Castlevania on XBLA, hot whipping action
9
Oh, we have waited for this day. We present to you the first video footage of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for Xbox Live Arcade. Fresh from CES, the video shows off the opening scene of the game, in which you play out the prologue (and determine the main character's beginning stats). Worth noting is the fact that the video contains both the original music and voice acting from the Playstation version. If Konami has managed to squeeze the game and all of its (amazing) audio into 50MB, we'll be very impressed. The footage is unfortunately very shaky, but we'll take what we can get. And just for the record, we were not the ones playing. Because we would totally kick Dracula's ass, and, you know, actually hit him.

Man it's going to be so easy to unlock the achievements for this game. I'm officially hooked on the original disc, and have 206% completion.

Dude, this is like the episode of Star Trek where Scotty went nuts.
This is the straw that broke the camel's back in convincing me to get a 360. Now I need to find where to get one used for as cheap as possible. $400 is still too rich for my blood for a video game console.

Castlevania SOTN: Over.rated.
It was kind of like Super Metroid, with a different theme, plus it was significantly easier. Also, the music was not nearly as good as everyone claimed.
Granted, Castlevania annoys the hell out of me, as it suffers from what I've come to call "Zelda Syndrome". Zelda Syndrome is definited as a series that receives praise only because it meets the standard of it's own series, even though there are many games who surpasses said standards.
Example: a zelda is not a good game just because it's zelda.

God damnit... it better let us play the game in full screen, without shitty borders. Borders have turned me off of so many XBLA games...

Hey I'm the first to agree with you when it comes to old games getting unjustified respect. But when you consider that SOTN is the last good Castlevania not on a portable then, SOTN is worth picking up for the average 360 owner. But yea, all the 2D Castlevanias have been getting undue respect for basically not being terrible. While not necessarily being great.
