I read Japanese and I can tell you that document says nothing about a facelift for Okami and Godhead. The document is a simple PR announcing Capcom is working with Activision to market some games in Australia and New Zealand. It will be selling Lost Planet at the start of 07, followed later by Okami and Godhead.

Not happening (unfortunately) here's the English translation of that doc:

I've passed this by a few people I know and they say there is no mention of Okami or Godhand coming out for the 360. They just say its stated for an australia release sometime after "lost planet for the 360". So it doesn't look like the 360 will be getting an okami or godhand port. Personally, The rumor didn't make any sense to begin with. If something didn't sell well on a system with an install base of over 100million world wide, why would they port it to something with an install base of less than 10million?

Wow, that's disappointing.

Okami is the one game that almost pushed me to picking up a PS2 (now that they're available on the cheap). It looks like a truely original and creative title (which lets face it, are relatively rare in the industry).

In fact, I'm very sad that Clover has been assimilated. The only way I can see this as a good thing is if the former members of Clover bring the same creative energy to other Capcom titles.

I think it's a sorry state of affairs in which original ideas are shot down. For another example of this, see the recent "dancing career" post on Joystiq. I understand that companies need to be profitable, but it is truely sad that original, entertaining experiences are overshadowed by the umpteenth release of Madden.

Sorry for the rant, but I was very happy when I read the article and now hearing it is false has crushed my inner child.

I hear you, it would've been nice, Xbox 360 is in dire need of some artsy games. But, even though Okami is wonderful game, I'd prefer an original title.

The English version is not the same as the Japanese. The Japanese doesn't mention anything about PS2. It says they will start by selling Lost Plant for the 360, and then they plan to sell Okami and Godhead (doesn't say what console). Probably they added the PS2 reference in English to clarify.

Sorry everyone! We all make mistakes, with Lost Planet godhand and okami in there I assumed it meant 360, it seems a bit likely though. I'll further check next time so a whole big excitement happens on the web as it did today with record hits for my site.

If Okami did come out for 360 it would make me regret that I already bought it for PS2. Time to move on. Artsy games are on the way! I'm looking forward to Trusty Bell (aka Eternal Sonata in US, but I like the JP title better)

Damn, why did this happen?

Anyway, I was saying Trusty Bell is not artsy in my book. Emo != artsy. Not saying it's not going to be great, but that's not the kind of game I was talking about.

Now Butterfly Garden, on the other hand...

Okami is a fantastic game and I loved every minute of it.

The problem with the speculation is that Clover was closed a few months ago. I doubt that Capcom would go thru the time and money to port either games to the 360. The team that was at Clover have moved to different buildings in Capcom or have left. Okami on the 360 just won't happen.
