They also missed their target of 50 new titles released by the end of the year. I don't know what is up with the XBLA team, but they either need a good kick in the ass, or they need to hire more people. Something needs to be done because this is pretty lame as far as a paid service goes.

This game sucked 25 years ago, much less now. I hope very few people buy this, so they will stop thinking people actually like this game, and stop putting it in every collection. And it is NOWHERE near as good as pac-man

Goldeneye, I feel bad to admit to myself, would bomb today. As overly incredible as it was, trying it now is quite painful, like watching Fresh Prince videos from the 80's.

ditto that! this game does suck. hell it sucked back when it was new. this is easily one of the worst xbla titles to date and its certainly the poorest example of old school cred.

I was really expecting castle crashers! Perhaps it got pulled in order to change out its "racist" tendencies?

This is one of my favorite classic arcade games. I used to play it at Pizza Hut in a cocktail cabinet. Good times!

Boo. They better start pulling their shit together if they don't wanna have to worry about getting lapped by the Virtual Console...

Well this IS the crap that LIVE can do without!! With that said the Virtual Console has it's crap too, but to end a year of GREATNESS with a sub-par offering like this REALLY SUCKS MS!!! Now if it would have been CastleVania:SotN or Castle Crashers we would'nt be typing we would be playing!!

Are you high #4?

GoldenEye would sell out faster than any game on XBLA if they were ballsy enough to go out and get it.

GoldenEye may be almost 10 years old, but it's still a better shooter out there than a lot of the stuff coming out today. Who cares how outdated the graphics are, the game still has value and is more than just a nostalgia game. It's still very fun to play and the gameplay is near flawless, not to mention the multiplayer.

You would prefer that they don't put a ton of crap like this out there because it makes finding the good stuff harder.

The problem is that while I think this game is worth about $0.02, some people are willing to pay the $5. The reality is that ever game possible can and will be listed for download on all the new systems. It may be cumbersome, but it's best way.

A good game for its era but Namco holds it in much higher esteem than most of its customers. Perhaps it was more popular in Japan and that drives the belief. They certainly haven't hesitated to put it nearly every Museum set for every platform worth mentioning.

My personal annoyance is the short shrift given another game of the era, Bosconian. I loved that machine but it was never very common and decent home versions were extremely scarce. There was Commodore 64 version in the mid-80s and that was retty much it for any machine common in the US. Even decent clones were scarce. So when the first Namco Museum came out on the Playstation, Bosconian alone made it a must have after 15 years of doing without.

But Bosconian gets very little love from Namco. It has been left out of most versions of the Museum since then, especially on portables. I would have bought a Namco Museum for the GBA that included it.

DK Mode, Health maxed out, rocket launchers in the basement. It takes at least 5 rockets to kill somebody. Classic. Goldeneye > any newfangled bullshit.

GoldenEye's controls would be its downfall. We're all used to having two joystiqs and a million buttons, and for them all to work in a Gears-Halo-COD2-SOCOM sort of way. Think back to how you controlled Bond on the N64. Yea, the gameplay was great, but the controls were clunky.

I think the Joystiq crowd are showing their ages today. Rally X was a great game back in it's day and it's still a really fun game today. If people can get excited about playing NES games on their Wii (and they are) then there's no reason to be bashing Rally X on Xbox Live.

when are people are gonna realize retro does not equal good? i mean sure it's fun to play for about 20 minutes... but then the reality sinks in. come on people, there's flash games better than this and you're not paying money to play them.

What are you talking about, this is a classic game. It always amazed me when people trash on these older games, comparing them to the current generation of games. Of course the graphics don't compare, but when you realize the history of the game and what programmers and engineers were able to produce with their limited assets of the time, it is a marvel that we ever got anything like this (which paved the way for todays games).

I have a short history of Rally-X up on my blog (http://extraordinaryarcade.com/?p=40). It is definately worth a look (the game, not necesarilly my blog post :)

Rally-X has many design faults that were caused by the limited technology of the day. That's very typical with older games, Goldeneye included (yes, Goldeneye would be a sales smash, but only hardcore, delusional fanboys would be euphuistic enough to call it satisfying given other choices today).

With all that XNA technology allowing fast development, couldn't they spend a week or two doing a remake? Oh, no, that would cost a whopping few thousand dollars! Dev costs are completely out of control!

I'm really, really getting pissed off with these re-releases. New consoles should have new games, dammit.
