That's nice, but I don't think every episode has The Ringer in it... plus there were only 13 episodes. The videos are presumably split at the commercial break, but each episode aired in a single day.
Zoob @ Jan 14th 2007 4:48PM
Oooh, sweet. I've actually been looking for these.

I bought a dvd from Oddlots for 2 bucks that has the first 5 episodes on it. I have it featured in my Nintendo/Dvd player mod project at the end of the video. The dvd player used in the mod was also purchased at Oddlots.

Ah, the good ol' days...
I currently own Super Mario Bros. Super Show Vol.2 (not Vol.1... it was a Christmas gift, okay?) and the entire Megaman cartoon.
I remember watching these shows when they were new...
Collision891 @ Jan 14th 2007 5:51PM
Oh Boy! SMOOCHING TIME!!! -episode 2.1 (2:25 mark)
Absolute funniest thing i have seen all day.
Lesbian Ham @ Jan 14th 2007 6:00PM
I've got one of these episodes on VHS, and I've no idea where it came from (no one remembers, lol). I'm gonna get to watching all the others, Thanks Joystiq-Via-Plusmail !

Does anyone agree that they make Link seem like a complete dick?
Jontarou @ Jan 14th 2007 6:29PM
"Does anyone agree that they make Link seem like a complete dick?"
I certainly do. Boy has problems. I can't even imagine a Four Swords version of this show. ("Well, excuuuuse us, princess.")
Well, guess I just did.
Huricos @ Jan 14th 2007 6:28PM
You know, I couldn't remember if I watched these when I was little...
... but then Link said "Excuuuuuse me, princess".
Now it's all coming back to me.
NoHitHair @ Jan 14th 2007 6:56PM
I lived for Friday afternoons at 4pm because of this show.
Miniboss @ Jan 14th 2007 7:24PM
I have the DVD set. So awesome. Best episode is "The Missing Link" though.
The Sonic DVD set is coming soon (the 'good' Sonic cartoon). I love Shout Factory. They're bringing back my childhood. Now I can force it on my kids. :)
redjack @ Jan 14th 2007 7:05PM
Back when cartoons were watchable...
I miss a solid saturday morning cartoon lineup.
Crushed @ Jan 14th 2007 7:22PM
Wow, Link's a Quagmire-level pervert. He just totally looked at Zelda's boobs from above.
"You look good, especially from this angle"? Who the hell were they trying to fool?
playclever @ Jan 14th 2007 7:17PM
Hyperion - Captain N was genius! I got so into that series, I made my parents buy a red jacket like his... Now, that was a cartoon :)
NintendoFanbot @ Jan 14th 2007 7:58PM
I own Super Mario Bros. Super Show Vol. 1, and I was saddened that they removed the songs with lyrics. I have the VHS of a few episodes and they were higher quality than some of the DVD transfers. :(
I heard the UK release was un-edited and I wonder if they could fix them someday into the future.
And in these Zelda cartoons (which ruled, btw), he's got 2 things going for him: 1) he has a real personality and no one expects him to be 'legendary' and 2) he's the least metrosexual of all the Links. :P
Trevor @ Jan 14th 2007 9:27PM
Bleugh, i just puked a little.
Why did they have to make link so slimy, he's a total dick in those cartoons. I was too young to have seen these when they first aired however so i can understand liking them for their nostalgia.
The Sonic cartoon was awesome though.
1up_clock @ Jan 14th 2007 8:59PM
Well excUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUse ME, Princess.
Lord, Link was such a pervert in this cartoon (see episode 1 about his view of Zelda's bosom).
Strike Man @ Jan 14th 2007 9:07PM
Posting links to thirteen full episodes of the show? I'm sure DiC would really approve of this blog post, since we all know that copyright infringment and YouTube are like oil and water.
What's next, links to entire seasons of shows like The Office?
Oh wait...
Eliot @ Jan 14th 2007 9:34PM
Don't forget the obligatory poorly written Wikipedia entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Legend_of_Zelda_%28animated_series%29
religiousjedi @ Jan 14th 2007 9:39PM
The horror...the horror!!!!!!!!!!!
...ahem, anyways, I never really got a chance to see it. I remember seeing a glimpse of it when I was young, in the Super Mario show, but that is it.
...I cringe every time I hear Link talk...
mr.bob @ Jan 14th 2007 9:39PM
I watch a couple of these and i think that "Smoching time" is just said becuse back then in cartoons, sex was not alowed to be said...
link's such a horn dog in these.... Not funny at all
gphoenix51 @ Jan 15th 2007 12:52AM
I actually remember watching all the Nintendo cartoons back in the 80's; Captain N, the Multiple Super Mario Series's, and of course Legend of Zelda. Loved all of them, the 80's was the best time for cartoons.
Chris @ Jan 14th 2007 10:16PM
Wow, no wonder Link never speaks in the games. And Link is a perv. Disney would have a lot of fun with a character like Link...
Purple_Haze @ Jan 14th 2007 10:22PM
Wait can somebody just tell me, Nintendo had nothing to do with this right?
jenksalot @ Jan 14th 2007 11:01PM
Is Link's voice the guy who played DJ's boyfriend on Full House? If so that's awesome!
Sensai @ Jan 14th 2007 11:15PM
Just a BTW, the link to episode 7.1 links to episode 1.1.
Yes, I'm watching them all. What? Well, excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me, princess.
Sensai @ Jan 14th 2007 11:19PM
Ack!
Didn't even give you the actual link to the real episode. Here it is, for anyone who wants it:

Ahh, to be young again.
I, too, remember coming home from school on Fridays to watch the Zelda cartoon. Man, I tells ya- kids these days might like Zelda and Mario, but they'll never know what it's like having grown up with those characters.
Arc @ Jan 15th 2007 12:23AM
this show was painful to watch...but i did it becuase it was zelda is god. my brother when ever im complaining about something will say "well excuuuuuse me princess" becuase he knows how much pain watching that show gave me
Dig @ Jan 15th 2007 12:25AM
This TV show and voice actors perfectly explains why Link is the silent protagonist in all of the games.
Kimosabae @ Jan 15th 2007 1:24AM
Wow. I expected a 1980's trainwreck to be mitigated by nostalgia, but that was surpisingly watchable.
Brings back lotsa fond memories. I remember liking the cartoons' rendition of a sarcastic Link. Zelda's a overrated cocktease. Sprite's an underrated cockblock.
Show's still trash though. Really puts the notion of how bad todays' cartoons are in perspective.

HeisttheWorld @ Jan 16th 2007 2:15AM
Haha, Best Buy carries the full DVD set, I got it for like $10.
They have both seasons of the Super Mario bros Super Show occasionally, and the original TMNT seasons.
KaneRobot @ Jan 15th 2007 8:29AM
#6: "Whoa! Toasty!"
I might be the only one that "got" that, but it made me laugh my ass off.
Steve @ Jan 15th 2007 1:16PM
I was 15 when this first aired. I was still at that teenager point in life where you don't care what others think about you but do everything in your damn power to hide anything "uncool" you may have enjoyed from your friends. Loving this gem was one of them.
I never missed an episode, and even managed to copy many to VHS for, you know, my 3 year old niece! I really loved it, but Link's constant "Excuuuuuse me Princess" got annoying at times. Once an episode would have been OK, but it got old every other line in scenes with Zelda.
It always bugged me that the show wasted too many of those precious 22 minutes on the live action sequence.
I bought the DVD boxset a few months ago and watched it. I hate to admit it now, but the cartoon didn't seem to age very well. The stories really were lame! But I still love it!
crono141 @ Jan 15th 2007 9:46AM
Yep, just goes to show that the only reason Link saved the princess was because he wanted to get into her pants.
Good old classic Link.

Killer Instinct @ Jan 15th 2007 6:35PM
wierd I dont remember that cartoon, all I remember is captain N and how captain N had only like 5 epidsodes they showed over and over for like 3 yrs :p
crono141 @ Jan 15th 2007 1:46PM
Yeah Steve, I know exactly what your saying. I alwasy thought Capt N was cool growing up. Then I went to youtube to watch the 1 episode they had, and boy was it bad.
Like, REALLY bad.
Zelda cartoon didn't age to well either. Even thundercats aged better than these 2.
mitsanaga @ May 9th 2007 11:22AM
um... i dont think Link is perverted. i think Bob Forward the guy who wrote the script is perverted. he's probably one of those guys who had a hard-on for Zelda and other cartoon babes.
Zertoss @ Jan 15th 2007 10:06PM
It wasn't long ago that I was quoting Link to obnoxious people (most recently a security guard at my college who told me not to use a door he had just locked, even though I had already opened it, to which I replied "Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me princess!" Naturally, he didn't get it.)
I remember this series so well, except for the music. I don't remember it being so awesome. I do remember watching it, though. Wasn't it part of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show? *checks the Wiki link* It was! The two went together like a delicious breakfast cereal.
Brackynews @ Jan 16th 2007 11:25AM
"Awhhh, how sickeningly sweet." Makes you thankful that Link isn't voiced in the games!
What's interesting in retrospect is that so much of the toon's action has been rendered into actual gameplay since it went 3D. Right down to the oddly oversized enemies.
But this Zelda is still teh hawt, wipes all manner of floor with Princess Lana!
