Today's most geometric game video: Geometry Wars PC 'Vista'

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved has had its own little evolution, going from minigame, to full-fledged console game, and now it'll be dropping onto PCs everywhere and we've got the video to prove it. Yes, it's retro gaming action that takes you back to the land of arcade quarter-eaters like Tempest and Qix ... and it's incredibly addictive fun.
Check out the Vista version in action after the jump. It looks pretty spiffy on that monitor, or else the brightness levels are just kicked up to 11. Either way, PC users can finally toss Minesweeper and Solitaire away, because this will be the new king of the timesuck in cubicle-land.

Wait... You won't need vista to play this I hope! I was actually kinda looking forward to getting it since it may be several years before I invest in a 360, but I have never bought Windows and I don't plan on starting now... If this doesn't work on XP I won't bother.

The "stay at the center" strategy looks interesting, I never thought about that one.

No, no.. sometimes you move.. you just don't know why you moved. Mono was fun, GridWars was okay, but Xwars was just plain annoying and a waste of 15 seconds of download.

there are so many cool free clones for download on PC already.. what's the point?

Hum, did anyone notice in the last bit of the video that the blue background grid doesn't warp as you shoot, like it does in the 360?? It's a pretty awesome effect and they turned it off?

Yeah, they had the brightness turned up to 11.
Some screens only go 10 - you're on 10 here, all the way up, where can you go from there? Put it up to 11. These ones are brighter, they go to 11.

A Grid Wars is fine too.

Cool if it isn't vista-only. If it is, forget it. I'll stick to clones.
At no point in time do I see 'upgrading' to vista being a good idea. Not even for this game.

Because, Young Grasshopper, Geometry Wars (PC) will be integrated with Live Anywhere service allowing you to have the XBox Live Leaderboard AND Achievements. It's like being on the 360 on your computer. You'll be playing UNO, Shadowrun, (Halo 2?) etc against 360 players DIRECTLY.

I certainly hope they wont make you buy a 360 controller to play Vista games.
