Katamari Damacy XBLA rumor is "total crap"

It looks like Katamari Damacy is not bound for Xbox Live Arcade, as suggested by the already-suspicious Electronic Gaming Monthly Rumor Mill. In a short-but-sweet forum post on XBLArcade, Worldwide Xbox Live Arcade Games Portfolio Manager Ross Erickson decried the rumor as "total crap - not happening."
The authenticity of the post has purportedly been verified by forum admin Tomacco. For those who can't let the dream die, it could still be an Xbox 360 retail title, but we'd have to see a massive drop in the standard price or some heavy-duty features (Katamari MMO? 720p?) to justify a $60 price point.
The EGM-fostered rumor also mentioned PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii iterations; the former seems likely, as the Katamari franchise has historically been linked to Sony, but we're not holding our breath for a Wii Love Katamari.

Damn.
I for one would LOVE some high-res Katamari rolling action on my 360. Oh well.
Anything ever happen with the DS version that was meant to be coming out?

Wii Love Katamari... cute.
I'd totally buy it if it came to XBLA.

So tell me, why is a Wii version of this game the least likely? Since Sony systems have released previous versions a PS3 makes sense. The Wii's control scheme seems to be the perfect fit for the series. The lack of HD graphics shouldn't affect any potential for the series to come on the Wii. It's not like the previous games have maxed out the PS2 and PSP's graphics.
And yeah GunForHire what did happen to that DS version?
It seems that Namco is very quiet about future games in this series. Also people who could benefit from rumors are quickly clamping down on said "rumors". Hmmmmmmmmmm?

XBLA Katamari would be amazing (and would let me finally sell off my PS2, as this is really the only game I'm keeping it around for). But didn't Keita Takahashi, the temperamental creator of the series, quit making videogames after making the sequel (which I think he didn't even want to make in the first place)? Who owns the rights to the big rolling ball? I'm not sure if anyone's planning to make another katamari game ever.

Damn, I'd kill for a Wii Katamari installment! I guess Elebits will have to tide me over for now...it is fun and very addictive in a similar manner, but I miss the Katamari music!

Or, it could be priced at the low entry price point, like Rockstar Presents Table Tennis.

Katamari Damacy is doone with, for now. The designer said, after Me and My Katamari (PSP), they'll take a break from Katamari for a while. Besides, is Namco even supporting Wii? Outside of Japan?

I resisted commenting earlier but there are only two comments and no one mentioned the underpants gnomes. WTF? That was a fantastic reference that is applicable in day to day life. How?
Step 1. Use the Phrase.
Step 3. Profit.

Another lame rumor stirred up by the xbox2 fanboyz. Just like MGS coming to xbox2 and Crysis coming to xbox2. At this point I don't even need to read the articles on Joystiq any more to know these rumors will turn out to be utter fabrications by the end of the day.
epobirs @ Jan 3rd 2007 3:20PM
I cannot imagine why you believe this would have to be a full price game. We've already had the $40 Table Tennis do very well for itself. Seeing as the PS2 entries were bargain priced, it shouldn't be inconsistent to do the same on the Xbox 360.
A Wii version seems to be a no-brainer. The core of the game would be trivial and very inexpensive to port, leaving plenty of opprtunity to focus on the controls to make it of interest to first-time players as well as owners of the PS2 entries.

Would have been cool with a TotemBall-like XBLA game. Just that they actually made the game work, unlike TotemBall.
Snap, crackle and pop!

Wasn't he going to announce he was doing something else a few months ago?
What ever happened to THAT?
Angelo @ Jan 3rd 2007 9:04PM
I would like to see it on Xbox 360, but, I have a very hard time believing it would fit under XBLA's 50MB limit. I thought most people would have concluded the same and dismissed the rumor, but apparently not.
