Wii optimized internet radio site surfaces

Finetune, a social streaming (read: internet radio) service, has launched in public beta offering a Wii-friendly interface with large, Fisher Price-like icons perfectly suited for the console's standard definition output. Though lacking in features and while forcing users to listen to "like band" playlists rather than a straight session of say, Daft Punk, the service plays current songs as you navigate for new tuneage, includes a large selection of artists, and features nifty jukebox navigation a la iTunes 7. Get to feet tappin'!

Is this basically pandora for the Wii? Sounds cool.
Shoaib @ Jan 3rd 2007 11:10PM

It is great. Now we just need a wii-friendly RSS reader.
supasta @ Jan 3rd 2007 11:12PM
www.finetune.com/wii
That is the address. Type it into the Opera browser on your Wii.

Pandora has been up and running for quite a while. Why shoud this very same service be banned?
Spilt_Milk @ Jan 3rd 2007 11:35PM
Things like this will ensure that the wii will dominate the ps3. What a great little site.
invader alex @ Jan 4th 2007 12:08AM
Daft Punks rocks...
Around the word rocks...
This rocks...
syco @ Jan 4th 2007 1:33AM
Spilt_milk, eh, I think the PS3 has a webbrowser actually, it's the 360 that doesn't.
I also don't believe this sort of thing is going to amount jack squat. It's the games that will define the consoles, like the consoles before it. This sort of thing is cool, but not enough to make or break a console's sucess.
Sony is good enough at digging their own grave, you need not lend them a hand.
Longshotx @ Jan 4th 2007 1:10AM
Standard Definition FTW...NOOOOT!!!
Deth @ Jan 4th 2007 1:20AM
Michel Gondry FTW!
Cheers!
Rubang @ Jan 4th 2007 1:26AM
Deth is correct, albeit inappropriate.

This Rocks!
Nintendo, if you're listening, you need to partner with these guys, or with Pandora or another similar service, and make this into its own channel. Pronto.
razer @ Jan 4th 2007 1:52PM
Oh I need to try this on my 360 ASAP! Whoooops! I forgot the 360 is "too good" to have a web browser. Or maybe it's because they will get the magical "Xbox360 Virus" that is always being brought up. Remember it's about CHOICE, so you have a choice to surf somewhere else and not on the Xbox. hahaha It's great to be a PS3 or Wii owner!!
some person @ Jan 4th 2007 2:03PM
online radio for Wii? sweet.
Mykel @ Jan 4th 2007 2:09PM
The address is www.finetune.com/wii but we've temporarily disabled it because it uncovered a big bug in our search engine code that was causing all sorts of fire and destruction. Teknision is a great bunch of people who do flash client development for us and who have helped out with many many other things we do.
We're making a couple quick bug fixes and then we'll get the music playing again... Thanks all.
