As much as I want to say something bad about the PS3 here, I think it's worse that this would be the kid's wish. I would want to go somewhere... see something amazing. Not some stupid game console, whatever the brand.

I would wish to play Duke Nukem Forever/Halo 3/see the Halo movie before I die. But unfortantly I'd die without getting my wish.

On topic, it's pretty cool the kid got his wish, Wendy's is pretty damn good. It's just to bad the kid may not get to play any AAA titles for the ps3 considering the time it takes for decent games to come out after a console launches.

This has just prooven to me that MS Joystiq fanboys are the most iddiotic ppl on Earth, this isn't even a PS3 discussion, he only picked it cos he likes it, why are you coming down on him for that? Is he not entitled to his own likes and dislikes? Why is what he likes wrong and what you like right?

You're so busy commenting on the bloody 360, you don't even have time to make a justified opinion on the situation. Shows how far your brain powers go.

I am glad this guy is happy, I am glad he is recovering and I hope his tumour doesn't develop again like my aunt's did.

Sometimes there are more important things then gaming, my Aunt whom I was close to happened to be a sufferer of a brain tumour and although it was supposedly sorted, it came back and killed her. Best of luck to this guy, and I hope he recovers soon, after a surgery like this, it can take a while to get better, not only that, it can sometimes cause depression, he will need all the support from his family possible :)

What a waste of money. If the make a wish foundation just gave all these gifts' money to research to actually cure the diseases, we wouldn't have these problems.

Also, I dunno, if my kid were dying, I think I'd just shell out the money for the PS3 myself, or charge it if it's an issue. Nobody is going to get pissed at you for going into debt to buy your dying kid a PS3.

Holy crap! This is the first time I've read any news posted on this site from my homestate (Vermont). I'm glad the first story is a heartwarming one.

With Child's Play donating videgames to children's hostpitals, and make-a-wish fondations giving people PS3's, there must be something videogames are doing right nowadays to help ease pain and suffering. Take that Hilary Clinton and Jack Thompson!

While I do applaud the IBM guy (who has a lot of money, it would seem, and I'm glad that he used some of it in a way that would bring joy to another,) and I donate to Child's Play and MAWF, I still can't help but think the "little dissapointed" thing felt off. It takes away the normal feeling of gratitude that comes from charity, and creates a tone ot the article that felt more like a kid at Christmas. I'm certainly not going to berate him for it or anything, but I would've thought it polite to hide any dissapointment a little better.

Then again, kid had a brain tumor, I don't even know what that can really do to someone, you know? *shrug*

OK, I just wrote a post that I think was eaten, and I don't feel like typing it again. Basic gist:

Make a Wish is an organization more concerned with creating photo-ops good enough to get them more funding than they are with actually helping kids who are going to die.

MAKE A WISH SUCKS.

Child's Play > Make a Wish

I think Microsoft will somehow make do with the 'non-terminal' niche.

It's kind of sad that a dying kid wants material things. I'd hope, in that situation, I'd ask for something like a trip somewhere I'd read about, like the moon or Paris Hilton.

not wanting a ps3 has nothing to do with not being able to afford one.

It has to do with "I dont give a shit about blue-ray and it has no fucking games"

blue ray? tack on
whats that? every single fucking game out and that is coming out (oh, i'm sorry, 90%) is already out on 360, and the 360 is cheaper. Check the March release list for ps3. Theres about hmm.. 6-7 games that have been out on xbox for months.

Oh that's right.... Since the games suck ass, and there aren't gonna be any for a long while, that might result in a few problems.

Besides - I'll bet the kid actually wanted a Wii. But they couldn't find one and settled on a PS3.

#36 Oh, I'm sorry. Really I am. I'm trying not to be a complete asshole, unlike all the PS3 fanboys who flooded 360 forums less than a year ago...you know...before E3 '06 when it all hit the fan for Sony.

So, I'm so gosh golly sorry that I have to pay you back for all your jackassery.

Furthermore, just remember when NOT buying into Sony was called thinking for yourself and Microsoft was the underdog.

And ya...he's only on earth for a little while longer. Why not get a system that has tons of great games NOW instead of later this year and into next year? Because I have an itch this was ALL stirred up by the soulless marketing department at Sony. What better way to say "Buy Playstation 3 Now" than to have a terminally ill kid get one...

PS3 ppl, it is not worth bringing yourself down to the petite minds of a hardcore Joystiq 360 fanboy, it is better to rise above it, if they are so upset at the fact that someone prefered something other then what they like, then they seem more like the ones with the brain tumour. Maybe they need checking out, or the people in white coats come pick them up.

If you came here to rant about his pick of a PS3 rather then the situation, then you must be a typical gaming nerd, those ones with the thick wheel sized glasses that never stops talking about you games and consoles when the rest of the people in your class are discussing thier partners, or sports :) It is wise for you to go out and see the light for once in your life.
