HD-DVD drive for only $99?

It was $159 CDN for the first couple of weeks it was released up here in Canada. Take the remote and Movie out and $99 is about right.

Went to my Best Buy in Michigan, couldn't get a price match. They have a clause in their price matching that states the retailer must be a local one. I tried to explain that, by my standards, LA was local. Needless to say she was not amused.

I was able to get the price match no Problem at best buy here in Kansas! Though I told them it was in a nearby town, they didn't have any problems marking it down by 100$!!! Never woulda bought th thing for 200$, but at 100$ It's a steal. Watch the free King Kong movie it came with (which I hope isn't an accurate representation of HD DVD releases because it has no special features what so ever, not even a commentary, though it looked good, enough to impress my dad) I just wish the Remote it came with worked better with my Olevia TV. IT can only turn it on and off, and can't change inputs.

I went to a Circuit City in Montebello (near Los Angeles) and the manager would not price match.

I'm pissed, to say the least.

hell, i would fight for this at my best buy if i had an hdtv. oh well, one less thing to do i guess.

I printed out the ad, color and double sided because this deal is almost unbelievable, walked into a Circuit City in Southern California and walked out less than 5 minutes later with the 360 HD-DVD player for $89.99 plus tax. $89 you say!? Yes because they price match it plus another 10% off. Thank you 360fanboy and the OP at Fatwallet!

I just got this to work at a Best Buy in Overland Park, KS. It was the last one they had in stock. I just printed out the one side of the ad, took it in store, told the cashier it was from a store in a nearby town (Lawrence), and was on my way. The ONLY reason I got this to work is because they were super busy. After the cashier made the change, and it needed manager approval, a manager came over, and didn't even look at the screen and put her password and stuff in. Anyone trying this should do so when a store is swamped, as they are less likely to scrutinize the ad and pricematch. This combined with the 360 premium i got for $300 from Microcenter makes a pretty nice deal.

Walked into Circuit City near Bay Area, Manager was a literal jackass and would not price match. Walked off on the customer. Basically he ignored me and walked off.

Filed a complaint with Circuit City, let's see who laughing now.

I got the price match at a Wal-Mart in Statesboro, GA. They didn't even ask where the store was. I took them the printed out add, wrote the store numbers on the back, they called them, verified the price, and bam I got it. Can't believe they did it.

I got Best Buy to price match no questions asked. And this was in Charleston, SC... Great deal. I may go buy a few more. :)

Jon: Just stay away from the one by Oak Park Mall. Those guys are jackasses.

Can someone please send me their receipt from their purchase. The Best Buys and Circuit Citys in Houston, TX aren't helping me out at all. I really want one of these but I dont have 200 bucks to spend on it.

NO GO at Both best buys and circutcitys in Wichita, KS or Walmart (Some crazy african guy {IM NOT RACIST BUT HE WAS LIKE A NATIVE AND COULD NOT SPEAK PROPER ENGLISH I THINK HE JUST MOVED TO AMERICA} told me that their store will not accept "THE FOREIGN DEAL"
