Gears of War video -- new maps walkthrough

With new maps for Gears of War hitting consoles today, a lot of you are probably going to wander into them, Lancer in hand, and say ... what the hell?! That's because you ain't used to 'em yet, ya noobs. So, there's a handy dandy video walkthrough for you to watch, and go in forearmed with a tiny bit of knowledge. Not that it'll help you from getting chainsawed out of the blue, but maybe it'll give a tiny bit of an edge.
Check out the video after the jump, and also the individual video map walkthroughs both new maps, Raven Down and Old Bones. Then pray for more maps and game types to come trickling down the Epic pipeline. Maybe even a vehicle we can drive? Please? It's either that or we start the "CliffyB Needs a Haircut, Bad" movement.
The new maps overview, plus some words from The Cliff.
Black Do ... er, Raven Down map walkthrough.
Old Bones map walkthrough. Shibby.

Kinda boring.

that patch didn't fix anything. it actually made things worse concerning multi-play.
search results for finding your own match with default options are a pathetic six or seven games with hosts from as far as Germany and Korea, WTF!?. and good luck joining any of them that have at least 4 already inside. i got 9 consecutive "can't connect" after before finally getting into one. the final straw was the horrendous lag still present unless your hosting, of course.
I'm hoping it was just an isolated incident which why i'll try again tonight but im pretty much through with this game. free maps are worthless with so much broken gameplay.

raven down sucks. but old bones is kick ass...

After the patch it took 5 minutes before connecting to any online match and then it would tell me can't connect. Now when i'm trying to host a co-op it freezes and then gives me a few red rings of death. WTF

Actually I prefer Raven down, the action is intense once you know wtf is going on. NEVER a dull game in it.
Old Bones on the other hand, too large, too much walking to get to sniper/boom etc... has potential but not as instantly gratifying as raven down which is now one of the best online maps.
And the game is still good online even after months of playing.

I bought it on the 17th of last year. 1 week before the warranty would've expired. How lucky am I.

I like the new maps, but the update made the weapons all messed up? The shotgun can now hit you from along distance? The shotgun does not kill anyone from firing from the hip? oh well!
admangreendog @ Jan 11th 2007 4:00AM
I didn't have any problems after the update was installed, it definitely fixed the annoying mic issues when people joined late.
I don't much like Raven Down, I find it a bit small..the details of the level itself, are, however spectacular..You can see where the helicopter hit the side of thebuilding and went through the train track..awesome.
I really like bones, lots of oppurtunity to flank..
I think its a real shame some people are having big problems with multiplayer, because they are being deprived of one of the most incredible online experiences I have ever has the pleaseure to play.

did anyone notice they have pay walk thru versions of the other maps for 100 pts a piece?
Jason @ Jan 11th 2007 6:27AM
i think epic is learning (by all the grief they are getting) just how important multiplayer is in the post halo 2 world.

i like raven down but i only see two problems with the new maps lag is horrinle i mean everyone i talk to gets the connection error atleast twice a match and raven down only creates more hatred towards people who frag tag, but atleast with the new update you have to be closer to tag them oh and p.s. that whole deal where you cant see the host name so friends can't find the game is retarded.
luke @ Feb 22nd 2007 10:41PM
raven downs not too great, but old bones is intense.
as for lag i really didnt have a problem with it in like 30 games i got probably 5 connection errors n they wernt even that long. i can live with that
