Catfight: Adrienne Curry vs. Lara Croft
Graphics card maker NVIDIA and pants tent maker Adrienne Curry (of America's Next Top Model fame) have teamed to create "the world's first real-time, virtual celebrity," according to an NVIDIA press release. Though the "world's first" claim is dubious (companies have been working on this sort of thing since before the days of Max Headroom), we like that Ms. Curry took a dig at Lara Croft via the release:
"The Digital Adrianne is so realistic, it's really trippy. Lara Croft, eat my shorts!"
Actually, that's a great idea, Adrienne. Make it happen, NVIDIA. Literally -- by this time next year, virtual Lara needs to wrestle off and eat virtual Adrienne's shorts. As a tech demonstration to prove Adrienne's polygonal superiority and stuff.

If it was at all possible, I'd do a Fark-like image link to the "look at me, i'm an attention whore" of that girl doing a hand stand on the beach.

I don't know if she looks more like a dude in drag in person or digitally rendered, couldn't they have found a model that looks more like a woman. Glad they were able to seperate the unibrow but they could have done some more plucking
samfish @ Dec 29th 2006 2:15PM

But the question is, when will the porn industry tap this new power?
NintendoFanbot @ Dec 29th 2006 2:55PM
Actually the first one would be Aki Ross.
Screw her though, $10 million to animate and render hair? Too high maintenance.
@12
I dunno, but there are some that already use Poser3D to...
...not that I'm talking from experience, mind you. :P

Anyone ever seen the movie Simone?
"A producer's film is endangered when his star walks off, so he decides to digitally create an actress to substitute for the star, becoming an overnight sensation that everyone thinks is a real person."

leave it to the news to mess up such a simple fact. They said that nvidia made the gpus for both the ps3 and the xbox360. ATI made the 360's gpu. How do we know they aren't lying about everything else?
errrm @ Dec 29th 2006 4:51PM
19 If u listen carefully they said XBOX and PS3 not Xbox 360. nVidid made the original xbox gpu.

all of this is a complete waste of money and reflects poorly on the company...they should be selling good products, not female object advertisements. it doesn't change the fact that the 8800 is $600 and out of the price reach of most people.

3D models of humans won't impress the world until they figure out how to make believable, realistic-looking pornography starring various celebrities at their peak. Admit it: What you all *really* want is a 3-way between Scarlett Johanssen, Marilyn Monroe, and James Dean.
The best part would be that it could be anybody, and no laws are broken because it's "parody" and protected under our Constitution.
