1: open the box ... 2: put your games in that box ... 3: now just carry the box ... and that's the way you do it!

The idea behind Shogakukan's Hyper Carrying Case (¥480; $4) is simple: it's made to look like a standard retail box, but when you pop it open, you discover a storage case for
It's not the best game carrier we've come across, but it's dirt cheap, and a clever play on the standard DS case.

It's your games in a box!

You can fit six games comfortable in a current case One in the center two on the left and two on the right and then one in the top compartment where a gba game should go. No use in spending money for a case :/

I don't know what's sillier... that Joystiq is quoting that video, or that ESPN beat them to it by nearly a week.
AJay17 @ Jan 9th 2007 7:45PM
Looks to me like there are 4 DS spots. Not 3. Maybe im wrong

Ah, Dick in a Box is so great.

Best. Idea. Ever.
Seriously... You can take the crappy pre-made japanese art out of the sleeve, then add your own!
Matt @ Jan 9th 2007 7:48PM
Is it just me, or are there clearly four DS game spots and a GBA game spot?

Great Post!
clu @ Jan 9th 2007 7:58PM
There are for four spots for DS games, but if you follow the read link you will see that the same counting error was made at siliconera.com as well. That's what happens when you let someone else do your math.
Kesh @ Jan 9th 2007 7:58PM
maybe you should add news about current affairs, sports, hell even big brother before allowing this sort of breaking news on to joystiq. Is this the product we've all been waiting for?

I just stuff my games in next to my DS in the soft carry case. The DS size game boxes don't fit in my pocket. What is the point of a portable system if it doesn't fit in your pocket?! :)
Amos @ Jan 9th 2007 8:02PM
Yeah, I concur the "You can fit plenty of games in a standard boc already," sentiment. This is a bog standard rip off.
willie @ Jan 9th 2007 8:05PM
my friend tobi is half-japanese, and he bought 1 of these over the summer in japan, and it holds 4 DS games and 1 GBA game
really cool case, i'll tell him to get me one next time
Lorben @ Jan 9th 2007 8:08PM
You can fit 6 DS games in a tin of Altoids Chewing Gum. 8 if you pop out the curved bottom.
PrimeCupEevee @ Jan 9th 2007 8:21PM
The only Japanese character I could recognize there is Manaphy in the upper right hand corner (Pokémon from the Diamond/Pearl generation, though only obtainable through playing Pokémon Ranger; and also star of the 9th movie).
I would personally get a smaller game case, since it would be more portable, but it could have some uses.
PF @ Jan 9th 2007 8:31PM
Try to find Nintendo Power Mints. After you finsh the mints the case holds 12 DS games.
It's like it was made to serve that dual purpose.

This is pretty retarded. Just get a real case, and hey, it would hold your game system too! What a concept!
MizB @ Jan 9th 2007 10:53PM
Best. Most portable case. Ever: Dentyne Ice* mints boxes.
Come in red and blue. Fit 8 DS carts very nice and snugly = fit in your pants pocket and the cartridges won't fall out of the open box till you want to take one out.
*Their slogan even fits: "Shake out a little intense refreshment."
