Question...where are all of the reports about the PS3 breaking down? As much mud that has been slinging around concerning the PS3...SURELY there has to be some reports of massive failures of the PS3. I have seen next to nothing on this, wonder why. Maybe Sony learned it's lesson from the crappy Playstation and the equally crappy PS2. Crappy meaning the quality of the sytems durability. The PS3 does not feel cheap, it looks like a quality product.
And yes #43 pattyblades it is a shame that the Genocide going on right now with the Janjaweed death squads backed by the Sudanese Govt. and noone seems to care. The ironic thing here is the darfur region is mostly chritian...and the are being wiped out by muslims.
And I thought Dubya cared about his fellow christians...oh wait a minute, they are not white.

Funny thing. Today is January 20th. On January 19th I contacted Microsoft for a friend who's xbox was malfunctioning (probably his own fault) and Microsoft is doing what i'm familiar with. They are sending him a box through DHL. Just like they did with my original xbox. Looks like policy has already changed back.

#48 seems to also have the same deal. Something is up. Contact Microsoft again or if your outside the country...Good luck because I don't know.

FinalDelerium, I dont understand how you can defend microsoft in this case. and since when can you agree to warranty BEFORE buying a product!?

MS is shipping units that they KNOW will fail under NORMAL usage. any other company would have been brought to it's knees and shot for this.

The problem is that Microsoft is losing less money by returning half-dead systems than actualy fixing their product line.

People, the point is not the cost of shipping. The point is Microsoft's console failing left and right, up to seven times for the same person. The fact that MS then feels they need to add salt to the wound by making the customer pay for the shipping shows a lack of respect for the customer.

This guy found a loophole in their shipping policy in order to express his frustration with this state of affairs. It's funny, it's clever, it probably won't work but what else to these people on their 2nd and 3rd and 4th defective Xbox have better to do.. it's not like they can play games.

Picking up as many dead xboxes as possible is the wrong way to go with this plan. instead, he needs to make sure that it is just his own xbox in there, and that the box is packaged "securely" inside with lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of packing peanuts. Make the Microsoft techs work even more for the unit once it arrives.

ZOMG, The people of Joystiq have figured it out.

Microsoft purposely sells broken 360's, repairs them free of charge, in order to scam you out of the cost of shipping and postage!

I know where you can get tons of these containers for free. I will donate the services of my truck to chain the container to the back, and drag it around microsoft's front lawn while doing donuts f350 diesel style.

RAMX, you dont agree to the warranty before you purchase the product, you agree to it upon purchasing said product. You are more than entitled to read the warranty and ask questions in relation to it before the purchase of a several hundred dollar piece of hardware. Then, if you arent happy with the terms of the warranty, you dont have to buy the product.

Fairly simple really. Kinda like looking at fruit in the supermarket. You check to see if it's rotten before you put it in the trolley. Poor analogy, but you get the idea.

Also, not defending microsoft, because they've done nothing that needs defending.

Trouble with this is, Microsoft makes more money in a nano second than it would cost for them to return the container. Plus, all they have to do is refuse shipment and it ends up back in your lap. Save your money on such foolishness. If you want to gather funds for something, feed the homeless.

I call bullshit on this guy. My Xbox360 died last week and I had no issues whatsoever with the Microsoft support. I called them, told them it was broke, they said it was covered and have since sent me a return package (postage paid) for the unit. All in all the phone call took 10 minutes at the most. They never asked for any money and the guy on the phone was very nice about.

What I find amusing is that I just sent my 360 in for the THIRD time, and they never told me anything about sending it back. The first time it happened, it was about a month after I hooked it up, then the second time it was a week after that, this third time was about 11 months after the second time. This will be my 4th 360, and I'm sure if something happens to that one and I have to send it back, I won't be paying to send it back either.

Man if I wasnt a man of God I could make a ton of cash off of the ignorant people.

Okay lets review the steps shall we?

We have a guy that states that he will ship his 360 in a shipping container that will more than likely hurt him more financially than the company he's sending it to.I mean lets face it m$ probably has a couple of these suckers stored out back I know most retail stores do.

Second he just wants to put his 360 in initially but if enough funds come in he will tour the country side picking up broken 360's to take along for the journey.First off.If he gets enough donantions, ask yourself whats enough?500,5,000, 10,000?

Third why would he spend all that cash on a domain to advertise this nonsense, then tour the country side which will cost a pretty penny, plus he will need to hire a driver full time as this is a full time job, unl;ess he has his own means of transporting a shipping container.(never doing it because he didnt get enough funds, and who will know how much he will get in donations?)

You see its people like this that make me question if the 360 is breaking dowen because its faulty or be cause of extreme stupidity.

If you are on your 7th 360, heres a tip......Stop wasting your time.I would be hard pressed to love a system that I have problems continually out of.I have had my 360 since november 22 2005.And guess what I do?

I wipe down all of my equipment nearly everyday when I clean.I make sure everything is well ventilated of course.

And I play my stsems in adequate amounts of time.

What I dont do is.....

I dont play my system 12 hours a day, dont leave it dusty so that dust can get inside of it.Remember the fans suck air inside so if its a dusty area then your console will be dirty inside.I dont leave my power brick on carpet and as a result I have a properly functioning system.Oh I forgot...I dont fall asleep with my system on, hell I even unplug it or turn it all the way off at night.I do this to my ps3 as well.I dont leave anything(gaming system) in standby mode.Never have never will.

Now if you are having legitimate problems then I am not talking to you, but after my second system being shipped back I would monitor it and try and see if I was the problem. You know call the friend that doesnt have a problem with his.How does he have his stationed?Where is his located, what kind of emviroment is his in?Is it a clean area etc.

Save your money people or you could send it to me, as I will always take it without question.

This is pretty freakin funny!

You guys need to get off of your conspiracy trains. If the RC did the things you people claim, it would have been all over the news. Yay for rumors!

Microsoft cant legally sell a product that is known to be defective, especially under normal use. There are consumer laws to protect us from these kind of actions. Besides, if it was known that Microsoft was going around the law with these xbox360's, there would be a civil court by now, and the BBB would be ALL OVER their asses.

Guys, study up on a little bit of law, get off of the conspiracy train, and worry about the poverty and f*cked up things that are going on in our own country before you go and put your nose into another country's business(as most claim we did with Iraq and Afghanistan, it would be doing the same with the genocide stuff).

The idea for a big box is funny, but they will probably just ship it back in a smaller box.

The manager probably just made up that policy coz he didn't like the way the guy talked to him.

Also, why do you guys keep buying Xbox 360's if it keeps breaking? Get a Wii!

Nintendo makes DURABLE products. My original NES still freakin works. That's like 20 years old. And it WORKS. MS sucks.

This is stupid. People who get this emotional and obsessed over a broken game console need to move out of their parent's house, get a real life and experience some real life problems.

My xbox 360 died last night. Contacted 18004myxbox today and they said that the repair was free of charge due to their extended 1 year warranty (xbox is 8 months in usage) but I HAD TO SHIP MY CONSOLE AT MY EXPENSE. W/E, the 27$ spent on the shipping to texas is better than paying 140$ for repair yet i still dont understand why microsoft hasnt issued a recall for the known batch of 360s that are manufactured improperly. Posts say my chances of getting a refurbished 360 is high which is ridiculous considering im not getting what i sent, a mint condition 360 that hasnt had any problems (except for a minor disk ejecting jam & a defective wireless controller which MS has replaced) for 8 months until last night. And I use to think so highly of you, the Xbox division of MS......

just paid 24 bucks to pack and ship my 2 month old xbox360. I asked about the pre-paid box and the lovely folks in India told me that they do NOT provide those anymore. So I had to pay to pack, insure, and ship a two month old product. I could completely understand if the product was out of warranty, or even if there was a place I could take it locally (and keep it in warranty). But 2 months? That's crazy talk
