Gamepro expo redubbed "E for All"

The "E" referring to "Entertainment" mind you, not the easily obtainable street drug. Let's face it, the joke comparing gaming trade shows to free-for-all drug parties practically tells itself.
On the topic of terrible and somewhat inappropriate jokes, Gamepro's website has officially revealed the new title for their upcoming "E3 follow-up" expo, to be held in association with IDG World Expo. Equal parts Marx and Mork, "Entertainment for All Expo" is the winning title chosen out of 3,000 entries on Gamepro's website. It certainly speaks volumes about the quality of the other 2,999.
The E for All Expo is fully endorsed by the Entertainment Software Association, despite it flying in the face of E3's concerns like a shrieking bat. The event will give consumers the chance to experience all manner of games and gadgetry, allowing them to purchase some of the items they've seen on the way out. E For All will also host gaming tournaments, job fairs and Video Games Live concerts.
Throbbing mass of gamers -- check. Extraordinarily loud music -- check. "No longer just for industry insiders" -- check. The evidence makes it quite clear. This is the successor to E3. Looks like members of the press will just have to make due with Min-E3 (at least it has a cooler name).
[Thanks fonz!]

As a trade show, it'll go all to pot--sorry, couldn't resist. The reason E3 was mostly successful was that by pretending to be exclusive, it gave cover to members of the industry who wanted to get work done there, having in-depth discussions and demos and whatnot, and not just hanging out with booth babes comparing demo videos of the next 133+ FPS's. Now that the barn doors have been opened, it's going to look that that horrible event Gamespot hosted a few months back. PLAY, was it?

I thought the reason E3 got nixed is because the developers weren't getting a proper return on the ridiculous amount of money they spent on putting on a show. Why would they be any more willing to spend that much money on THIS expo?

Um ... not to be a dork. But "All" doesn't start with E.

I thought the E was named for the ESRB rating
Its E for All (or Everyone)
certainly would have made more sense, and been a nice inside (Gamers only) joke to boot, than "Entertainment"

Ludwig, where is the Japanese hardware sales chart?

The thing I liked about E3 was that it was in May. Then you had TGS in September.
It was like you wait half a year, get your avalanche of announcements, then wait another half a year, and repeat.
Now they are intending for the spiritual successor to E3 to be a mere 3 weeks after TGS (assuming TGS remains in September)? Will Japanese game companies want to budget and plan for two game shows so close together?

...So they changed some E3 rules and the name.
