I honestly think the other half of previous xbox owners who have yet to purchase a 360 are waiting for Halo 3. I personally know three previous xbox owners who have not yet bought a 360 but plan to once halo 3 comes out. So i'm pretty sure halo 3 is gonna push sales even further, bringing back a lot of those xbox owners who haven't plunged into the next gen yet (or at least thats what i'd like to see happen...after all, the more buyers, the more game developers are gonna wanna make games for the 360).

@flyguy

Experience? I've owned consoles since I got my Wonder Wizard Pong console in 1976. My Atari VCS lasted me 10 years. My NES lasted me 10 years. My Genesis lasted me 10 good years. My PlayStation lasted me 10 years. Microsoft lost my business because they treated their xbox adopters like South Vietnamese in Saigon as they flew away in their mighty M$ helicopters. I expect when Microsoft tries to release a new console to combat the success of the PS3's power in 2009 or so, they will abandon all their 360 owners again.

Ballmer is not your friend.

Not I.

My family was GC-XB, now Wii60.

Wonder how MS comes up with the whole 50% figure. Was it from polls or something? I certainly have never filled in any registration card or anything. I hope the figure isn't off Live, as that's only for the online population.

For the guy that asked how they got their numbers it is probably based off the information on the xbox live accnts. Basically seeing which live accnts transferred to 360 in reference to the accnts still on xbox and also accounting for the brand new ones that can't be linked to prior xbox accnts...

"I"

I began interest in the Xbox in early 2005, when all my friends were going nuts over Halo 2. But, I noticed it was getting late into that generation, so I thought "well, there is probably going to be a new Xbox out soon, I might as well just save some money and wait for that one. So I did.

it wasn't SouthVN fault, it US fault that they stop supporting the South and pull out of VN, while the North (VC) got strong supported by USSR and China.

I had a gamecube from the beginning and it was a great system, I didnt see the alure of an Xbox.
The 360 kept growing on me though after it was released and a month ago I finally went out and bought one. Awesome system.

I most definitely did not own a Xbox and I still would not to this day. I consider the two consoles to be completely separate and have nothing to do with each other. That's the only way I can justify owning a 360.

Nearly every friend that I have on Live owns or did own an original Xbox console. All of my friends, excluding one, has an original Xbox, he's a PC gamer. And all of my friends who don't have a 360 yet are waiting for Halo 3 to come out for it.

I own them all. I had diffrent reasons for getting each system, mostly for just 1 game. PS2 it was MGS2, NGC it was Naruto 2-4(Jap), Xbox... Halo 1 and 2, 360 I bought it because I won a copy of Gears of War at E3 and didnt own a 360 at the time.

I think owning all the systems worked out. If there was nothing new for Xbox, Id just get a NGC game, ir a PS2 game and so forth.

It really comes down to... "what are you playing?"

so I never had an original xbox, but i am now a 360 owner.

I own a 360. and a Wii
I bought a 360 cause it was cheaper then upgrading my computer (RIP GeForce Ti 4200) to play oblivion, and i knew about some other games i wanted (hl2, mass effect, bioshock). I got the Wii because zelda games are my favorite, and my gamecube is broken. I dont really want a ps3 from a moral standpoint, just becuase of the direction Sony is taking the platform, and as of yet, there just arn't enough exclusive games for it. I never owned an xbox 1 by the way, because halo was the only game i know of worth playing for it and i just played halo ce.

"48. So wait a minute...
360 has sold 10,000,000 to retailers in 14 months
PS3 has sold 2,000,000 to retailers in 2 months, not even including Europe.

And we're supposed to believe that the PS3 is a miserable failure?

Can someone explain that one to me?"

Because this time last year, you still couldn't find a stack of 360's sittin in stores waiting to be picked up unless you were in Japan, but you can pretty much walk into any EB, Gamestop, Bestbuy or even Circuit City and pick up a PS3, not to mention, the system software they have running for it could be better, they had a whole year to make it the uber monster they were crowning it as, but a year after the 360, they release it, and the only thing positive about it is that it has potential, that's understandable if you're first out the gate, not last, they could have done better, I mean, I'm still planning on getting a PS3, but I'm waiting for more games to stack up for it

I didn't have an original Xbox; I was a Sony kind of guy. I even bought a PSP . . unfortunately. But when the PS3 wound up costing more than my first car, I bought a 360. I don't regret the decision. People have tried to justify the purchase price with the word "Blu-ray". But I don't care about movies. I don't like to watch movies. I don't want a Blu-ray player. I want a gaming machine. The 360 has provided me with this so far.

for those of you spouting numbers sold, please check nexgenwars.com. those may not be EXACTLY accurate, but those are esitmated sales to consumers, not retailers. so the numbers may be off a little, but not enough to matter. but those are still consumer bought units.

I'm another one of the newly converted XBOX fans. I never had a XBOX but had both the Gamecube and PS2. When the XBOX came out, I was very against it, considering Gates built it up as basically being a computer that plays only games (so how is that diff than PC gaming?). Also, I didnt find any of the games to warrant the purchase. I'm not a big Halo fan, and even though Ninja Gaiden looked great, it wasnt worth buying a console for it. That being said, I waited about a year after the release of the 360 before purchasing it. As to be expected, the 360 was a little slow coming out of the gates (no pun intended) but since purchasing it, I definitely have no regrets. Live is by far the best way to set up online gaming. 500 digit friend codes? Are you kidding me? I used it on my DS for about 5 minutes before deciding Wi-Fi play wasnt worth it. Live makes it easy to keep in touch with people and meet alot of new people from around the world. Sure, there's alot of immature morons on it, but u can weed those people out more and more once you get a good friends list. Fanboys can say what they want, but for me, Live is a great system for a great console. Is nickle and diming people for ridiculous things like themes and icons absurd? Absolutely. But then again, I find it more appalling when people say I should work harder for their new system. Their arrogance is unbelieveable. And yes, this is coming from a 100% anti-XBOX person (and even anti-360 person when it was first released). People should try Live before dismissing it, especially the MS haters. Just a year ago, if someone asked me if an MS console would be my console of choice, I would have said not a chance. But seeing the strides the 360 has made recently combined with the ease of chat functions and online gaming, it's no longer a contest in my opinion. Tried and tested, I can't imagine going back to a console w/o solid online capabilities.

Yees, that's right. Microsoft MUST be engaging in the HIGHLY illegal practice of inflating thier sales numbers when reporting to the shareholders. Yeah that's it. Man, yet another nugget of wisdom from one of the deluded hockey helmet and short bus Sony ass lickers.

Aye,

But its been sat most of the last year gathering dust whilst my PS2 gets all the action. Gears of War changed that recently. I just hope more games are on the way that are this good for Xbox 360 and its not a 1 off.

I'm buying a PS3 too, keeping my eye on Wii but the last two generations of Nintendo are leaving a bad taste in my mouth. My last happy moment with Nintendo was with SNES.

I didn't own the original XBox 'cause I didn't want to give the evil corporation my money and 'cause I never thought I'd get the hang of those wacky controllers. One stick to move and another to look?

After a couple weeks of trying to find a Wii (which I was convinced I wanted) and being lied to by Best Buy employees, who were stockpiling Wii's until their flyers came out, I got mad and bought an XBox360. I had been contemplating it for a while 'cause the hardware is effing gorgeous and I like shooters like Gears and Call of Duty 3. I don't regret it at all and glad things played out like they did. Now I can play online with my friends who I don't get to see often, which is great. A lot of them got the 360 after seeing how great the graphics and online stuff worked. I can't believe I love a Microsoft product, but 360 converted me.
