I bet its a hoax. The kid probably got busted by his parents and he is blaming Madden. Either that or the parents are just trying to get money out of EA because the game is so popular and is making EA millions. The parents figure they deserve a cut of the profits for doing nothing. Go figure.

"Considering the game was sealed, we'd say the act was committed at the manufacturing level."

Proof of this? Did they take a picture of the package at the store, unseal it (all the while documenting this process), and discover porn? Answer: No.

As far as the DVD being officially labeled, I think someone from EA is going to want to inspect this DVD to see if it's really one of theirs, or just a convincing copy relabeled to look like a Madden 07 DVD.

There is a huge difference between a pressed DVD and a burned DVD. It would be interesting if they found that it was actually pressed at the factory as opposed to an actual burned DVD that was just dropped onto the factory line to get labeled.

there is no way the culprit will be found, i work in a games store and we could shrink wrap games making them new looking. It was probally some perv that works in their local games store.

Ok why has someone has not asked. "Why did he even tells his parents. I know I had gotten porn instead of Madden when I was his age. I would never have said anything. Well porn was harder to get back in the 80's but damn. If it was that piece of crap Madden (I'd take the knee asswipe) then the porn is a much better gift. Thanks Dad!!!!

How do you know it wasn't Madden men-on-men porn, complete with wide receivers and tight ends?

Is it known rather or not the DVD was factory pressed or if it was a different disc?

Can you imagine EA distributing, literally, THOUSANDS of pornographic movies to children all around the country? EA would get raped with law suit, after lawsuit, after lawsuit.

@1 - From the article:
"The Mahoneys aren't looking for a financial settlement, and only want a new Madden NFL 07 video game and a guarantee that no more games containing porn are sold. "We don't want anyone else exposed to it," Linda Mahoney said."

Is porn some kinda new super-virus? Seriously, I was 14 once and if somebody gave me porn for Christmas I'd at least say thank you. I just wish they stated what kind of porn it was. It's a Madden game so the target audience has probably seen plenty of porn before, now if it was a game like "Cars" or another game targeted at a very young audience I'd have another opinion on the matter.

Um. i would say that they should send to me for er..inspection and professional review.LOL. I think dad took it (the game) for a dry run (no pun intended)and placed his copy of busty blondes in the case. This was probably dad's favorite flick and mistakenly placed it in the wrong case. Not realizing what he did, he shrink wrapped it again and placed in under the tree. In any case, why complain?

Proof this is a family of idiots.

1) The kid complained about porn in the first place
2) The parents gave up the only evidence they had

This would be easy honestly for a guy working at the packaging facility.

1) Burn porn on blank DVD at home
2) Slip disc into stack of unlabeled game discs at factory
3) DVD gets silkscreened and packaged
4) Wait for news article and laugh

They didn't say what kind of porn it was....Was it teen, animal, gay/lesbian, or anime? If I was him I would have been happy, porn isn't cheap these days, especially if it is good. I don't know why his parents contacted Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, they should have just kept it for themselves and bought Jr. another Madden game.

If this kid was REALLY smart, he would have claimed the box was empty (a much more believable story) and kept the porn, EA woulda shelled out the game no problem stating an error in the production line.
