Shivering Isles: first full-length Oblivion expansion
The latest issue of PCZone spills the beans on Shivering Isles, Bethesda's first true Oblivion expansion (Knights of the Nine was really just a lengthy quest). The expansion is set in a new realm, the Shivering Isles, a ruined land controlled by Sheogorath, the god of madness and dementia. Players must overcome the god's trials, and apparently, the god itself, ultimately seizing control of its domain. The expansion will include new monsters and a series of branching quests, which allegedly expand Oblivion's freeform gameplay. The description implies that players' decisions will have various visible affects on the transformation of the Shivering Isles.
Bethesda has not yet announced the forthcoming expansion, but PCZone suggests a Q2 2007 release window. We assume that, as with all added content to date (barring player mods), Shivering Isles will also be offered for the Xbox 360 and (impending) PlayStation 3 versions of Oblivion.

I just got this issue in the mail yesterday. So far, the expansion definitely looks good. Reminds me a lot of Morrowind. One of the main problems I had with Oblivion is that it was too plain. Standard town, hill, mountains, etc. At least this looks to change things up a bit.

Finally, something more than just lame add-on content. I hope it's not going to cost an extra $60 though.

Does this mean being level 25-30 won't make the game way too easy?

#3, you know there is a difficulty slider in the options screen right? I don't know if you have that maxed out already.

I find the main quest virtually impossible for my sneak char at level 25... Oblivion doesn't have much in the way of shadows...

More importantly - will the expansion bring new achievements for the Xbox 360 version?
I've clocked up more than a hundred hours in Oblivion and scored 1000/1000 points... While I love the game, I'll feel a bit ripped off if the "first true Oblivion expansion" doesn't expand my Gamerscore.

Finally! Knights of the Nine was ridiculous - I completed it in an evening. Unless you're supposed to play it through before you've completed the main quest.

#6 we all agree with you when you say you want more gamerscore points...... but its not going to happen, microsoft allows games to have acheivment point max. at 1000 points even though shivering isles is a expanision it does not qualify for a entire game by its self

I believe that the Shivering Islaes has 10 new achievments to unlock.
