It seems like The Darkness looks a little better every time we see it. Gamertag Radio got their hands on 21 new screens of the game, and they look sharp. The amount of detail and the use of lighting is very nice. Considering The Darkness is coming from the same people that brought us The Chronicles of Riddick, it's not exactly surprising that they're delivering a pretty game. More importantly, it looks like it will fun to play, too. Throw in some sweet multiplayer and we should have another great 360 title. The Darkness is expected to drop this quarter. Anyone got it on their wish list?

I'm reserved on it for the moment. It looks fantastic, but I think I'll need to play it, perhaps through a demo *nudge nudge*, or some other way, before I'm completely sold on it. Some of the gameplay features look very, very fun though.

Wicked - can't wait.
What is the WWII connection in the storyline?

If it plays anything like The Chronicles of Riddick, this will be a fantastic game. It seems to have a similar graphical feel to TCOR too, which is excellent, considering TCOR was one of the first games I've ever played which made me stop and stare at stupid little things for 15 minutes simply because they looked like solid, real objects, rather than generated images.
And that was on a standard-def television, on the original Xbox.

Intravenous: The WWII imagery is part of the nether-world storyline in the game, the place where your Darkness powers come from. You visit this other plane from time to time in the game, where the light/dark forces are locked in a contiual battle.
And anyone who played Riddick probably wants this game. A lot of the gameplay footage like pretty good so far (darklings killing your enemies, close-up execution moves, throwing around police cars with your darkness powers).
The only thing I hope for is a game that has staying power beyond a single play-through. Games like Prey and F.E.A.R. were great, but after finishing them I had no desire to every play the campaigns again. By contrast games like SC: Chaos Theory, Oddworld:Stranger' Wrath, or Gears of War stand up to multiple single player runs. With any luck The Darkness will be in this latter category.

Looks interesting. This quarter may be too soon for me to pick it up at launch though. Lost Planet is about three or four games ahead of me at the moment too actually.

At this point just mentioning that Starbreeze is involved would get me to buy a game. I was beyond impressed with Riddick; yes the game looked amazing,(normal mapping), but to me the biggest thing Starbreeze accomplished was making a licensed game that was good. And not just good, but great. Butcher Bay was a fantastic game, and it even comes close to doing the impossible; legitimizing Vin Deisel. I know most people wrote Riddick off because of Vin, but Starbreeze proved everybody wrong and delivered one of the best games for the xbox. Now all we need is some backwards compat so I can play Riddick on the 360.
The Darkness is a comic I first ran into around issue #3 and thought it was an instant classic. When I first heard that a game was in development I was both excited and and apprehensive. How many times has a liscensed game been utter crap? But with Starbreeze at the helm, my fears were laid to rest. The only thing stopping me from buying The Darkness on release day would be if everyone on the net slammed it. But so far it looks sweet.
