In other news, the 360 had more consoles on the shelves and is up to $200 cheaper.

Not that it hasn't been said before, but this isn't really news to anyone, is it?

Wii60 FTW!

This would be a good place to repost a comment I made earlier:

Reason #50515 why not to buy a PS3

Nobody who wants it is willing to pay $600 for it.

18 PS3's have been sitting in Best Buy in a VERY busy shopping district here in Kansas City. Not ONE has sold in the last 24 hours.

Here's a picture I took:

Low console sales = low game sales = low quality games (because developers can't sell enough game to pay off their investment)[Most seventh generation [360,PS3,excluding-Wii] games require a minimum of 500,000 copies sold in order to turn a profit]

As great as this is, the only reason it outsold the Wii was because there weren't enough Wiis available. If there were like 10 mill Wiis available, I'm sure the Wii would've sold 10 mill.

Time for the 360 to have a price cut:

$329 for the premium.
$249 for the core.

Its actually better than it looks for MS. The 360 was able to out sell both other consoles at launch (sure their sales were limited). At launch console sales are fast and furious, the fact that the 360 was able to hold its own one year later is a good sign for them.

I've love to see the global sales figures to see how the sales went elsewhere. (just how much work does sont have to do in europe?)

i know this is off the topic but i wanted some views. My 360 just got the 3 flashing red lights and i was wondering was it because i had too much hooked up to it. I have my 360 in a pelican fan stand. my hd-dvd player is hooked up to the 360 via usb,my wireless adpator snaped on the back of the hd-dvd,the fan stand plugged into the second slot of the hd-dvd. Since the fan stand usb is double-sided, i also have my live camera plugged into the fan stand usb. Do you think this might have cause the 360 to die because it was draining too much power?

Brian James - just playing devil's advocate, but how do you know those aren't empty PS3 boxes just sitting in a store display?

360 forevah! (even though mine just broke)

hard to judge the relative success of the consoles when the avilabilities were so different. I think the 360 will be outsold by the Wii by a wide margin and MS won't care one bit.

You just have to scratch your head on the PS3, though. What does Sony offer that isn't available at a cheaper price somewhere else?

Employees at local Target begged for me to buy a PS3. I said, no, I want a Wii.

Yeah, so those fans probably do more damage than good for your 360. They pull a LOT of power from the USB bus, and make your already taxed 360 power circuitry really strain. And, since it provides NO cooling ot the power supply, it's not doing any good for the thing it's heating up. Have you tried unplugging everything and seeing if it works?

I want a PS3. I'll give them $200. That's still too much to pay for FFXIII, but it'd probably be worth it. Other than that, screw Blu-ray, Sony, and their waffle iron. :)

Okay, okay...so I haven't playing 360 all week.

The more time passes, the more I think Microsoft's year head-start was the best decision they ever made. 2006 was a good release year, but Gears of War looks to be the beginning of a slew of blockbusters. Their head start ensures that Microsoft will remain one step ahead of Nintendo and Sony throughout this generation.

I'm a Wii60 owner and thereby a dual fanboy, but looking at Wii's 2007 releases, it looks like almost all of the big titles will be Nintendo's own franchises (the same trap they fell in with the GC and N64). Without big third-party support, there's no way Wii sales will continue as briskly as they've been so far. Of course, Nintendo is still making big bucks and helping expand the size of the videogame market (by introducing casual gamers) to boot.

PS3, let's not even talk about that. Except for a few titles, their 2007 releases are still games you'll be able to get for the Xbox 360. PlayStation and PS2 ruled for one main reason: exclusives. Without big exclusives, Sony's reign is over.

Conclusion: Once again, Wii60 FTW

I think you havent done ur reaserch...the Wii has more games in develompment then the ps3...the wii has 130+ games in the making...and if thats not 3rd party suport...thenj whats 3rd party...wile the 360 only has 200+ games in the making and it had a year start...this is the best time for Nintendo tu recover...they Will bring out 15 games till march 31...and only 1 or 2 of em are 1st party...I mean the 360 is good...but i think in the the Wii wqill be at first and the 360 at 2nd...because of the Wii's cheap development cosr...you will see once it reaches 10million consoles sold...more the developers will flock the train...

It's good for M$ that the 360 is selling well because it shows that buyers arent avoiding its purchase and holding out for P$3. This factor helped bring down the Dreamcast when people held off to buy the P$2.

Well... all this fuss about the xbox 360, yes a departed fan, the force took me to the dark side, the black PS3, now sitting in my living room blows away any system on the market. You would have thought Microsoft might have adjusted pricing or shipped an hd unit in the new systems, but they did nothing but sell a stand alone hd player bringing their price up to $599 to equal the PS3. Well Fanboy... the xbox 360 obsolete and cant match the gaming experience the PS# is offering... Buy the way... online gaming is FREE!!!
