Capcom's makin' movies
Video games and movies frequently don't mix. Sometimes, movies pump out a Resident Evil, which goes on to produce financially successful sequels. Mostly, though, Uwe Boll ends up with them. Capcom is making sure none of that happens to their titles.
Capcom is currently cozying up with Hollywood to turn more of its licenses into hit movies; and the other way around. Germaine Gioia, Capcom's new Senior VP of Licensing, is working to get Capcom more exposure in Hollywood. This way, Capcom games like Lost Planet could get decent showings on the silver screen and Capcom can work closely with studios to create games on Hollywood IPs ... which could allow them to work nicely together.
Microsoft should take a page from Capcom's book in dealing with Hollywood (possibly getting together with arch-nemesis Sony to make it). By working closely with Hollywood, Capcom is taking a step toward making gaming a more socially acceptable past time. If the movies about games are frequently decent (not directed by Uwe Boll), we could see a loosening of political intolerance of the medium as Hollywood and politicians frequently are in lock-step. Plus, Capcom gets to make more money, which they aren't about to argue with.

"making gaming a more socially acceptable past time"
I LOVE Capcom, don't get me wrong...
...but I wish that GAMES and the interactive element could do that kind of talking for the industry--
PLEASE CAPCOM! Let me make a movie about Dan Hibiki!

I'm pretty sure having Halo: The Movie come out on Blu-Ray would be a bad thing.

hahahahahahahahshahshahshahahahahhahahaha.....hold on, let me stop crying with laughter...hahahahahahahahahaah....I just..ahahahahaaa...cant stop...hahaahah...that cracked me up.
Im sorry but you are more likely to hear that aliens ubducted Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, slapped them, and sent them back to earth in a space cow, then ever see Micro working with Sony. God, you're more likely to see king kong before 2008 comes then see Sony working with Micro on movies.
Micro wants big blockbuster movies like LOTR but Halo style, Sony doesn't care what the hell it gives us until Killzone the movie is announced, two very different styles and ideas. Micro wants rich ass people to finance its movies as it doesnt want to donate even 2pence towards it, Sony by no means has that kind of money to just throw away especially with the PS3 sucking em dry.
Think about that statement for a second, just a second.

Couldn't you totally see Sony sabotaging Halo in the editing room so that the franchise would get a black eye?

Capcom should just put out the "Street Fighter: Ten Years Later" set and call it a day. Those two and a half minute vignettes on collegehumor.com are thousands times more entertaining than the Van Damme movie.

Hasn't Columbia Pictures (Sony's Movie Divsion) published like most of the Ok to good game movies? Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, and Silent Hill. What's next Halo?
