EA denies Crysis game on Xbox 360
EA has shot down recent claims that a version of Crysis is headed to Xbox 360. The publisher described 1UP's discussion of the game (via podcast) as a "miscommunication." The gaming site claimed to have spoken with Crytek developers who confirmed an Xbox 360 title was in the works. Miscommunication? Color us suspicious.EA might not be ready to make an announcement, but the hype surrounding this to-be franchise demands that Crysis games appear on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Wait for it.

EA turn down money, not likely, expect a DS port....
fester @ Jan 17th 2007 6:30AM
It won't appear on the ps3 cos it can't handle it (even the cut down console version that will appear on the 360 eventually).
You can bank on that.
Wii @ Jan 17th 2007 6:57AM
"It won't appear on the ps3 cos it can't handle it " - another of the urban rumours that 360 fans are so desperate to spread out. Can you think of ONE game out on either console but not on the other becuase of system specs? And you are welcome to it anyway - the umpteenth shooter, buy a PS3 and you wil soon get something different for a change - Heavenly sword, lair, Motorstorm, MGS, FF
ScreamingSkull @ Jan 17th 2007 7:15AM
Does the 360 really need another FPS franchise?

More Powerful GPU
Myth or not, I really enjoy winding you PS3 idiots up who were doing exactly the same to EVERYONE else (not just other system fanboys) for months before sony actually released their shytstem only to dissapoint anyone with half a brain and a low threshold for hype.
Autocrawler @ Jan 17th 2007 7:42AM
...Who cares about the X360 port? Go, upgrade your gaming rig and play the real stuff instead. If GoW is not coming to PC, I only find it fair that Crysis isn't going to the X360.
hohoho @ Jan 17th 2007 7:45AM
may i suggest that all these lovely fanboys from either sides to get some new clothes, go out and date some girls.
now, let's summarise,
best controller? wii.
best gpu? x360.
best cpu? ps3.
fester @ Jan 17th 2007 7:44AM
@6. I own a DS (x2) and a gamecube as well as my 360 so I think I've got all those types of games covered for now.
Nothing wrong with a wii60 combo platter though, I hope to pick up a wii towards the end of the year when I've had chance to assess the software lineup.
No way in hell am I going near a pS3 though, even with games I've always like such as GT and possibly future Wipeout I'm not being taken for a ride by Sony, I have much better stuff to spend $1000 on (UK price).
fester @ Jan 17th 2007 8:46AM
best controller? wii.
Wrong. it's different, it's not "best" as it is flawed for many normal uses.
best gpu? x360.
Yup.
best cpu? ps3.
Wrong. It may be the most powerful technically but it's not as flexible as the tricore 360 cpu (ask any developer which is easier to harness/utilise).
Then there's the games of course. Nintendo and MS have Sony beat on that score right now also (esp MS at the moment).
bob @ Jan 17th 2007 8:51AM
I dont think Crysis will come to Xbox 360 if it comes it will be like a far cry for Xbox but will not be like the original version of PC...Crysis it is a exclusive game for PC so you better uprade your PC rig to play this monster game of all times.
a t @ Jan 17th 2007 9:05AM
you people dont seem to understand i had 2 360 thought i loved it till i got ps3, ps3 has a stronger cpu and gpu read up on it with dedicated ram for the gpu and its faster gpu ring of death box doesnt come close half the transistors
Durg @ Jan 17th 2007 9:29AM

Just look at the comparisons of the PS3 vs 360 games. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the huge differences.

EA not going multiplatform? Holy crap, I'm shocked and appalled.
It does not matter if a system is not able to run a game. Hell, I'm sure the DS and PSP was never able to handle Need for Speed Carbon (At least at the graphical level of the PS3 and 360 levels) and it still made it to those platforms.
LOL geeshuz I thought the debate between the power of the 360 and the PS3 is over now? PS3 did not deliver anything close to the "tech" trailers (Killzone E3 2005, MotorStorm) they showed - not surprised. Or even delivering their claims (All games running at 1080p, 120fps, Blu-ray is the difference, etc etc).
I find it hilarious that the 360 and the PS3 are struggling keeping a steady framerate at 30fps at 720p (1280x720) resolution. Meanwhile a Geforce 7800GT is so much more powerful (1280x1024 running at 50-60fps with 4xAA, 8xAF). Yeah Yeah, PC rigs are more expensive, etc, etc...
The 360 GPU architecture has unified shaders, which is the future of graphics card (An advantage over the PS3 GPU, which is last year technology already). I won't make any claim that one is better than the other, but for sure, the hardware found in both system are already last year's technology. So much for future proofing. If you STILL believe Sony, well, I guess you already bought the PS3 anyway.
Bottom line, the PS3 and 360 are not capable of handling Crysis at its full glory. Will EA release a "down-graded" graphics version? NO DOUBT ABOUT IT.

"Buy a Wii and you will soon get something different for a change - Trauma Center, Metroid, Super Mario Galaxy, Zelda"
Let's see... sequel, sequel, sequel, sequel. Yay for different.
Maybe if I wish really hard I'll get a Mario Party.
sploy @ Jan 17th 2007 12:48PM
lol, if RAM was so important on a GPU, then why is a 7900 GS 256MB so much better than a 6600 512MB?
Tanie linie lotnicze @ Jan 17th 2007 4:15PM
Always RAM is very important
bob @ Jan 17th 2007 10:18AM
Hmmmmm Crysis i think Wii is the only console capable to handle this game..do you think..?
not even in dreams....
CannedHeat @ Jan 17th 2007 2:26PM
@ 10 I love how you said Ms and Nintendo have Sony beat, as if they're in an alliance of some sort. Each of these companies is in direct competition with one another, that is a fact.
Vidikron @ Jan 17th 2007 11:27AM
Who cares? FarCry was highly overrated. Pretty jungle scenery and average FPS gameplay. Until proven otherwise I really don't expect this game to be any different. And for people saying it couldn't be ported to other systems... BS. Even on the PC it will have various graphic adjustment sliders/checkboxes to make it playable on lower end systems.
Clontz @ Jan 17th 2007 11:29AM
OH, and btw, I was serious. I really can't wait for the next Mario Party game.
Steve (the real one) @ Jan 17th 2007 11:59AM
Wii,
gears of war. Epic said it needs all 512MB of unified ram goodness. The ps3 could not run it in its current form.
sploy,
why make comparisons like that when you can have double the usable graphics memory and a better gpu?... the xbox 360.
machrc @ Jan 17th 2007 1:03PM
It inevitable the Pc gaming rig will comeback booming when vista rolls out with direct X 10 and Nvidia/ATi roll out their direct x 10 geared ultra hyper overclocked monster slab Quad SLIx4 PCI-xpress 128 cards..
Crysis is gonna be the game that brings PC back on it's throne.
Just like the trickled down PC ports on xbox like battlefield and the original farcry, its going to look less impressive on the "inferior" systems but try to achieve the same feel as the original game (plot/location?).
I think at this point of graphic developement(when crysis hits), we will clearly be able to settle the ps3 v. 360 in the better "graffix" department.
I got my money on Direct x 10, instead of a ps3 im saving up for a much bigger monster called directx 10 card.
Autocrawler @ Jan 17th 2007 12:34PM
"FarCry was highly overrated. Pretty jungle scenery and average FPS gameplay."
Name me an another FPS with non-linear gameplay please. Oh, wait, you can't.
fester @ Jan 17th 2007 12:45PM
I agree with Autocrawler, Far Cry had brilliant gameplay if you understood it.
And of course the 360 and especially the ps3 are using outdated graphics chips already, the PC will always be "cutting edge" (so long as you pay for it) but you fail to realise that it' doesn't always need like for like hardware to create stunning stuff on consoles. Factor in the fact that a lot of the best games on consoles never even get released on PC and you can see why a $350 Xbox 360 is a tempting purchase.
It's not just about the tech, it's about who is and how many are making games for that tech, it's about controllers, achievements, gamertags, sitting comfy on a sofa in front of a 32" + HDTV.
And i'm a PC gamer first and foremost (and will be updating in time for crysis) but even I can see room for both PC and Consoles (and handhelds) so stop being blinkered.
The only universal truth is that the PS3 is overpriced and underpowered. And has been proven to "suck ass" regularly. Buy one if you want but don't come crying to us when you get laughed at.
hohoho @ Jan 17th 2007 1:30PM
>>Myth or not, I really enjoy winding you PS3 idiots up who were doing exactly the same to EVERYONE else (not just other system fanboys) for months before sony actually released their shytstem only to dissapoint anyone with half a brain and a low threshold for hype.
brilliant description of yourself, mate! btw, I have all 3 systems to compare. how about you? :D
fester @ Jan 17th 2007 6:58PM
It's quite simple, I have owned almost every gaming system since the Atari VCs2600 (inc the Playstation 1 which I loved btw). At any one time I have at least 6 gaming machines in my possesion throughout varying generations.
This is not about being a fanboy for any particular console, it is about being completely fed up and unimpressed with both Sony and it's BS eating fanboys who have taken it up the rear with the price and the hype and now can't admit that the PS3 sucks. It is flawed, bottlenecked, overpriced, under performing and is built by the most arrogant and non gamer centric company of the "big 3".
That is the reason I posted this stuff (and btw if anyone thinks they are getting a rise out of me by retorting, it's not happening. I posted the stuff on purpose to bring out/expose the Sony Droneys so all insults are completely understood and therefore have no effect.
How about telling us why your PS3 actually is good value for money, and why it is fit for it's purpose as a gaming machine over the 2 other current gen contenders?
Too hard to answer that so just spread fud instead, same old sony fanatics. :)
