@Evan
"Sony is using identical tactics to sell the PS3. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I'm old enough to remember being caught up in the hype surrounding the Emotion Engine, so I know the cell processor is also BS. However, many Sony fanboys are not old enough to have been fanboys during the PS2 launch, and are falling for Sony's hype just like I did 6 years ago."

Very true, you pretty much summed it all up. We may see that, and I'm sure allot of the posters here do too, and I think the next few years will be very diferent this time around. It takes more than just selling to fanboys to win the "next-gen", and by what sony has been saying in press confrences, it really seems that they only care about selling to fanboys! Isnt that crazy! Like, the whole people will work extra hours and that kinda crap. Both Microsoft and Nintendo advertize that they want to each out to various demographics. yet all I see from sony is viral marketing, like "buy me, I'm a playstaion". Oh and gee I hope my spelling is ok. Eric, my sophisticated friend, can you run spell check please?

It's GRAMMAR, and not "did'nt", DIDN'T is a conjuction of did not. Not presenting a point articulately and grammatically correct detracts from your argument. People don't see your views, just that it looks like it was typed by a grade school kid (no offense).

By the way it's GIN if you mean the drink.

Fascinating! What other negative Sony news and positive Microsoft/Nintendo news is out there? Surely someone somewhere is speculating that Sony will be out of business within a year, where's the scoop?

Fair and balanced, yessiree.

If Joystiq censored negative Sony news, wouldn't that make them biased Sony goons?

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Yea, like that puppy

I love Sony products, but I had to change to other alternatives because of Sony's insistence of NOT LISTENING to its costumers. EG. ATRAC, UMD, SonicStage. My Sony mp3 player at the time and still is a great piece of machinery, but so tedious to upload mp3s unlike Apple's Ipod. Then UMD, I have a PSP not because of the UMD, it's only thanks to Dark Alex's 3.03 OE-B and freeing the PSP for us. Besides that, I love my DS too.
The PS3 is failing to make its mark and it's due to Sony in part, but mostly because not everyone has a HDTV and $600 to spare. A dad who is middle class, is he going to spend $600 on a system and $500+ on a HDTV for his kid? There is the problem. I have the money to buy a PS3, and I already have a HDTV, but until Metal Gear Solid 4 comes out, I prefer my Gamecube Zelda Collection in HD for the time being.. besides..ALL systems come faulty at launch..right XBOX 360? Until a Matrix Infinity or something of the sort comes out for the PS3..count me out...

Poor puppy...

There does seem to be a distinct imbalance between negative Sony news and negative Nintendo/Xbox news. It could be that every game journalist there is is biased against the PS3. It could also be that the PS3 is... well... bad.

I know, I know, "M$ fanboi, hax!!!!11!!1" I get it. But hear me out. I understand that hardware doesn't mean so much. Software is what moves the systems for most people. That doesn't change the fact that there does seem to be a large disparity between hardwares.

Behold, Blu-Ray! 50 gigs of space! Nevermind the slow data transfer rate! Cell Processor! The most powerful processor in the world!... Underclocked to 3.2 ghz to keep it from melting! Oh, and to make sure the whole thing looks pretty, we'll keep the power supply inside the case. Of course, this makes things pretty hot, so we'll include a 200mm fan to try and keep it cool; nevermind the noise! Sure, it's hell to develop for, but who cares?! We're Sony!

Now, the competitor... let's see... A variable memory graphics card with up to 512 mb of memory... plus 10 megs of edram. Um... a tri-core processor running at 3.2 GHz, packed with general purpose computing power. Uses standard optical media format with high data transfer rate. Easy to develop for. Damn it, I just can't find an overly negative piece of hardware on this damn thing. Curses...

Well, maybe the software will be better news. Sony's got some big guns coming out, here; MGS 4, DMC 4, FFXIII, FF vs. XIII, Lair, Heavenly Sword. Those are sure to destroy anything Microsoft has coming out. Let's take a look: Mass Effect, Bioshock, Halo 3, Halo Wars, C&C 3, Lost Odyssey, Blue- you know what, that's enough of that. Huh, it's odd. There seem to be a lot more numbers in Sony's list.

Umm, positive, positive... The black case is nice. I wish my Xbox 360 was black. That would be cool. Motion sensing would be a neat trick, but I'd miss my rumble. The free online play is a good thing, I just wish I could have the sophistication of Xbox Live with it.

Wow, this kind of dragged on, didn't it? Well, let's just hope the good news picks up for Sony, eh?

"20. The perception will be that the PS3 (at a 360 pricepoint) is an absolute steal... and would fly off the shelves. People without any previous desire for a PS3 will line up and camp out for a PS3 at 360 prices."

That's an interesting theory, but it would also mean that instead of Sony losing $200 per console slowly, they'd be losing $400 per console quickly. That's much too big a hole for the company to dig itself out of profitwise.

"24. "Sony may lose $200 on each PS3 sale. But they lose $700/$800 for each PS3 that sits on the shelf unsold."

No they don't. The retailer has paid Sony for the system to get in on the shelves."

When a product sits on the shelf, the retailer will not get more shipped in until those units are sold. Thus the effect is the same.

Yes, indeed, it's the PS3 that has the problem with noise and heat.

Uh huh.

@58.

Having had quite a bit of hands-on time with a PS3, and standing next to it as it whirs and creates a slightly-pleasant blanket of sound over the store, yes, yes it is a bit noisy, and trust me, that baby gets hot.

And yes, the 360 also has it's share of noise, but as far as the heat problem, the heats stays in the brick, and if you're smart, the brick isn't right next to the machine, so there should be a huge heating problem if you know what you're doing.

Prediction: March will be the month that PS3 sales explode. It will be the month that a ton of new games come out that will sell the system. Sony may or may not miss 6 million by March, but they'll make it up quickly.

"I dont really follow why its so necessary that EVERY time there's a negative Sony post its popped on Joystiq"

I don't see why it's necessary for every Sony fanboy to whine about how biased Joystiq is after every Sony news post. JS.com posts about GAMING NEWS. If you want pro-sony news, tell your boys sony to start doing something positive for once.

Sites like these can't help it a company is so boneheaded that it creates wave after wave of negative press. MS is just sitting back watching it happen.

Nah! Just kidding!
They are only getting what they asked for.
