I agree with most of the comments here about the lack proper reporting, blaming someone else for your lack of parenting skills, etc. It's not anyone's responsibility to watch their kids and what they are doing/finding but the parents. That being said, anyone here who is so up in arms about "whats the big deal if a kid sees naked people" has a serious misunderstanding of what it can do to a child mentally. I know I don't want my kids to check out porn at 6, drink at 8, smoke at 9... there's a reason their are set ages as "dumb" as they seem. That being said, I won't promote sex as being dirty, evil or bad to my kids, but at the same time I won't let them run loose and "explore" by any means they want.

You make a good point boywundr.

Its not so much that seeing nudity or even the reproductive act is bad for children. I grew up on a farm and saw the animals copulating every summer.

Pornography is a fantasy. The people aren't real, they aren't having real experiences. They're actors. Not every man has a 12 inch boner, and not every woman has DD breasts. Exposing children, especially young and adolescent children to pornography is detrimental to their self esteem and their perceptions of sexual reality. It sets themselves up for big disappointment later on in life, both for what young men expect of their wives/girlfriends, and what they expect of themselves.

Young kids and adolescents aren't capable of distinguishing the fantasy of pornography from the reality of intimate encounters. This follows through probably up until they hit the age of 16 or 17. At least in this culture, anyway.

@49
"so unless the kids get online, go to Google, and type in "MONSTER COCK ACTION" using the on-screen keyboard, they're not going to get within cooee of porn."

My kid was merely looking for genetically altered chickens illegally fighting to gamble on; not porn.

#32: That was right on. I swear, I'll be dead before an end to human stupidity comes.

#45: That's going to turn heads, I'm sure. Still, you do have a point. That was THE gravest sin a journalist can commit. They based all their information on rumors and speculation rather than look into the facts for themselves.

Dear Wfaa,

I was recently viewing one of my favorite websites named Joystiq.com from there I was directed to your news program regarding the Wii and porn. Being a fact I'm in college to be a journalist, I found this article appalling, and I’m sickened to my core. I'm sick and tired of watching news programs like yours, give only YOUR side, you don’t have a basis for ANY of your claims, you show no SOLUTIONS, and all you do is provide scare tactics for parents who don't know any better. If you would have taken the 15 minutes to review the parental controls, and actually LEARN about the Wii, you could have in fact realized this news story was entirely false, and should have NEVER been aired. Us Gamers are in a WAR here, with media people like you. You claim, video games are the problem of the world, yet you do nothing to talk about how easy it is for kids to see violent movies, violent music. You seem to focus on the evils of these TOYS when in fact with simple TRUE journalism you could have completely learned truth, instead you provide 1 sided bias, and in fact you downright lie to the general public. I'm moving into journalism someday to provide gamers with a voice, something NONE of you truly want to do. You don’t want to report the news; you want to report what you want. What is the real motive here? To warn parents about the dangers of how "easy" it is for kids to download porn using a Wii? Again this couldn't be the case as you provide no solutions, but you leave the parents scared for their children. Reporting nothing but a problem, and nothing of the solution, or even in your case the truth, just reaffirms why no one in the Gamer/Techie community EVER respect your news agency again. We don't want you to retract your false news story, but in fact we DEMAND it. You’re doing nothing more than feeding a news media fire against video games. Please Research before you report, if anything good comes out of this news story, it’s the fact I refuse to ever report the news like you.

thats the letter i sent to them.
