Michael,

Umm, no. The link to the original press release is included in the article (three times!) -- if you want to read dry press releases, you're at the wrong place. :)

Ahahahaha, great article, I chuckled. I'm disapointed some people missed the sarcasm though. 3 million sold in such a small time is huge, can't people see this?
Gears is a great game, I hope they make more maps though, old bones and ravendown were nice but getting old now, but still fun.

I feel lonely.

You see, I'm that guy. The guy who loves his Xbox 360, but *doesn't like Gears of War.

I tried. I really did. It just didn't "grab" me, and honestly, it made me feel nauseous and gave me a headache.

I failed to understand why running from pretty-but-ruined scene A to pretty-but-devastated scene B and shooting a dozen bad guys from behind a fallen chunk of masonry was interesting. I admit it: I didn't "get it."

Oh, I like shooters. I love Half-Life & Half-Life 2. I'm a total Team Fortress fanatic. I loved Deus Ex (played through it seven times!) and conquered every version of Doom in the 90s. I loves me a good FPS, and I like the occasional 3PS, too.

But GoW. . . I just felt WRONG to me. Boring. Lots of pretty, but nothing compelling. I couldn't get into the character (Mr. tough-as-nails-drummed-out-of-the-military-stereotype-badass Duke Nukem, BJ, Space Marine clone) and I couldn't get into hating the enemy (mean dudes? Monsters? What or who am I fighting, and why?) and I couldn't see why I was dodging between the ever-present chunks of masonry with a group of stupid grunts who just got themselves killed so I could finish the level. I felt like I was on a track, and couldn't veer off to look at things, try a different route, or avoid conflicts that would almost surely take place in that area with all the chunks of masonry beyond the room filled with ammo and grenades. I felt like I had no *freedom*.

"My name is ZeroCorpse, and I don't like Gears of War."

I'm now in a twelve-step program for people who didn't like Gears of War. Unfortunately, it seems like I'm the only member. I want to bow to peer pressure! I want to like it! Really!

I just don't. I'm sorry. Something's wrong with me. Forgive me, Cliffy B! I hate your game! It's nothing personal.

Maybe if there had been some crates to destroy. . .

After reading this makes me want to run out and buy a PS3 along with Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire. Burger King is closing down where I live.

This is all just such nonsense! 3 mln in 10 weeks is HUGE! Considering that a store is opens only half a day thats 840 business hours, meaning 3571 copies an hour or 60 copies a minute. Thats 1 copy every second! Here you go, oh, here you go, oh! Jeez!

PS: my favorite was "depress release".

There is only one flaw in this game: You're required to have an Internet connection before playing. I don't have one at home.
Do I really need to be forced to connect to XBL to play a game I just paid $60 for? Is it really that difficult or damaging to Microsoft's business model to include the update on the disc like was done with ALL Xbox games?
I was so pissed when I got home (after actually finding a copy - it seemed to be sold out everywhere).

At least the one game I have purchased for my 360 rules, because I probably won't ever buy another.

Aahhh Microsoft, as you can see Gears didn't help the X360 much. $ony must be so happy of your failure. I'm sure $ony feels the same way about Toshiba selling 120,000 HD DVD's players and Microsoft selling 100,000 HD DVD Add Ons.

oh my god..the only good game worth playing on the 10mn 360 consoles out, and MS sold 3mn of them..bet no PS3 games sells as much within the first 1.5 Years of launch..you would have to choose between Resistance, Motorstorm, Lair, Heavenly sword, Killzone, MGS4, GTA4, Tekken 6, FF13, White knight story, DMC4. Whereas on 360 you have Gears (5 hours long, but of course you have multiplayer, 50 dollar per year)

@63

I guess no one will be playing Assassins Creed, Forza 2, BioShock, Lost Planet, Oblivian, Halo 3, Halo Wars, Mass Effect, GTA 4, Rainbow 6: Vegas, Resident Evil 5, Too Human, Virtua Fighter 5, Huxley, Blue Dragon, since Gears is the only game that will ever be worth playing on the 360. ;)
