Rumor: Tekken 6 on Xbox 360
Stirred by Sega's announcement of an Xbox 360 version of Virtua Fighter 5, comes rumor that Tekken 6 is also bound for Microsoft's console. The source of the rumor is the same anonymous "IGN insider" who has been apparently credited with breaking the Virtua Fighter 5 news before Sega confirmed it. If his latest spill proves valid, expect Namco Bandai's next Tekken on 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year. The article is mentioning the Bleemcast! version for Dreamcast. So, they are technically right for you could play Tekken 3 on Dreamcast but it was not an official release or even an authorized one.

This is gonna sound stupid, because I know how these rumors sound to the doubtful, but:
My buddy who works at EB was telling me that the studio who made resistance for PS3 doesn't actually have an exclusivity contract with Sony for that title. He also says that the studio is most pissed at sony for the piss poor performace of the PS3 in the market place.
This lead us to speculating that a R:FOM port for 360 is a very real possibility.
If things are falling apart as bad as they are for the 3rd parties on PS3, I wouldn't be too suprised it this rumor and the tekken rumor were true.
If this trend continues, PS3 will become last gen's Xbox. It still got all the good titles, but they came out for more popular and cheaper hardware first.

Exclusives will come and go; Especially since the developers haven't come up with anything innovative in the past 3, 4 or 5 versions of the same game with an added character or two.
Developers have become complacent and lack innovation; therefore they look to take the easy road and offer games non exclusively or exclusivley to Sonys competitors.
Proof! A particular horror game by capcom was released on a competing console and sold over 1,000,000 copies. This game offers nothing new; nor does the Grand Theft Auto Clone. Yet they were able to sell it to a competitor struggling to gain legitamacy along with it's gamers who were desperate for a new game that wasn't a FPS.
I do hope to see more exclusives disappear. This will allow the unknown game developer to introduce new and innovative games and gameplay that may have been overlooked in the past due to the monopolization of these other software companies and the exclusive/non exclusive deals to cover up a lack of innovation and getting a fast buck for the same repackaged games!
So go ahead and toot that Exclusive/Non Exclusivity horn! Let the other developers sneak in from behind and dismantle the Monopoly with new games and gameplay!

Is anyone really still into Tekken nowadays??? Tekken 3 was awesome, the PSX was worth getting just so you could play it; but after that the series became grew stale IMO, Tekken tag, Tekken 5... same crap with different names and prettier graphics. Now Tekken 6, who gives a sh!t?
Soul Calibur, now that's an exclusive worth fighting for(literally).

Resident Evil 4 was Game of the Year in many books. That game was absolutely innovative and completely redefined survival horror. It's also well known that it was, at least in the camera view, a major inspiration for Gears of War. Normally I ignore fanboy comments, but that is ridiculous. I bought a PS1 for the Resident Evil series, and then a Gamecube for RE4. Before it was released I was completely burnt out on the franchise but RE4 totally changed that.

This is just more and more developers realizing if they want to be exclusive to Sony, they're also going to have to explain to shareholders why they have huge losses.
Making games for the system that has 10x the install base of another is just smart business.

This is probably one game 360 owners will mostly ignore. There are a decent amount of good shooters on the 360 that it would probably get easily overlooked at this point. The only reason it did well was because it is the only thing that is halfway decent on the PS3. Its hype will not translate over to the 360.

You're misinterpreting his comments. He's saying that despite the fact that it sold so well on the GC and the developer was so hesitant to bring it to the PS2, it happened anyway. Just because it sells well doesn't mean that it's going to stay exclusive.
Crono141: Sorry, but I put zero credence in your story. Just because everyone's "got a friend they know on the internet at an EB" who spouts off stuff like that. Plus, it's not like the guys who work at those places know anything anyway. The majority of them I meet are so used to the 13-15 years old who walk in believing every word they say that when they actually encounter someone in the know, they're forced to backpedal faster than the American press left Floyd Landis.
In any case, even most of the Tekken players I know are burnt on Tekken. And in addition, good luck playing with the 360's crappy ass D-Pad. Unless Namco Bandait (That right there should tell you how much Namco's sales have been dropping...Namco BANDAI. Bandai bought Namco. How sad is THAT?!) completely redesigns the control scheme to use an analog (which would turn it into the single worst Tekken ever.) or bundles in a Hori controller they commission, you're going to find none of the Tekken faithful switching over to the 360 version. They'll either play it on the PS3 or in the arcades.

I've had a 360 for a month now, and I'll be happy if it gets every (non-Nintendo) game that comes out, because then I can play it. I don't care if Sony is hugely successful or goes out of business, I just want good games available for my chosen platform.
So if Tekken, GTA, Armored Core, and (fingers crossed) L.A. Noire all come to 360 -- I will be a happy camper.
Though it can doublecross you. I was happy when the Smackdown series was coming to 360 but the latest game was crap. Oh well. I hope Tekken 6 is at least good.

3rd party exlusives are going the way of the dinosour anyway. its just too expensive to release a title for only one system at this point in the game. unfortunately I never dug tekken. give me a good street fighter (I want SFA3 and SF3 on LIVE now!)and maybe a king of fighters comp and I'll be happy

It is sad that all this exclusive titles are jumping to the competence, but I think I still will remain with PS3 because over time, there will be another two consoles on the market from microsoft and nintendo and there will still be PS3, I mean, is worth the investment and is not like there is not going to be Tekken 6 or Virtua Fighter 5, those titles will be there, so who cares if they are on XBox or Wii... the importatn thing is, they are where they should be: on PS3!

Yeah. I don't remember Tekken for the Dreamcast. I do remember all about the Bleemcast though. Playstation fanboys were crying rivers because the Dreamcast could make PS games look better than the PS2 could. I thought that the only game the Bleemcast could play was Gran Turismo 1 or 2 before they got (rightfully) shut down. Anybody else remember? Oh ya, this will be pretty cool but I'm not getting my hopes up.

For me personally, if tekken jumped to xbox 360, the only two reasons i even thought of buying a ps3 (vf5 and tekken dr) would be gone. That being said, tekken dr should have been released for the ps2 in my opinion.

If teken were to come to 360 it would lose money becuase the average 360 user is too stupid to play a game like this. there too busy play with pinatas or pretending there Capt Kirk. 360 fans are made of of children and nerds! To say Resistance: Fall of Man is coming to the Xbox 360 is to say the exact same thing can happen to Gears of War going to the PlayStation 3. Where my logic you ask? Well maybe since even though Insominac is not an excluisve developer for SONY; the IP was published by SONY; meaning SONY has all the rights to Resistance: Fall of Man. Gears of War was developer by Epic; another developer that not a first part dev; but Gears of War could never go to the PlayStation 3 because it is published by Microsoft. And from what I have heard and read from the Insominac dev's they are very please with the PlayStation 3 and depsite the shortages of consoles; Resistance: Fall of Man has remain the top seller for the console And has almost hit the 400,000 mark. It maybe has there is no hard info on it yet; only speculation.

There was nothing "rightful" about bleemcast shut down. Us and international courts have ruled time and again that hardware emulation is perfectly legitimate and covered under fair use. You still had to own the original software for bleemcast to work, so nobody got cut out, except sony hardware.

When Sony lost exclusivity for Assassin's Creed I think that hurt them a bit. If Sony loses exclusivity on MGS, it will hurt them even more. And if they lose Tekken, that will hurt them a lot.
At a significantly higher price than the competition, and with massive shortages, the only thing PS3 has going for it is exclusivity on hit series like MGS and Tekken. If Sony starts losing those core series, it's gonna spell some trouble.
Not too many people buy Sony consoles for 1st party games, so if all that great 3rd party support that drove sales for PS2 through the roof also ends up on 360, I can't imagine too many people will pay the extra cash to stay loyal to Sony.

Perfect Dark is nintendo as well as Conker and Kameo was originally nintendos. Virtua fighter was for sony and so was gta. Another M$ FUD story... lets be real, Tekken isn't coming to 360, if it was, it would be a port of an old version with slightly updated graphics, while the PS3 gets a full new version with crazy Cell powered AI and 60fps 1080p visuals.
Let me guess, its coming to Wii as well... only they'll have to dumb it down for the wiimote, make it into something easier for the ninty fanbois, so you don't have to control the character's movements, just punch the air to do attacks and use 'gestures' for more advanced commands like grapples. It'll be so intuitive! To do a tackle, just draw a question mark with the wiimote! To do a dropkick, draw a figure 8! The Sony hate is waist deep on this site, get a grip.

Tekken was the only reason to own a PS2 instead of an XBOX. I picked up a 360 at launch and have no intention of buying a PS3, and until now thought my hopes of playing another iteration of Tekken were dashed. Damn, I hope this leak is true.

Yeah.. a LOT. I think sony can live without the 1 million copies of a game sold. Barely ANYONE bought Tekken 5. It just didn't sell well. I'm sure 6, on FAR fewer available systems, won't sell well either. Though I could be wrong, since it will look pretty and most stupid gamers don't know anything about gameplay anyway.
Right now the biggest blow to Sony, period, would be to lose the exclusivity of something like Kingdom Hearts. Everything else, which means Virtua Fighter, Final Fantasy, MGS, etc don't sell that many copies.

You need to play it to know it and by playing it, i dont mean playing it with ur 3 year old sissies or with the CPU on easy mode. Just get ur #%*/self to an arcade and see HOW MUCH detail namco have put in this BEST 3D/real life martial arts based fighting game.

YES. Finally. I don't care what people say, tekken is by far the best fighting game to play with friends, not only does it have the best characters, it seems to me to be the most finely balanced fighter out there. Plus, it is easily the most FUN game to play with friends, not only because it's just a great game, but because everyone knows how to play it at least half-decently. And yes, I know that isn't a word. But seriously though - awesome. I've been wanting this game (along with a small amount of others) for a long time, but couldn't be arsed to shell out for a ps2.

I really hope this comes true. I would pick up Tekken 6 for the 360 in a heartbeat.
If this were to be on the 360 - man, I'd be one happy camper. Gears, Virtua Fighter 5, Blue Dragon, and now, [possibly] Tekken 6??!!
Imagine playing Tekken 6 on Xbox Live!!!! The competition!! That's what fighting games are all about - going against other players. Xbox Live has been and still is the best platform to do this.
If they allowed for Live play against players from other countries... ahhhhhhhhh it'd be overrrrrr! There's a small niche for hardcore fighting game fans, and umm I must say, it's still very much alive and kicking. Console debates aside, these type of gamers really just gun for several key things: the best quality titles, best controller support, and best playability that would allow for the cleanest competition.
The PS2 is currently the best platform for fighting games, IMO; Soul Calibur 3, Tekken 5, various 2D fighters, etc. But that's last gen already. If Tekken 6 were to make a clean transition, with proper Xbox Live support, then we'd all be on to something...
