Nintendo kicks turn your feet into retro gaming showcase

Run Athletics is releasing a pair of Nintendo sneakers that are quite a bit more attractive than the shoes that let you literally step into a NES. These kicks are pretty swanky, and even feature Nintendo characters on the sole, inside and out, giving 'em some real soul. The inner pattern on the outside of the shoe has a ton of invincibility stars, and check out that big Mario "M" on the shoe's tongue. Finally, you can pimp your feet out in some gaming gear that you won't be completely embarrassed to be seen in.

We just wouldn't recommend wearing them in church, or on a first date. Unless you're dating a gamer, then by all means.

I'm tired of having "retro" Nintendo stuff as the only clothing and merchandise available. Do any of these companies realize it's 2007 and there are 3 big boys in the console market,not just Nintendo.

Where is my Dead Rising and Splinter Cell merchandise?

A legitimate concern, but Dead Rising and Splinter Cell lack the iconic imagery of retro Nintendo graphics and icons. I guess the idea is that if you wear stuff like this, you're a fan, and you want others to know you are as well. More people are going to recognize Mario or a 1-Up Mushroom than Sam Fisher, after all.

By no means does this mean that there shouldn't be any, but retro Nintendo is hip with the kids (some of whom weren't even alive when the games came out or have never even played them, which makes me laugh for the same reason I laugh when I see sixteen year-old skater punks wear Led Zeppelin shirts) and there's money to be made from the kids.
