Tour de Force @ Dec 27th 2006 7:38PM
Oh god, and I thought micro transactions were bad. Now we have to pay for demo's or beta testing??
v1cious @ Dec 27th 2006 7:39PM
how does this work? will every game come with one? or just a few lucky copies.
Bob @ Dec 27th 2006 7:40PM
HAHAHA
Why can't people just wait a few months? I don't see what the big deal is with Halo. Great game, but it's not "OH MI GAWD I JUS CUM MI P@NTZ" good.
nick @ Dec 27th 2006 7:43PM
Is it cheaper if you only want Crackdown?
Dave @ Dec 27th 2006 7:48PM
"2. Oh god, and I thought micro transactions were bad. Now we have to pay for demo's or beta testing??"
Are you really this thick?
nick @ Dec 27th 2006 7:55PM
I see what you did..... So, if you get Crackdown, you get the Halo 3 beta? Good thing I pre-ordered it a while ago!
FSK405K @ Dec 27th 2006 8:10PM
You preordered Crackdown?
Lewigi @ Dec 27th 2006 8:20PM
^^lol @ preordering crackdown.
I wonder if this will apply in the UK. Anyone know when Crackdown is out in the UK?
AJay17 @ Dec 27th 2006 8:26PM
Lol at #2, dumbass. Its free.
kdun @ Dec 27th 2006 8:30PM
This is almost a guarantee that Crackdown will be a mediocre game at best.
Spencer @ Dec 27th 2006 8:32PM
5. Is it cheaper if you only want Crackdown?
LOL. Halo has always been fun but I can't believe how much people buy into the hype. I personally lost interest at some point after the "Wazzaaaaahhh!" video they released, c. 1998.
I'm not joking =(
Konchu @ Dec 27th 2006 8:37PM
Its a new game and MS want to promote it so they are attaching a well known and loved game in the form of this beta.
Others have said this but look at the the PS2 Zone of Enders and its Metal Gear Solid 2 demo it was so sought after the game stores were selling the demo itself out of the used copies they got in the store. The game turned out to be quite fun but how many people would have passed it by had it not been for the demo. Dragon Quest for the PS2 though not a no name title, but one that had been laking the exposer it enjoyed in Japan got a little boost with a FFXII demo.
Earl @ Dec 27th 2006 8:51PM
Why would you PAY to do their beta testing?
I bet this will get a nice sum on eBay though.
Adam @ Dec 27th 2006 8:51PM
Guess we know what game will sell good this February =P but specially market eh? So how many you think will there be?
Jason @ Dec 27th 2006 9:20PM
i called it way back when the people were selling these invites were yanked - this is a gold mine MS will not ignore.
Leshrac @ Dec 27th 2006 9:21PM
What a load of crap... I guess this is their way of selling a ton of Crackdown copies... probably bodes poorly for the game... This is the same crap that Konami pulled with Zone of the Enders and the MGS2 demo.
BklynKid @ Dec 27th 2006 9:34PM
Gee, some of you are really slow. Thanks for pointing them out James.
MaX PL @ Dec 27th 2006 9:38PM
oh damn i guess i need to preorder Crackdown.
does this mean that every copy of Crackdown will have the beta code/copy of the beta?
Andrew @ Dec 27th 2006 9:46PM
Honestly, am I the only one who actually wants to play Crackdown. As far as graphics, it may not be the flashiest game out there, but it doesn't look bad, and the comic-like appearence certainly seems to fit, from what I've heard of the story. And, as for the gameplay, well, it's sandbox, so I'm there anyways...I just can't believe people are so hard on this game. I mean, really, what is so wrong with it, I'm not sure?
FSK405K @ Dec 27th 2006 9:52PM
DQVIII did not need the FFXII demo to sell in Japan; DQ is far more popular there than FF is. The demo was just Square Enix wanting to generate interest for FF in the millions who would buy DQ.
Final Light @ Dec 27th 2006 10:02PM
time for the ol' "buy, take out code, return" maneuver.
mgs0lid @ Dec 27th 2006 10:04PM
yea well that is enough to warrent the purchase of crackdown...
Khami @ Dec 27th 2006 10:23PM
Didnt MS just get ticked at a site selling the invitations they were going to be receiving? Talk about a two way street in a way. Though granted, its like you are buying the game and have a chance at being in a beta for Halo 2. Still doesnt make it cool as all they are doing is trying to pad the numbers for the game by having a far more popular game name tied to it.
Jarvis Slacks @ Dec 27th 2006 10:24PM
Man, people are morons. How can they not get that...
boo @ Dec 27th 2006 10:29PM
I was going to buy crackdown anyway, this is a sweet bonus.
Bob @ Dec 27th 2006 10:51PM
We are making fun of the fact that people will spend $60 on this game, not because they want to play Crackdown but because they want to play Halo 3.
nick @ Dec 27th 2006 11:05PM
Actually, I think a number of us are making fun of the way the story is written, as if you would spend all that money on the game SIMPLY for the opportunity to play the beta version of Halo.
Remember when Wing Commander was at the movie theaters and people bought tickets just to see the Star Wars trailer before the movie, then left? Kinda the same thing.
Every game has it's supporters and non supporters. I'm sure there's a number of people out there who couldn't care less about Halo, but are probably interested in Crackdown.
sketch @ Dec 27th 2006 11:33PM
LOL @ #22
I plan on doing the same. I'll be buying mine from Sam's Club.
Andrew @ Dec 27th 2006 11:45PM
Ah, I assumed it was sort of tongue-in-cheek, but there just seemed to be a lot of resentment towards the actually game. Personally, I could care less about Halo 3 - I mean, the first one was decent and all, but I didn't even bother to pick up the third, so it is doubtful this one will make its way into my library.
DWells55 @ Dec 28th 2006 1:38AM
If I'm not picked anyways, I'll be first in line for Crackdown.
Open, remove invitation, reseal, return. If I'm feeling moral I'll sell it opened on eBay or to GameStop.
infernoxxx @ Dec 28th 2006 2:57AM
this confirms that Bungie will announce who got into the beta (by the halo 3 site) by mid February. Cause anyone that didn't will be rushing to buy crackdown.
Carl @ Dec 28th 2006 3:15AM
It reminds me a lot of the ZOE game that came in my MGS2 Demo disk I paid $49 for in 2000.
tha aceman @ Dec 28th 2006 4:01AM
ok how stupid can you guys be read the damn thing really really hard it says they are giving it away with crackdown if you can get the right specially marked box dumbasses.
Beano @ Dec 28th 2006 6:29AM
Crackdown really doesn't need a promotion like this. I was going to buy this game anyway.
lothar @ Dec 28th 2006 10:18AM
I'm another that wants to get Crackdown, the movies that I saw of the game seemed pretty cool. It appears that its more like Mercenaries than GTA which I dont mind.
yubastard @ Dec 28th 2006 10:47AM
I would pay $60 for halo 3 multi... if I were rich and got crackdown, well yes indeed.
AlianAnt @ Dec 28th 2006 3:54PM
I was gonna buy Crackdown anyways. Just because they put a Halo 3 beta offer in doesn't make me want the game any more. Crackdown itself looks freakin' awesome and this Halo 3 beta is just icing on the cake.
Big Lou @ Dec 28th 2006 4:30PM
Wow, do people not read this crap?
First off, you are NOT buying the demo. This is exactly like Xbox 1 games with free 2-month LIVE codes. However, instead of an online service, you are getting the chance to Beta test.
I myself wanted Crackdown before I heard about this. I now have the motivation to pick it up on launch.
M$ knows what they are doing. Some of you may bitch and moan, but at the end of the day, Crackdown WILL sell quite well now.
makesevenupyours @ Dec 28th 2006 6:04PM
w00t!!
i have been really looking into the game lately, and i actually think it looks pretty sweet.
Frank N Stein @ Dec 28th 2006 7:34PM
SCREW HALO 3!! R6V IS THE BEST SHOOTER EVER, PERIOD!!
Kwipper @ Dec 29th 2006 12:06AM
I see what you did there....
slayer @ Dec 29th 2006 2:39PM
How come everyone's so sure this is even real? Could easily be a photoshoped fake, look at the texture around the text. It does say "limited time offer - look for specially marked boxes" on the bottom.
coolcustomer @ Jan 11th 2007 10:00AM
All preordered copies are guaranteed to have the Halo 3 Beta. Atleast thats what Gamestop and/or EB said. It will probably only have 1 level, limited weapons and game types. Don't get too excited.
S1L3NTK1LL3R @ Jan 31st 2007 12:28PM
Listen up ladies, nobody cares about "Crackdown". Sounds like a noob game anyway. We're basically all here because of the header of H3. Don't pay pay 60 bucks for the shit, copy the beta version off of my webpage. Email me for the link, it's free.
bob @ Feb 1st 2007 12:48AM

corny2211 @ Feb 20th 2007 1:25PM
right you idiots..first you need the DISK of CRACKDOWN to play HALO 3 BETA. second of all...its only an effin fps!! times change..things move on. it has to be something pretty special to make a mark in todays gaming world. you all have just been roped in and taken aboard bungies hype bandwagon. bunch of sheep.
Gemma @ Feb 24th 2007 2:34PM
It's been like a week since Crackdown came out, and the people who get the beta test for Halo 3 are the ones who Pre-ordered Crackdown in the first place.
So basically, if you didn't pre-order Crackdown, only by a lucky shot you'll get to participate in Halo 3 Beta testing.
Any by the way, Crackdown is AWESOME, lol.
