Is it a discouraging sign that the innovative interface is not being creatively exploited here. With the razor thin profit margins games pull in, where will the incentive be to do something truly risky and bold and exciting. Almost all games are derivative anymore... and the ones that have novelty have just enough of it mixed in with a predictable formula. GOW is a shooter (we know shooters) with a splash of novelty (a cover system that works). It seems to me that the game that will really make the Wii take off will need to be ground breaking from the get go. Totally new interface, totally new game, totally unacceptable risks.
I am becoming more aware of how pressed developers must be with this new generation of titles. It costs more to make these games. Fewer customers with units in their homes. Those higher risks create a bad environment for innovation. Imagine what would have happened if the Wii had been HD. That would have driven the costs up more, reduced the profit possibilities and really stifled risk and creativity.

uh, what? It doesnt cost more to make wii titles than it did to make GC titles, thats nearly half the whole point of the wii exisiting. It does cost more for 360/ps3 titles, mayeb thats what you are thinking of, but nither of those are trying much new, just prettier same ol'.

most video games never make money as it is... add a risky interface and the ones with the wallets get skitish. With the Wii I think it is not a matter of higher costs... just more room for inovation and more room for risk and this market has never been about risk. It should be no suprise they are trying to churn out the same ol' same ol' even though there is a huge field in which to be creative.

"most video games never make money as it is."

I find that hard to believe. Any hard facts to back that up? People like money. If the majority of games didn't make money, I doubt people would be making games.

That would be quite the game. I think it would be nice not to have a game full of violence. You should check out this video on Amish Country. http://travelistic.com/video/show/2018 It might be a nice refrencee if you ever do get to make the Amish Speedway!
