After taking the low-road with the likes of exploding batteries and secret, self-installing spyware, Sony is taking the moral high-ground with the adult film industry. Producers of hot, explicit adult content have been told that Sony's Blu-ray disc duplication centers will not be manufacturing their filth. Ever.
Digital Playground Inc., a world-lass distributor of smut, further squashed the PS3's fetish fantasies by revealing that Sony had informed third-party replicators that they would lose their license if they duplicate any adult material.
This is an intersting choice by Sony. Whether you approve of adult-themed content or not, there's no denying that it drives dollars. There's even a school of thought that it was the adult industry's backing of VHS that was the true nail in Betamax's coffin. Has Sony just given the keys to the movie kingdom to HD-DVD?
