The best video game blunders of 2006
Have you been wondering what the biggest screwups in the video game industry were in 2006? Well, you can quit worrying and start reading. This is the sort of stuff we'd like to see covered at things like the Video Game Awards. For an industry that is so good at congratulating itself, they sure don't like to admit their mistakes. So, it's up to someone else to do it for them.Check out this list of the top ten video game blunders, boners, mistakes and gaffes of 2006 from next-gen.biz, and laugh along at some of the highlights from the past year. The Gizmondo story should have totally been number one, though, as Stefan Eriksson has become the official poster-boy for video game idiocy in action after single-handedly killing a company. And a gorgeous Ferrari.

I think that you meant Gizmondo. Gizmodo is a website.

Tell you one blunder; Backwards compatibility, in all cases (360 and PS3 have their obvious problems, so i shall elaborate on the one that doesn't)
Sure; the Wii backwards compatability SEEMS complete, but i just tried loading Super Smash Bros. Melee from a 3rd Party Flash Card, and boom,
file corrupt
Fortunately I have the vast majority of my old GameCube files backed up on PC
But there's a headsup for y'all
SSBM + 3rd Party Flash Memory Card + Wii = Corrupt

Nintendo doesn't support third-party memory cards.... so it is absolutely not Nintendo's fault.

The list is a mixed bag. Things like Jack Thompson's activities and the Gizmondo thing obviously deserve to be there. But Next-Gen is scraping the barrel with some.
Killing E3 was pretty much good for everyone besides people that like over-hyped games. The Wii remote thing is blown out of proportion. Their #9 isn't even worth a footnote.

S-O-N-Y, What Does That Spell??
Bah, whatever, you guys get the point...

@ Holden, well, it turns out it may just have been a fluke anyway
Just afterwards i tried Super Mario Strikers and Sonic Riders and both tested fine off the same card (Strikers loaded a little slow, but fine)
I'm now running my SSBM file off my USB Memory Card (Which is 3rd party, but not flash memory)

Their Halo movie entry seems to go out of its way to blame the studios, who I think made the correct decision given Jackson's inability to adhere to a budget (you don't really think that rookie director he handpicked was going to have creative control, did you?) Films need to gross roughly twice their budget to turn a profit, which would be tough to do if you're handing over about 20% of the gross and $5m upfront.

rofl, they named all the retarded remote throwing as a fault of nintendo? Haha. Kids.
