Sony is NOT that dumb to kill one of the games people really want. I own a PS3 and I will be bad that I only have one game to play on the PS3. If this is true Sony had better bring out one really great game. Plus maybe the version that will be on the PS store is not the PS3 version but the PS1 version so you can download it to your PSP. I think that would be cool.

Warhawk seemed a little bit confusion with the aerail combat AND the fighting on the ground. It kind of reminds me of a an interview about twisted metal black. They originallt wanted you to be able to get out of the car as well, but they scrapped the idea. When i saw the ground battles in warhawk, i immediately remembered the tm interview. They should just go with aerial combat.

Console of the Year for sure, look at all the potential.

Tomorrow's news MGS4 delayed until 2010, Gran Turismo 5 delayed until 2020 to be simultaneously released with Gran Turismo Mobile.

The only PS3 game I have is R:FoM. I have downloaded the Motorstorm, Gran Turismo HD, and F1 demos and still have not used the tilt functions of the 'SUXASSES' controller. If Sony was really so insistent on putting this in over rumble, where the h3ll are the games that use the tilt function??!! Does anyone know if there are any games available for the PS3 that use this?

I'm really not liking this trend of releasing major games as downloads.

Think about it. I've still got games I play for my Atari 2600. What happens if in 20 years I decide I feel like playing Warhawk or Tekken 5 on my PS3? And what if I can't, because I've long since erased it to make room for something else? There will be literally no way to get these download-only games anymore - they will be lost to the ether.

At least PC games can be saved or burned somewhere, or hosted on a third-party site; you can always find them. But what's going to happen to console games that are download-only once the manufacturer stops supporting that console? (or even before that, assuming their online stores may stop carrying older titles for even current consoles.)

I know the manufacturers all want to switch to download distribution. But I can't see how it's good for consumers. It basically means any manufacturer can revoke the very existence of any downloadable game at any time.

So what major exclusive titles does Sony have left if this is canned?

Motorstorm, Lair, FFXIII, MGS4 ... and when are these coming out? Will the Sony drought be worse than the Nintendo one?

Rob Holiday, pretty much all PS3 games utilize Tilt. Turn it on in the options (you'd figure a menu like this would practically INVITE exploring). Whether or not they use it accurately is a whole other story. Gripshift uses it well until you get to the harder stages (where not even Analog helps). Blazing Angels uses it well enough too and while they completely reworked the horrid voice acting from the 360 version, it's still a subpar game. Ridge Racer 7 is fun with the tilt. And you've played Resistance and you've never had to shake fire off of you during online matches?!?

Rob

Motorstorm and RFOM use the motion controls.

Gripshift and Madden (there are more, but I don't own them) are two others that utilize the controls as well...read the instruction manuals or back cover of the games.

Like any other rumor, I'll wait for official news from Sony before we talk about a FIRST party game being cancelled. Let's use some common sense guys, they would simply delay the game until it was finished.

alexanderwales, allow me to answer your question with a release list... stars by the exclusives.

1-30 Sonic The Hedgehog
2-13 College Hoops 2K7
2-20 Virtua Fighter 5
* 2-27 F1 Championship
* 2-27 MotorStorm
3-5 Major League Baseball 2K7
3-6 Def Jam Icon
3-6 Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
3-6 NBA Street Homecourt
* 3-6 Heavenly Sword
3-13 FEAR
3-13 Splinter Cell: Double Agent
3-20 Armored Core 4
3-20 Rainbow Six: Vegas
* 3-20 The Godfather The Don's Edition
3-20 Virtua Tennis 3

That's just the short term. In the pipe are Lair, Ratchet & Clank 5, Untitled Naughty Dog Project, Killzone 3 (heavy rumors about finally surfacing at GDC), Eight Days, Getaway 3, Haze, Warhawk (this is still just a rumor after all), new game from Sucker Punch... and that's just a few.

And besides, why discredit multiconsole games? Exclusives seem to only matter to the hardcore and the first year is for the hardcore anyway. Sony was a damn good developer on PS2 and I don't see why that magic would evaporate suddenly.

By the way....

I believe Heavenly Sword got pushed way back...I know it's not coming in March. Holiday season possibly.

Anyways, I'm not really hating on the PS3....it has a lot of potential, and it could be a great system down the road....but right now, and in the near future (next 6 months), I see nothing going for Sony, while the 360 will be producing titles like Crackdown, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Forza 2, etc....and that's not even mentioning the holiday titles like Halo 3, Fable 2, etc.

Sheppy, I think you're missing the point.

Yes, PS3 does have a fine lineup, especially when compared to Nintendo's 2006 lineup, which has a similarly small number of big exclusive titles. The question is this:

Why pay an extra $200 for a system with a game lineup that is strikingly similar to the lineup of its cheaper brethren? I'm not trying to be mean, I just don't see the point.

@17

Exclusives make a big deal to people like myself that only want to purchase 1 system and want the system with the best overall game options to choose from. Here is a list of 360 games that either will never hit PS3 or hit the 360 months earlier than the PS3 version.

Unfortunately, I don't know exactly how to sort it by short term the way that you sorted your PS3 list. I challenge anyone to make a PS3 exclusives list to compare to the 360 one. I would be curious so I can decide which one to get:)

Halo3
Gears of War
PGR3
Blue Dragon
Mass Effect
Lost Planet
Too Human
Forza 2
Crackdown
Dead Rising
Oblivion (currently)
Bioshock
Rainbow 6 Vegas (currently)
GRAW
Burnout Revenge
GRAW 2
Alan Wake
Army of Two
Bullet Witch
COD2
Command and Conquer (the new one)
Condemned
Crysis
Fable 2
FEAR (weak, I know, but it is fun if you never played PC version)
Half Life/Portal combo pack thingy (see FEAR disclaimer)
Halo Wars
Huxely (my sleeper pick)
Mistwalker
Viva Pinata
Kameo
Lost Odyssey

NINJA GAIDEN 2, going to be awesome

PGR4 is announced. exclusive so far.
Saint's Row
Shadowrun (if they don't screw it up)
John Woo's Stranglehold
Tekken 6 WILL be on 360, imo. rumor right now
Splinter Cell DA (the next new one may be exclusive also)
Marvel Ultimate Alliance (i think, not sure though)

I appoligize if I made a couple of mistakes with my list. Feel free to comment, I know it isn't perfect.

All in all, it is a very exciting time to own a 360. There are going to be a lot of great games in the next couple of years.

Yeah sheppy, Heavenly Sword has been pushed way back - there's been an information blackout since E3, and no progress shown - if they were going to release it then we would have seen screens or movies or something like that.

And BTW, the Godfather isn't really an exclusive - that edition is, but the game isn't.

Exclusives are important because that's what people look at when deciding on what system they're going to get. That, and price. The 360 beats Sony on both counts.

Sony NEEDS hit exclusives, because their price is driving people away.

Motorstorm alone isn't going to save the system.

This WAS the game I bought my PS3 for.....loving the original....

If this gets cancelled.....HUGE blow IMO to SONY.....it would be such an embarassment for such a showcase game to be canned outright.

Will I ever actually BUY another game for my PS3 (besides the Dark Resurrection Download)?? Not really seeing one really worthy until XMAS 2007.....at least one that is exclusive to PS3.

Glad I got my Wii60........WarioWare and Lost Planet picked up today!!!

And "untitled project from company x" doesn't count either. I'll say I have a studio called "eatcrap studios", and we have a game called "untitled project from eatcrap studios" exclusive for atari 2600.

The bad news for Sony keeps piling up... And there would appear to be some truth to the speculation; I've been hearing for weeks that the studio (in Salt Lake City) is in big trouble, future unknown... If you remember Incognito was an indepent developer founded by the guys who originally brought you Twisted Metal while working at SingleTrac. Those guys went and started Lucky Dog. It didn't take 'em long to land a deal with Sony & Twisted Metal black; Sony moved quickly and bought the studio, which was renamed to Incognito... Now typically such a deal requires those who benefit from the "buy out" to stay on board for 5 years to get their millions. I guess those 5 years are up and from what I've been hearing the top people are leaving--probably to start up yet another studio--which is obviously why they've had to bring up a new director and the project is coming apart.

gg PieceShitStation3. The salesman at BestBuy told me it sucks, when I asked him about why they have 3 of them looking so lonely on the shelf. The Nintendo Wii is constantly sold out, and to my understanding, the Wii is a much less complicated design easy to manufacture in large quantities and its sold out everywhere. Me--I'm not a Nintendo fan boi by any means; I skipped the N64 and GameCube, but I feel like the Wii is going to be a sleeper hit.

Sony! The writing is on the wall! Your attitude stinks and your business principles are flawed. _Consumers_ will decide the market, not you. You should thank us for so many great years of support and prosperity, but instead you reward us by trying to shove overpriced shit-stations down our throats...

>Sony needs to stop copying Nintendo
>The Xbox 360 has greater power than the PS3

>The points above prove that conventional wisdom is always right.

Reality: Warhawk sucked, the ground levers were uber-lame and the flying actually wasn't that hot.

I don't know... It never really seemed like that big of a title to me. It's almost like it served as a "Look at me, I can sense motion too!" kind of game way back at E3. Admittedly, I haven't looked into it much since then, but I never really understood why some people got so excited about it.

I'll tell you this guys - Sony isn't struggeling anymore, they are fighting a loseing battle. I'm not thinking of this rumor in particular, but all the shit going on.

Just sit down and think about it. IF, as people say:

* Heavenly Sword is pushed back.
* Warhawk canned, to become PS3 download
* PS3 stacking up in shelves
* Microsoft waiting to counter a pricedrop
* Porn choose HD-DVD
* No rumble in raceing games
* No hardware HD-Scaler and problems with 1080i TVs
* SixAxiS not a good controller
* GPU and Memory handeling, better on 360
* Devs have a hard time utilizeing the PS3's "potential"
* Development cost.
* No good online
* Bad PR and arrogance
* Blu-ray's slow reading speed
* still a $200 loss pr. system sold.

This doesn't look good. I'd be VERY surprised if they get out of this mess. Good luck Sony, I wouldn't buy your stock just now.

Unless I am missing something, the actual story from Rumor Reporter makes no mention of WarHawk at all. It says that the title and the studio will be named later. So I don't know where the author assumes that the title under question is WarHawk and not some other title. Rumor Reporter goes on to say that online multi-player is iffy and there were several reports from TGS about WarHawk's online multiplayer running fine.

@38s list

I always love that FLOW is brought up as a killer exclusive PS3 Downloadable game........granted that you can play it free on the web. Is it something I would pay money to play??? Probably not.

As for the list:

-Coded Arms Assault (likely cancelled...especially as the PSP Version = SUCKED)
- Mercenaries 2: World in Flames (this is not a PS3 Exclusive....we all know this)
-Motor Storm (if they don't fix the sad mess that the Japanese version is....STAY AWAY....FAR AWAY)

To be honest....I don't see anything that blows me away thats coming out this year.....(especially as I don't really expect MGS4 or FFXIII to actually make it out in 2007)

Okay, first things first, I wasn't trying to make it seem like PS3 is the only way to go. I was primarily just reacting to Alexanderwales claims that PS3 is barren of exclusives and games in the short term. Which is simply not fact.

BTW, Heavenly Swords release date was recently confirmed on the Sony site as March 6th. An upcoming magazine just had a huge expose on it and scans can be found online.

Now, having said that, Jake. Here's the problem with your list that I've found.

Too Human-10+ Years in dev, I don't expect this one anytime soon.
Oblivion-PS3 and PC
Bioshock-PC
Rainbow Six: Vegas-PS3
Burnout Revenge-PS2 and Xbox
GRAW2-PS3
Alan Wake-PC
Army Of Two-PS3
COD2-PC
C&C3-PC
Condemned-PC
Crysis-PC (non-nerfed)
FEAR-PC and PS3
Half-Life 2: Orange-PS3
Huxley-PC
Mistwalker-Not a game, a development studio.
Saint's Row-EB accident let the port slip, check rumor mills but still unconfirmed
Shadowrun-PC
Strangehold-PS3
Tekken 6-PS3, nothing to substantiate rumor aside from wishful thinking
Splinter Cell DA-PS3
Ultimate Alliance-DA, PSP, PS2, GCN, Xbox, PC, and PS3

Now, having said that, I'll take your challenge.

Genji (hey, you listed lacklusters, so can I)
Resistance

Afrika...Sony practically never showed much of Afrika except of the trailer footage. We don't even know what that game is about. Many people need to understand that these games will be shown off later in Spring to tout next fall's line-up. There is also an Untitled Naughty Dog game and Untitled Sucker Punch game. BTW, these are all rumors.

I'm not saying that Sony doesn't have some great exclusives ... down the pipe. But they don't have much going for them NOW. Sure, the PS3 will have my Final Fantasies and Metal Gear Solids, but right now there's no reason for me to plunk down $600 on a system that has Resistance and nothing else - even when Motorstorm hits (assuming they add multiplayer and don't fuck it up) that still won't be enough to convince people to buy the system.

Blu-ray has not won the format war. Wait.
The price is too high. Wait.
The games aren't there. Wait.

This is the message that Sony is giving off; Wait. And for every person that waits, that's another console that sits on the shelf, and another bit of consumer confidence lost. The 360 isn't telling anyone to wait. Neither is the Wii. They both say, "Play me now! I have great games and a low price! Impulse buy! Impulse buy!" And for every 360 and Wii sold, for every game that someone buys for those systems, that's an investment in something that isn't a PS3.

Sheppy. Half of your "corrections" were things that I prefaced my list with. I am counting games like Oblivion, Rainbow 6, and FEAR that may someday come to PS3 long after 360 owners have played them for months. I am counting games that you can get on PC or PS2 or DS version or whatever but you cannot get on a PS3. One of the 360's advantages is its similarity to PC programing, allowing for more PC combos than it would normally get, it is called console exclusive.

Some of your corrections are valid and point out my mistakes, but many are not considering my reasoning for the list. I came right out and said I am counting console exclusives like Bioshock and you go and point it out like it was a mistake, all the while listing any PS3/PC exclusive you could in your list. That is lame of you to do. Keep it real.

Also, I didn't name every single 360 game ever mentioned in rumor, confirmed, or on XBLA or a tech demo or whatever else. I named games that have some hype, solid devs, and some AAA potential. You just listed every possible PS3 game. Your list is not the same as mine. Nobody cares about Gretsky Hockey, Genji, or the Eye of Judgement. Give me a break. Fix your list or you fail. I mean, you used Ridge racer and I didn't, cheater. lol. Trust me, I left out a lot of games I hadn't heard of when I picked through a huge list to come up with mine. Please slim your list down to match mine and we can compare actual good next-gen games in the pipelines.

Here is an updated list from me taking into account the corrections that you made that were actually valid like Army of Two and Marvel. If you want to take my challenge, then take my challenge. But don't throw a list of every possible PS3 game, including unnamed ones, up against my list which shows only the cream of the crop (subjective). I mean, I left out Conan and you throw in Singstar and Warhawk (in a post on how Warhawk is possibly scrappage). Weak. Take the worst game on my list and use that as your bottom line.

Here is the list 360 games that fall into one of two catergories:
1) Will never be released on PS3
2) Will/may eventually be released on PS3, but are currently playable on 360 and not PS3.

Halo3
Gears of War
PGR3
Blue Dragon
Mass Effect
Lost Planet
Too Human (don't say it won't happen, it will damnit)
Forza 2
Crackdown
Dead Rising
Oblivion (currently)
Bioshock
Rainbow 6 Vegas (currently)
GRAW
Burnout Revenge
GRAW 2
Alan Wake
Bullet Witch
COD2
Command and Conquer (the new one)
Condemned
Crysis
Fable 2
Halo Wars
Huxely (my sleeper pick)
Viva Pinata
Kameo
Lost Odyssey
NINJA GAIDEN 2, going to be awesome
PGR4 is announced. exclusive so far.
Saint's Row (might eventually hit PS3, available now on 360)
Shadowrun (if they don't screw it up)
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Amped 3

I know it is unfair for me to put in Rainbow 6, Oblivion, or FEAR but I am already finished with the latter two and have logged 50 hours or better into R6 (awesome game btw) and will be moving on by the time they hit PS3. Timed exclusivity means something to me, I guess.
