If you happened to spot a PlayStation 3 (or seven PlayStation 3s) at your local Big Box store this past week but had your hand-slapped when you tried to buy one, then pay special attention to tomorrow's Best Buy circular. Looks like our internal (and poorly spelt) memo was dead on; each store has a minimum of 25 60GB PS3 units, with some stores having as many as 60! In order to keep the violence to a minimum, stores are going to be handing out tickets "one hour prior to store opening on Sunday, December 31." According to their holiday store hours, Best Buys will be open tomorrow morning at 10am, meaning interested gamers (or tardy eBay profiteers) will need to be there by 9am to collect their ticket ... though we'd suggest getting there a couple hours early.
[Thanks, anon!]

I mean, a $599 computer? That's actually pretty sweet. I would throw linux on there and just use it for MSN and Firefox.
You hear me, Sony fanboys? I would use your precious system as a cheap computer for YTMND and Kotaku.
The hell would I buy any games for it when Diablo 2 runs fine with wine.

Target in Melbourne Florida had three PS3's last night and the Wal-Mart in Palm Bay had 2 on December 23rd. They are not that hard to find now that the prices on Ebay tanked.

Of course I bought it.

The demand for the ps3 is low at the moment. Makes sense though, there isnt a single game for it worthy of buying the entire console over it.

stopped by the gamestop in the same shopping plaza and they too had a handful, along with a crowded store that couldnt seem to care less either.

the ps3 is expensive. the wii is cheap and the only option for those who cant afford the xbox or playstation.
wii hype will be nonexistant next year when high profile xbox and playstation games are out and prices drop for both consoles.

This isn't Highlander, MaX PL, you loser. The mentaility of "there can only be one" makes fanboys like you look that much more pathetic to the general gaming community.
Who the hell cares if the hype goes away. Bring on the games; for all THREE systems.

No, I didn't buy one. I would've considered it, except that $600 is way too much.

on the launhc i was at walmat had ticket number 23 they had 22 consoles, stupid me stayed till midnight to see if i could score one. i couldn't so then i went to milenia mall in orlando. the first retard there... well, i managedd to stay in the line, but then a few retards, messed up with the cops, than the line kinda lost it, i was pissed over the violence, teasers, cop pushing people with the cars!!! so then i gave up, and kept on searching... Then i gues on december 5th walmart had a 2 wii shipment, i stuck at the line for like almost 20 hours, was number one and got one!!! very neat console, though wii sports you can sit down and just move your wrist, and you might play better than if u were standinf up!!! well, i tried to find a ps3 cuz i want the "cheap blu ray " and want to play street fighter games and other stupid fight crap that i like, like king of fighters... bla bla bla! I have a xbox360, i like it alot.... got the HDdvd for it... but i have to HDTV, so need blu ray in one and HDDVD on the other one... so tomorrow ill kinda get up at 8.30 and stop by best buy lits like 2 miles from my house, if the line is "full" by then i will stop at wallgreens get bread and batteries for the ""thirsty"" wii mote! darn my total game play = 8 hours and batteries were GONE, corse they're those cheap ones that cames with it...
so i kinda hope i can get a ps3 tomorow, if i can't i guess i ll have to wach reg dvd's on my tv, until sony decides to charge less for that HUGE BLACK BOX... when i get and if i get i will paint mine white just like that guy did, i paint cars... so airless and bd paint. will add a niiiiiice touch.... maybe use die on the controlers...

My local EB ganes had a few PS3’s still collecting dust.
Lil kid (11ys maybe) comes in with his dad to buy one.
The kids traded damn near EVERYTHING he owned
X-box, PS2, GameCube and 70 games just for the PS3 and a copy of Motostorm.
After the kid left I went over to the clerk and asked him,
“How are you able to sleep at night?”
He just held his head low.

Everyone check at your local Best Buy at the end of the day tomorrow - or maybe even fairly early on Monday. See how many of the 25 - 60 PS3's they STILL have in stock - and then report it here.
I do quite honestly think that this ad - and this weekend - will decided whether or not the PS3 is a success, or just an overpriced gadget. Is their launch a failure or a success - and thus, will Europe in March even give a damn?

I mean, come on, a Playstation 2! Not only is that cutting-edge technology, but it's quite rare too! I've only heard of a few thousand existing, so this pawn shop broker (who you totally owned!) should've at least had the courtesy to give the kid $450 or so for it. I mean, give me a break, the kid was only around eleven years old, and these things were going for over $1,000 on eBay when they first came out! It sickens me that he could've given the kid anything less than that.
And wow, 70 games?! I bet the kid mentioned above was totally into some of the more rare titles from the last few years. I mean, he probably had at least a dozen Disgaea's coming out of his pockets, and he probably had more copies of Rez than he knew what to do with! And don't even get me started on that stack of Steel Battalions he carried in under his arms!
In no way can I imagine that this high-class kid would have such common properties like NFL Fever 2002 or Jak & Daxter with him. And if he did, those games should still be worth a good $75 each, even if they were used by a kid! I have a litter of children myself, and let me tell you, these angels certainly know their way around the ring of a DVD disc. One time, I tossed a few copies of Suikoden 2 into a crib with my twins, and I kid you not, the next day, the discs looked even better than they had before!
And all of that for a new PS3 and a game that isn't even available in the US yet (remember, you said a copy of, not even "a preorder of")? Wow...
*yawns and wonders why he spent the time typing a sarcastic response to that post*
