I don't blame Sony. I think they just looked stupid. It's not their fault....but I will still ridicule them for it because of what they did afterwards.

Sony assumes they got an Emmy for their sixaxis (**** my ***** Sony, your style guide is a joke) and they go flying off into some PR robot dance of autofellacio about how wonderful the sixaxis is. I just cracked up as I watched those words get shoved right back in Sony's mouth.

Funny how stupid PR-talk sounds when you have to retract it.

Still...the controller deserved an award 6 years ago. Not now, because it's hardly deserving today.

Nintendo's d-pad? Did they get it for making the d-pad a standard or something? Because Sony's d-pad eats Nintendo's d-pads for breakfast. Microsoft's d-pads didn't even show up to compete.

However, they still deserve an anti-emmy for those horrendously floppy analog sticks. *thinks of playing Killzone and Black in frustration*

I hope you guys(ps3fanboy.com) at least own some Sony stock or something. Just make sure you are being fairly compensated for all this PR stuff. It's not easy at all.

Sony f-ed up big time with that press release. The fact that this site doesn't comment on the debacle for more than a day (no doubt time wasted thinking up the poor spin in this post which you pass off as logic) is pathetic.

Why don't we get some real commentary on this site and ditch the corporate mouthpiece act.

Awww, poor little Sony...

Come on, the responsibility is solely upon them, they published the press release.

But, but...I like the Hate $ony Train! I wanna ride it somemore! LOL /Sarcasm I'm not dumb like some 360 owners who come here and post Sonyhate on a PS3 fansite. I admit I like to read it sometimes but hey, I need to make a friend w/a PS3 owner so I can see what RFOM is all about. No hate here.

I'm just surprised it took this site this long to spin this "mishap". I don't think anyone is saying Sony lied. I think just about everyone is in agreement that they jumped the gun. Nevertheless, to say "Sony's not to blame" is stupid. You didn't hear Nintendo come out boasting about the Emmy award-winning Wiimote. In fact, you didn't hear anything from Nintendo.

It's just another award that most consumers (and people in general) could care less about. Which makes this whole thing even worse. Sony tried to hype up the SIXAXIS controller by using some award no one cares about, and in the end, they were wrong.

Sony didn't lie, but they did jump the gun. The fact that anyone is trying to put the blame elsewhere is just lame. They weren't misled. They simply didn't use their heads. Sony, in all forms, has been to CES before. They know how things work. Sony did the misleading (accidental or not is irrelevant).

"When Sony was given the Emmy for "technological innovation for device controller", they were slightly befuddled since the SIXAXIS had yet to really show off its mad skills,"

I think this proves my point. If something is clearly NOT right...then it's not right.

I had a big ol' "pity me" rebuttal ready for those saying I should have updated this sooner, but it's been deleted to save face. Suffice to say, I had planned to, but I lead a busy life. Apologies for the lateness of the update.

No offense, but isn't that, in itself, a "pity me" rebuttal?

Next-Gen-Gamer, I do take offense. Just a little. And no, it's not. Trust me. =)

Hohoho! "360 fanboys get off our site and top hounding Sony!"

Hummm....this sounds a LOT like this time last year...you know, the pre-E3 Press Conference era? Before Sony bit the big one? Oh, I'm sure you remember. It was PS3 fanboys on 360 sites giving "M$" hell.

Sorry PS3 fanboys. We are just returning the favor. But there is one significant difference. We BOTH have hardware now, and we can BOTH see which next-gen console survived being run through the corporate strategy ringer...and which one has Blu-ray, S!X@X!S!

I just find it funny watching the SDF at work which seems to be a 24/7 job lately. Maybe Sony might start doing something to really earn the SDF blind brand loyalty.
