I wonder if the consumers get refunds for the price fixing. Oh well, anyway, two little mistakes I noticed. The first link (LCD Price-Fixing Goes Global) is two links, the L is the link and then the CD Price-Fixing Goes Global is a link, both point to the same URL though. And I'm not sure if Proble is a word.... maybe probe? O.o;

I remember seeing a news article about something the eggheads at MIT had come up with, a way to print LCD screens for about a buck per square inch. I don't need to tell you, that's cheap as hell. The article said the tech would hit the market in about a year or so...this was about two years ago.

Now, far be it for me to critisize the long development time of cutting edge technology, but, still, I have been saying to myself "Man these LCD things are expensive. Weren't the supposed to be getting cheaper?" for about a year now.

I wouldn't be suprised if there was judicious price fixing in this arena. The mark up on high end televisions in insane.

I dunno, 200 or so dollars seems pretty reasonable for a decent LCD monitor.

I'm always for investigations of price fixing. Many product prices are kept artificially high (and I definitely believe that video cards are one of them) but who are we kidding to think that we'd get a refund? The only people who will profit if they prove the case will be the government and lawyers. The only think that we have to gain would be lower prices when we're ready to buy another.

soo yea I hope they get in deep shit... I have been waiting for them to drop for almost three years and most displays have droped about 200-400$ when really you should be able to get a 26 samsung display for 600$ and with my 19inch pc moniter "samsung" being one that can display 1080p and have dvi for only 130$

LCD TVs have a 200% increase in price. Those 4 thousand dollar TVs only cost the companies 400 dollars to make. Considering the huge discounts i get on Mitsubishi TVs, 50% off!

This wouldn't surprise me one bit - it would please me too. I remember back in the day you would read about the displays of the future (LCD) and how they are so great AND cheaper than produce. Then came plasma which was suppose to be a great competitor because it was cheaper as well. (I'm pulling these generalizations from my memory of Beyond 2000 episodes and articles from 199x.) And now, we have LCD and plasma displays - both ridiculously expensive. In the last year, prices have definitely gotten cheaper-but that's relative to the redonkulous prices they start out at. Hopefully this will pan out to help us middle class...

This country is right on the edge of tilting into either another generation of Corporatism (which is what we've been in since Reagan) and populism.

I sure as Hell hope we go the populist route in this country, because I'm getting really sick and tired of hearing about all these greedy companies raping us. What's worst is that who knows what isn't getting caught in the ever more broken system?

Anyhow, I'm sure they were price fixing and I'm sure they'll get off with a slap on the wrist and have to pay we the people a paltry sum of money, just like the record labels did a few years ago when they were caught price fixing. I got $3.00 from that because I had bought about 35-40 CDs over the course of 3 years, I think it was.
Of course, CD prices are STILL sky high and unreasonable.
I can't wait to get my $.50 cents for buying various products with an LCD screen. Then EVERYTHING will be right in the world.
