Didn't Sony mention that they would not have retro titles on their online service? I remember an article where they said that they wouldn't have retro titles and only have original content. They even made a dig at MS and Nintendo for having retro titles.

Yeah RAMPART!!! I hope -Nintendo- sees this, opens their eyes and "teams up with Midway" to create some updated version with the remote as the trackball replacement!
ALSO YAY FOR CHAMPIONSHIP SPRINT, MKII.

I wonder whether all the sony fanboys that ragged on MS for "crappy ports" on games like Joust at launch will be touting these games because they are being developed by Sony themselves? And I wonder if they'll be able to defend their previous "why would I pay $400 for a 360 just to play geometry wars?" comments when they have to pay $600 to play Joust.

I wonder...

I'm just annoyed they'll have Gauntlet II. :/ 360 only has Gauntlet.

Oh such innovators over there at Sony, what will they think of next?

I believe the comment was that they wouldn't focus on retro titles. All the PSOne games that will soon be playable on the PS3 could fall under that retro title, so it wouldn't make sense.

Gripshift, Lemmings, flow, Tekken DR, Gran Turismo HD -those fall under the innovative online distribution category. Joystiq just hasn't covered the release of those titles to the extent they could have done.

Love me some Rampart! Do we know whether it will be more like the clunky NES version or the outstanding SNES version?

I just want to see Hydro Thunder and Primal Rage next from Midway. Maybe even Gex I know it is not the best game out there but it might be fun to play again.

You know, as someone who already has 540 credits earned on Gripshift yet angered at the lack of native console four player support, I can say this is only a step forward.

HOWEVER, as long as it remains a fairly original content centered endeavor, it should be alright. And please, no broken releases like Contra (360) or Zelda (Wii). I mean, seriously. Aside from the SNK announcement a few weeks back, this is the first of the officially confirmed retro titles. Up until this point, they've either been remakes or new games.

So, just MAME'd (or equivalent) versions of the same games I have on a pair of discs I bought for my Xbox and Gamecube (on ps2 as well), with more games, also dev'd by Digital Eclipse?
Midway made 2 discs full of these games a while back on all the platforms, and all the platforms are backwards compatible. I would think that the Xbox versions were left off the list to not cannibalize XBLA.

To #6: There are three Midway Arcade Treasures discs, not 2. And yeah, they'd have to do a hell of a lot to these to keep people from just buying the PS2 versions. The fact they are being done by SOE, and not DE, doesn't exactly fill me with much faith. That said, Gripshift was done quite well, so I guess we'll see. Now, as always, WHERE THE **** IS TEKKEN?

"Oh such innovators over there at Sony, what will they think of next?"

Nintendo releases old 20 year old crud (there's some *really* shitty stuff in Virtual Console) for a total rip off price of $5-$10 a piece for Wii => INNOVATION!1!

Sony does the same => they suck!!

Get a fucking grip, guys. It's all the rage to hate Sony nowadays, but it's really getting a bit old by now. Go to digg or something - there's more of your kind.

Rampart and Gauntlet II were Atari games, not Williams/Midway.

congrats to ps3 owners on mk2. i think that maybe they got the message that mk3 is not what people wanted on 360. hopefully it will do well on ps3 and we'll get it on 360.
