Big Brother taps PSP, in UK
UK PSP owners may be surprised to find their handhelds' web browsers being automatically directed to Channel 4's 4Radio website when launching from one of The Cloud's 7,500 public wi-fi hotspots. Don't worry, it's all part of the plan.According to Channel 4 Radio director Nathalie Schwarz, the deal with wi-fi provider The Cloud is part of an effort to "connect with a young, mobile audience," the lot who's hungry for "bold and mischievous radio programming," but doesn't want to turn on the radio. If you find Celebrity Big Brother podcasts being aggressively pushed onto your PSP completely invasive, you're not alone. This is one PSP novelty we hope is never adopted again.

Gosh, I don't know... being innundated with Pete Burns in an aqua leotard might be a fun way to start the morning!

I didn't think anyone watched that steaming pile of crap of a show anymore. Or had a PSP too, for that matter.

It's kinda funny how off-spin blog PSPFanboy covers this so differently, calling it a "very cool feature", yet here it is seen as aggressive, and violating.

So is everyone in the house yet?

It all depends, James, on how it is being done. If it is actually a collaberation between Sony and the radio station, then yeah, that's a bit disturbing. I don't want my device hijacked at your whim plzkthx.
If, however, it is as I think and they simply have their routers set up to push a website portal when you connect and first browse on their network, then it is quite normal and kosher. And in that case it should also apply to laptop users connecting to their spots as well (unless they've actually (for some odd reason) somehow restricted it down to applying only to PSPs).
