When will we get a real baseball game for the Wii? I'm sure I'll love playing Mario Baseball Super All Stars or whatever they will call it. However, most of the fun of playing sports games (IMO) is playing as your favorite players.

And what the heck--2K sports didn't know that the Wii was going to be a factor this spring? All the more reason they should get their monopoly taken away from them.

"So if not this year, expect MLB 2K9 to be the real winner."

You mean 2K8, right? That would be the third one.

@Jonah:

The comments in the article are taken out of context. Brinkman was brought in this year to essentially build the game up from scratch. The reason is that 2k5 wasn't great, 2k6 wasn't any better, and MLB (and presumably, MLBPA) were not happy about the quality of product. Supposedly, if 2K doesn't get it done right this time, they are in danger of losing the Exclusivity License.

So, what Brinkman (who previously did EA's MVP series) is saying is that 2k7 will be about getting the core baseball playing experience right. 2k8 will add features and focus on an improved Franchise mode. 2k9 will be the culmination of everything with even more added features.

As for Jeter being on the cover, there is no surprise. He signed a multiple-year contract with 2K a couple years ago, I think. Again, this is not a big surprise seeing as how this is the ONLY third-party MLB game available and MLB is convinced that Jeter is the "face of baseball".

Here here, #2! 2k6 was the worst baseball game I've played since Mike Piazza's Strike Zone on the N64.

I wish 2K sports put as much effort into baseball as they do hockey and basketball (and football a few years ago).

I'd kill for a good baseball game. I miss All-Star baseball (especially N64 versions) so much.

All Star Baseball '98 on N64...
I had some great times with that game. I would get in like 2 minute pickles with my friends just for fun :)

First of all the cover boy should have been Ryan Howard the NL MVP. Also, 2k baseball games are absoultly terrible especially the last one. I wish MVP Baseball would come back! :(
