easy... they're gamers

and as such must want all systems. =)

seriously though, why rag on either the Wii or PS3 when they've only been out a month? 360 wasn't exactly killing em a month after launch either.

Fix the shoddy job you did on the PS2 ports and I will start considering buying a PS3 again.

I've never seen so much hate toward a product with biased editorials and misinformation.

Nintendo themselves stated that they aren't looking to compete with the so called next gan (last gen) xbox 360 or the (true next gen) PS3.

Why is there no mention of the Wii crushing the Xbox 360 that's been out for a year over here and in Japan and Europe? The Wii is crushing the hell out of the 360 in domestic and worldwide sales and no one reports on that.

The PS3 launched alongside the Wii; it has the same production problems microsoft faced last year yet it outsold the xbox 360 in Japan and has SOLD OUT here in the USA.

This is biased and irresponsible news reporting is being fueled by Microsoft. Nintendo as a company is a class act. This is similar to the smear campaigning we all witnessed with the November Elections here in the US and in the end; the public was heard loud and clear, it was unacceptable and did not fool the public. All those involved in the smearing campaigns LOST!

PC World is off of my list and I will not recommend that magazine to anyone.

The same with Time Magazine and everyone else who continues to involve themselves with the Sony Smearing campaigns.

Those of you who own any Sony brand should do the same! The magazines and blog sites won't have as many advertisers (that's how they pay the bills) if the 100,000,000 plus owners of any Sony/Playstation brand protest and not support these publications or websites by purchasing or visiting them.

There are power in numbers and I say it's time to exercise that right!

Or people can ignore what DM said and be like me. I own 2 psones and a ps2, and a sony tv, and I don't care what people say about the company. It only makes me want to support these magazines more when people like DM start to pop up.

DM- this is the article about the 1.32 update, not the PC world article. Are you in the wrong place?

true next gen, hahahaha, DM you are a f'king 'tard. The product sucks, usually come broken from the factory, has sub-par graphics, has 1 ok game (resistance), and is all hype. STFU and let the grow ups talk. hows that "exclusive" 1080p treating you? How about that Virtua Fighter 5, oh wait, that left ps3 too...

#5 (DM) I am a self-confessed Nintendo fan and love the Wii (have one). But I do agree with your statements, there seems to be a great deal of hatred poised towards the PS3. I believe the only problem with it is the expense, once the price comes down, it will become more popular with the masses.

#5....

Ahahaha...I can't believe you actually wrote that all out.

The funny thing is you could have wrote, "PS3 AND SONY ROXXORZ! M$ IS THE SUQ!!" and people would have taken you just as seriously...

Honestly, I thought you were joking towards the end, but then the punch line just never came.

As much as I think updates are a good idea, I'd like Sony to take a cue from MS on this and schedule major releases twice or three times a year. I mean if something is critical then please, push it out but something like network performance should have been worked out before the console launched, as should have a lot of the other things that some of these updates are fixing.

#5... For some reason I don't get the sense that you are the type of person that 100,000,000,000,000,000 people will follow. ,000.

Just as you have an opinion, so does Time, PC World, etc. Why are they not allowed to have an opinion?

#5 - DM - As the owner of a PS3 I have two major problems with it. The big one is that it lacks an internal scaler, which means that games made for 720p will not scale up to 1080i on HDTVs that don't do 720p. My 40" Sony WEGA HD CRT doesn't do 720p, just 1080i. The majority of PS3 games run 720p, meaning I get to play them all in 480p. This is a problem the XBox 360 does not have since it has scaler built in.

Nice.

The other problem is PS2 emulation. PS2 games look significantly worse on the PS3. It is pretty like going back to playing on the PS1. I also can't play Guitar Hero on the PS3 (that's very bad). I was hoping to get rid of my PS2 and consolidate my systems, now I can't.

It blows me away that for all the technology Sony crammed into that box, that they completely blew it on such basic, fundamental features (one of which Microsoft nailed down a year in advance). I can't believe these things are even issues, but they are.

I can let the library thing slide; launch libraries are always weak. These hardware problems are inexcusable.

#14 - Thank you!!! That is the first, non-biased, straight from a PS3 owner comment I think I have seen on these boards.

I own a 360 and a Wii. I so very much wanted to get a PS3. I waited in line out in the cold. I got one on launch day. I read the reviews and promptly sold it to a friend because of all the issues I was reading about. I don't really care much for the library. I get the systems for the exclusives and the backward's compatibility so I can get rid of my last-gen system and consolidate. But I can't unless I am ok with going BACKWARDS in quality on my PS2 library.

I personally like how MS did the BC. I mean, I am still waiting, over 1 year later, for some of my original xbox games to be put on the BC list but at least the ones that are on there, and I have a ton of them that are now, are all UPSCALED to 720p and look BETTER than they did on my Xbox. That is the way to do it. I have actually gone back and replayed a number of them just because they look so much better.

At this point there just aren't any reasons for me to get a(nother) PS3. There is only one exclusive left(Mercenaries 2) that I am craving and it looks like that is going to the 360 as well.

It really is too bad, too. In hindsight, if Sony had just listened to their customers it might have turned out better. But at this point they STILL aren't listening to us and therefor I am not buying anything from them till they give me a good reason to do so.

You guys all realise that David and DM are the same guy right.

Yep he is that pathetic. Posting to himself!

PS3 is half the machine they promised @ E3 2005, and it shows.

Right out of the box this thing should have stomped the Xbox 360 into submission, but here we are and guess what. It didnt even come close...
