Rockstar appoints old friend as new COO
Rockstar has announced that Gary Dale has become its new Chief Operating Officer. Most recently Dale had been Capcom's European managing director, but from 1994 to 1998, he served as president of the Interactive Software and Video Division of BMG Entertainment (until Take-Two acquired BMG in 1998). During that time Dale oversaw the release of Grand Theft Auto, developed by DMA Design (now Rockstar North)."Having been involved in the formation of what later became Rockstar Games, I am now thrilled to become a member of the team at such an exciting time," remarked Dale. "We are delighted to bring Gary back to Rockstar Games," added Sam Houser, Rockstar founder.

This could bode well for Grand Theft Auto IV. Having one of the team members of the original game onboard could perhaps lead to a more retro feel in the new game. The first two GTAs allowed for far more freedom than any of the games designed by Rockstar, which isn't an easy accomplishment.

He's just another ball tickler. It will play just like the other sandboxers with or without him.

Actually im pretty sure the original team members are on board. GTA games are actually developed in Edinburgh by Rockstar north. Theres a lot of references to scotland in San Andreas. They even recreated some real life bridges in the game. I know this because i live there.

"At such an exciting time."
With all of Rockstar's drama over the past months/years, "exciting time" is certainly a positive view!
I agree that it's a good thing.

Rockstar is one of those companies who's games you can always bank on. With the exception of table tennis, I've played through each one of their games (still working on Bully) and enjoyed each one thoroughly.
Another similar company that comes to mind is Blizzard.

So can anybody elaborate on what exactly a Chief Operating Officer's job duties entail? Tis bit of a crap article as it doesn't really frame anything in perspective.
Also, I might be going out on an unpopular limb here but the original GTA was a bit crap as well. It didn't really make an impression till GTA III (which launched in 2001, to frame the reference).
