The last Zelda games I played prior to TP were Ocarina and Majora's Mask. I loved them both, especially Ocarina. But I was younger and the games really challenged me. I remember taking a week in the water dungeon almost made me quit. Conquering Ocarina without help felt like a great accomplishment.

I think Zelda TP is way too easy. I am not quite finished, but from what I hear the last 2 dungeons don't really get any harder. I don't know if it is because I am older now that the game is so easy but I would probably give the game an 8.8 as well because of the whole zero challenge thing.

If it had a difficulty setting or something I would be enjoying it more. Don't get me wrong, it is a great game and I feel weird giving it a score under a 9 when there is so much brilliance in it. But If I play a game 80 hours or whatever to beat it and don't feel challenged at any point other than perfecting some mini-games and a couple puzzles, I can't call it an absolutely awesome game, even if it is Zelda. That is just me, though. A lot of other people probably like easy games.

Twilight Princess was designed to allow newer gamers to be able to finish it, which explains why it isn't as hard as past Zeldas. That doesn't mean that it's not as good, though.

Greg is a wonderful guy, and I'll miss seeing him at the office! Best of luck to him.

But man... you gotta love the Internet. A nice post on a respected editor spirals down into a yelling match about a review that Greg didn't even write. It's too bad.

All the Zeldas are easy any way, except for the first two. The difference in difficulty between OoT and TP is marginal at best.

The thing that pissed me off about Gamespot is that they have the audacity to say their reviews are NOT opinionated. Can't find a link, but on several occasions Kasavin himself said that he believed their reviews were a factual assertion of a game's quality.

I always considered Greg one of my favorite reviewers and it is a loss to see him go. I wonder how his critical side will fit in with the corporate side of game developers.

As far as Gaming review sites go, I don't think they have enough structure to thier review system to be consistent.

Okami had Midi music and Greg stated it has "excellent audio". Okami also did not have voice acting and it gets a 9.0 which is superb. As far as taking off a point on Zelda for having MIDI music, well I think that's just nit-picky and possibly biased .

When you take a point off of Zelda for Midi music and you call the same MIDI style in another game excellent, I think an "excellent" point can me made that you are biased.

@ #10

Actually, Greg didnt review Twilight Princess, so it's not his fault. Blame Jeff Gertsman for that review. However, Greg did give PDZ an undeserved 9.0, but that was really the only review of his I can recall that was a little off.

Bizarre...I know that a lot of gamers want to be gaming-press journalists, and that a lot of gamers want to be developers, but it never occurred to me that the editor-in-chief of a major gaming press site might be a wannabe developer. Should be interesting to see which discipline he goes into.
