You got some great games up there and if any of these where to get a remake on the PS3 or new version I would be thrilled to Death.

i commend you for not going with everyone else and putting other rpgs in there besides final fantasy.

i do wish you had earthbound for quirkiness and super mario rpg up there. but other than that the newest breath of fire was so underrated and i loeved it.

.... hey u forgot a few...
wheres KOTOR? hell even is better than most of those selections...

...pssss hey ps3fanboys, if u guys really want a bunch of great rpg experiances this generation, your best bet is with an xbox360, think about it.. the off-white (really should release a black one) box is getting Fable 2, Mass Effect, a next gen KOTOR, a next gen Jade Empire, Elder Scolls IV, PSU, Lost Odessey, Two Worlds, and for u zany pro-japanese rpg gamers, we got Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata and they are all xbox exclusives, to the best of my knowledge and are just the ones i can name off top of my head. and honestly lets face it... the ps3's last true exclusive gem, (Final Fantasy) will more than likly lose excluesivity also, im just trying to help, i used to be a blind sony fan too, until i saw the light, and besides why support a company that time and time again treats its fanbase (you) like garbage? make the smart choice and get the best system this time around. Once u go xbox live u dont go back.

Errr actually GRRiMREEAPeR oreaching to rpg fans about xbox live is completely irrelevant, as far as im concerned the only good genres played over xbox live are sports, shooters, and racing games. RPGs just don't work over the net. As for the games you mentioned:

Fable 2 - Not an RPG, more of an adventure, plus the first game was terrible and it has a crap story.

Mass Effect - Not an rpg, it's a shooter.

A next gen KOTOR - ZZZ, such boring gameplay, and a boring story. Enough of the star wars crap please.

A next gen Jade Empire - First game was crap, and its an adventure.

Elder Scolls IV - One word: Overrated.

PSU - MMO and an extremely poor one at that, Guild wars does everything this does and more and you dont have pay a subscription.

Lost Odessey - Ok, this one could be good.

Two Worlds - Hmmm havent heard of this one yet.

Blue Dragon - Looks good.

So Lost oddysey and Blue Dragon should be good, but for the most variety of RPGs you have to pick ps3 man. I have a 360 and live is awesome but it's just a shooting console. All it's best games are shooters.

Grim, right on. I'm probably gonna get back into RPGs because of all the cool stuff that us 360 owners are getting. :)

I really think Shining Force 2 deserves to be mentioned.
Lots of unique characters, great story, amazing strategic battle system...
I'm still hoping for another truly shining game...

I'm playing FFXII right now (88hrs in), and dishonestly the story is amazing. That being said i felt that FFX had a better one if your looking for the FF series to be put in there somewhere.
Also, maybe soon you could get a list of the best looking rpgs coming up for the ps3 for all the rpg players on the site. Nice list though nick

I was waiting for Lufia 2 to show up, a truly fantastic and memorable RPG that still blows away most RPGs produced lately. Where's Seiken Densetsu 3, though!? And what about Golden Sun 1 & 2 for being such beautiful trips back to those nostalgic SNES days? I guess there's only room for so much.

my two cents...

I love rpg's, my favorite genre. But 2 very good ones are being overlooked: Final Fantasy 2 & 3 (American #'s). FF3 is my favorite game of all time. It had prolly the best story of any FF game and YOU CARED ABOUT THE CHARACTERS. FF2 is my 2nd favorite FF game (7 is 3rd). And what an amazing end boss battle that was, you actually lost and then the screen went to characters that you met during the game yadda yadda yadda. I am very suprised these 2 gems were overlooked for more recent games.

Yeah, I had pondered over many of the choices you guys have presented, but unless you want a really, really longwinded explanation as to why I chose what I did, know that I considered many of your ideas. As for Super Mario RPG, it was fun, but I've never been able to make it through a third time. Seiken Densetsu 3? Amazing game. I don't trust fan-dubs and I can't read Japanese, so I couldn't consider it as honestly as I'd like to (but it's in my top 10 =) ). One that I really, really, really wanted up there was Lunar 2. But... alas.

And yes! Lufia 2 is a fantastic game. I spoke with a friend of mine and we actually thought that a remake of that game, heck, just a high-res 2-D update would still trump many of today's high-budget, low-thrill RPGs. It's in my SNES right now. As it should be.

Grim is a moron.. yes the 360 does have a nice amount of "rpgs" but put it this way ... sony has many many more rpgs series than just final fantasy... i have 53 different ps2 games and 43 of them are rpgs... once again different games.... hate to break it to you but 43 is in fact greater than one you dumb fuck

Agreed whatyousay. Oh and Nick i totally loved Seiken Densetsu 3, even though i've only played it on zsnes it's still wicked. Last boss was a bit crap though, the best boss was easily that woman who turned into a big panther on Hawk's storyline, what a difficult boss man, but so fun XD.
