Minter talks Space Giraffe, cuddles sheep
Jeff Minter reports on the status of Space Giraffe, his psychedelic homage to his own Tempest 2000. With the game engine complete, Minter sounds optimistic that an actual framework can be compiled (levels, lives, bonuses, achievements, etc.) and shipped out for testing within a few weeks. Minter writes, "the bulk of the implementation work is done and [now it's] more about small touches, construction of behaviours, and planning of the diff curve }:-)."If development stays on schedule, Space Giraffe could be complete by April and flushed into the Xbox Live Arcade pipeline. When it would come out the other end is anybody's guess. At least Minter's got his sheep.

The day Space Giraffe is released is the day my Atari Jaguar becomes completely obsolete.

This is perhaps the ONE title on XLBA I can't wait to play.

Sigh. The one game that made my Jaguar worth it's weight in gold. Tempest 2000 I miss ye. But since this is the spiritual successor to Tempest 2000, I think I'll be quite happy.

One of the main reasons I kept my Xbox360 over the summer drought was the knowledge of this game. Now I have Gears of War and I REALLY am glad I kept it now anyway. Its getting better for Xbox360.
I'm an old Jag veteran too. TK2 is the best game ever made (IMO). I managed to rack over 2.2 million points on it and almost completed it in one sitting (Killed off on level 98). Im crap at it nowadays like. Old man now.
Go on Jeff, ya bugger! can't wait for this one, been following your stinkin' thinkin' YAK diary for a few years now, makes an interesting read, especially the history of Llamasoft :)
