Yeah there are already vids on YouTube.

I got it on torrent last week lol. It's all the same, someone who payed set it loose early. I've had it running since Saturday and the biggest gripe for me is there is no PPC Linux Flash player so if you want it petition Adobe. This isn't my first time with linux as I have three other machines running it but this is my first time with it on a PPC.

I hope that either Sony or the hackers open up access to the GPU, soon... I want to play Quake on this "turd bucket" (jesting with the turd bucket comment).

Windows Nt 3.5 and 4.0 had PPC versions lol. There ya go Tristan.

All things considered not going to happen excluding emulation and old Windows version that supported PPC.

the multi-cores make linux run great on here. Normally opening a ot of windows in internet explorer would freeze a normal comp, but on here it doesn't even do a single thing to it.

5.0 phoenix 20061208 is the version I got. Its currently installing, can't wait for it to get done.

I freaking LOVE the backup tool also. You gotta reformat for the YDL install, but if you backup to a flash drive, you won't lost your game data/videos/demos/DLX games.

Super handy tool!

Oh, install is super easy too. You don't need a walkthrough, just the official PS3 install guide:

Tristan, ignore Jack Frost. "It's a dual core faggot" is utterly stupid and ignorant. (Let's just say there is a "faggot" composing this comment.)

Dual cores (or 8-cores in the case of PS3) don't mean a whole lot. Linux multi-tasks EXCEPTIONALLY well even on my single-core, measly 1.86 gigahertz processor. This is because Linux is a monolithic kernel. Kernels are very difficult to explain, but it boils down to this:

-Microkernels (Windows and parts of OSX) can get things done faster, but will slow down drastically (and often come to an absolute halt) when asked to do many things. They are more prone to crashing.
-Monolithic kernels (Linux and other parts of OSX) will take a bit longer to get things done, but will slow down logically when multi-tasking. Logically meaning that running two processes will OBVIOUSLY make them slower than a single process, but they will not slow down more than expected.

Kevin M, you have no idea what you're talking about.

The kernel, being either monolithic or micro, has absolutely nothing to do with "how fast things get done." And it has ZERO bearing on symmetric multi-processing.

You're also wrong about the "crashing" part. Again, it has lots less to do with the kernel being monolithic and more to do with the way drivers are loaded. Here, monolithic kernels tend to be at a disadvantage because most drivers load into kernel space and thus can bring down the system easier. With Micro-kernels you can separate them more.

Why don't you do a little surfing on Wikipedia and learn a little bit more about computers before spreading completely wrong information?
