The bulls are humans and the people are the Wii -- go get 'em. It's no secret that attaining a Wii since Christmas has been far more difficult than originally anticipated. Anyway, between Gamestop's
$50 Gamecube trade-in deal and the stockpiled Wiis at some retailers, expected to be "officially"
announced in tomorrow's Sunday flyers, it might be a good idea to start getting a move on today and plan ahead to camp out if you're still trying to get the system. And, because Joystiq cares, please check your local
weather report before camping. Please dress
appropriately. The Wii is not worth dying for.

Why do stores stock piles systems in which have launched already (2 MONTHS!!!) and the holidays have past. I mean why can't they just put the systems on the shevles once they arrive. I'm getting tired of stores doING these mini launches. Why can't they have the common sense like EB/GS to just put the freaking systems on the shelves when they arrive. HEY STORES THE LAUNCH AND HOLIDAYS ARE OVER.....WHATS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND?

Best Buy employee here. I checked our emails yesterday and there was a note about the Wii sale tomorrow. This isnt verbatim, its from memory, so here goes:
"Do not sell any Wii units before 1/21. Keep all units for the sunday sale. Do to the agreement with Nintendo, we must keep all units for the sale."
It was something along those lines. If anyone else at BB has a camera phone, check out the faq about the sunday sale and take a pic of it, that's where I got this info.
I'm just wondering what they meant by 'agreement with Nintendo'. Does the Big-N have something going on with retailers, or did they just put that in there because BB wanted to make it sound official? I'm not saying there's a conspiracy or anything, but why would all the big box retailers be stockpiling systems for a 'SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!!!! sale'? Are EB and Gamestop doing the same thing?

You "attain" intangible objects, such as "nirvana" or "respect" or "victory." What you guys *meant* to say was that "OBTAINING a Wii since Christmas has been far more difficult than originally anticipated." You see, when you're dealing with tangible objects, you "obtain" them. Okay, seriously, get off the god talk.
1. George Carlin is hilarious and wise man but he is hardly something to base an entire arguement against a religion over. You may hold your beliefs but still, let others hold theirs.
2. Organized religion has enough infighting and battles going on without militant atheists jumping in the mix. militant atheists are every bit as bad as the "organized religious zealots" they claim to hate because of their "in your face attitude."
3. No, I don't have a religion or theology. I have life. I respect those in my life (but on the internet, I could give a fuck what you think about me and likewise, I would rather slurp the wet farts from a pigeons ass than sweat what random posters say to each other) and treat them well enough. And I do it because I feel like doing it. Being a decent guy is something easy to obtain without needing a guide or purpose to those ends.
4. THE FUCK DOES THIS SHIT HAVE TO DO WITH WII ANYWAY?
Frosty22 @ Jan 20th 2007 1:54PM
Just to let you know where I'm coming from, I am a united methodist seminary student and a youth pastor. Have I read the Bible? Yes, a couple times over.
I find it interesting that you believe the Bible was made to control the population! Did you know that the new testament was written between 50-70ad, 20 to 40 years after the ministry of Jesus Christ. Did you also know that the writers of the Bible were killed off, imprisoned, martyred, etc for being Christians? The Roman government at the time was anti Christian anti Judaism. If you were found reading the Bible or practicing Christianity you were killed. Explain to me how it was written for population control please.
I am concerned that people are getting all this misinformation about what Christianity is from nonChristians that don't have a clue what they are talking about. Do not get a picture of what Christianity is from the likes of George Carlin, who may have never stepped foot in a church. You talk about things you have never studied.
Have you read the Bible? The New Testament does not utter one word other than complete Love. That is what God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit is all about.
I often wonder if atheists get their religious knowledge from thin air, and their atheism actually originates from laziness. Which is fine... but if that is the case don't talk as if you know what you are talking about.

EBgames and Gamespot hold a trade in offer to save less than 20% off a PS3 and obviously it's because PS3 is failing and EBgames and Gamespot are desperate to move some stock. EBgames and Gamespot hold a similar bargain for Wii and this same thinking is remarkably absent from their snide comments section.
So no. The only time we get a PS3 is doing good story is when sales suddenly spike (Feb 8th in Japan, watch for it) but it will be covered with a comment like "if only they liked Gears Of War...."
Frosty22 @ Jan 20th 2007 2:07PM
Oh and the whole churches just want power thing...
Where do people get this! Most churches are governed by its members. Are there churches that are exceptions to this? Yes. But almost all denominational churches are governed by their members. In fact, the members actually vote on and decide the salaries (which are extremely underpaid) of the staff, pastor included.
Also of interest... why are the churches going to homeless shelters, Katrina victims, tsunami victims, prisons, retirement homes, etc etc to do their ministries if they were just power hungry? Are these people 'powerful' people that can help further the 'power hunger' that all churches have? Give me a break. Churches contribute more charitable money than most other entities. The United Methodist Church contributed over 6 billion dollars to charities alone. Why would they bother shelling out 6 billion dollars if they are just after power? Come on people, wake up. Find out where you are getting your statistics and views from. Are they legitimate? Or are they crap.

HAH.
Like some people mentioned, the very LAST thing I'd want would be some lunatic trying to convert me into something by telling me fairytales. What would I want? Something REAL, like maybe support from other live (and sane) human beings.
"It is the Christian ministries that are making a difference in this world. I'm not trying to open up a fight or debate. Just pointing out the absurdity that we as a culture take our advice from comedians and television shows."
Absurd as opposed to taking advice out of some old, vague book that is constantly being reinterpreted by every man and his dog to fit their personal ideas? Isn't that the EXACT same thing as listening to Oprah?
And it's funny, too. You assume if we don't take advice from the bible, we must take it from SOMEWHERE. Like comedians? I mean no human could POSSIBLY be smart enough to think for themselves, right? You seem to apply that to yourself, too.
No, all that is just for the purpose of keeping everyone inside the cult, weeding out individuality, and shield you from reality.
"and their atheism actually originates from laziness."
HAHA, you mean thinking for yourself instead of taking all your ideas out of a book is lazy? Well, you wrote your own counter-argument. Thanks.

To Frosty 22,
The bible was written by the people to bring morality to a corrupt Roman government and way of life. The Romans were against this but them assimilated it into their own religion in which they could control. (The Roman Catholic Church) Christianity is corrupt. Judaism is the only true religion.
sheppy @ Jan 20th 2007 2:41PM
Jesus Jumped-up Christ, Frosty, you couldn't leave it alone. Whatever happened to "turning the other cheek," brother? Obviously some people make angry, pointless comments at Christianity and the natural thing to do is to shrug it off. After all, either by research or ignorance, their decision is made. There is no point in arguing with someone who obviously isn't going to see your perspective. But you, and people like you, spend majority of you time bitching about how "picked upon" and "left out" Christianity is while complaining about Happy Holidays when you fucking christians have a vast majority of the legislative power in the US government.
For your information, George Carlin was raised a devout Roman Catholic and for the life of him, while watching the women of his neighborhood getting the shit beat out of them yet being constantly scorned by the church when they contemplated divorce, just couldn't figure out how such teachings, when applied by man, seemed so very, very cruel. Naturally, as he started having these doubts, Vietnam began to throw even more doubts into his philosphies of the modern power structure. While he has many a bones about organized religion, he has just as many about the government and even the yuppies he grew up around. You claim others are lazy for not researching but if you look, historically, at the most prominant figures to the atheistic movement, both politically and popculturally, you'd discover they have heavy past dealing within a religion.
And boohoo, christians are picked upon nowadays and when they started. Try to convince a jewish man during the spanish inquisition about the pains of being christian while your people were flaining the skin from their back with heated metal chains. For every 3 years of the christian movement where they had to deal with trials and tribulations, they dished out 7. Do you even know how much farther human society would be if not for the fact that every scientist was jailed, every astronomer was executed, and every doctor was tried for witchcraft for at least 500 years? Not to say Christians were the only ones to do it but let's face it, there were some pretty damned advanced civilizations in the past, all brought down by conquorers, and if they hadn't been taken down, just try to imagine the world we would have today. All cultures rape and pillage from other cultures without really truly creating real progress. I'd have to say that only recently began to change and you can see a real difference in progress in the past 200 years compared to before. So when you ask me to feel sorry for christians when they first began, what about the Jewish people? Christianity's roots? Burned, flayed, killed, wholesale slaughtered? What about the Muslims as holy crusaders marched into their lands and began the bloodiest war in the history of the world? And then I have to hear, every christmas, about how "Happy Holidays" is a high fucking crime?
I mean, FUCK, look at our current situation in the US. We got a good old fashioned godboy running the country like the fucking crusades. I remember election time. Hearing "well, if that Gore guy gets elected, that's the end of God in our country" and that's the most ignorant shit I had ever heard. Church and State should be seperate but not anymore, boyo. And what do we have to show for it? We have a president that, rather than dealing with rising unemployment rates, lowering graduation rates and effectiveness in schools, welfare system failing, healthcare system failing, homelessness on the rise (although, to be fair, most of the homeless population is either mentally unstable or substance abusers but programs need to be in place to help those people too), a war who's basic concept is incredibly similar to the Nike slogan of "Just Do It," and big name corporations getting away with stealing from everyday people, the biggest concern this asswipe came up with was "Them dirty faggots can't be allowed to marry." Truth be told, maybe it's time to kick gods ass back out of capital hill, like we did in the first place?
If this seems kind of abrasive, keep in mind, Year after year, church helps child rapists escape the country and the grasp of the law. Something not even republicans can successfully achieve. Year after year, I get to hear about how anyone but christians should be treated as second class citizens and I get to hear about how horrible Muslims and Jews are (I live in a largely muslim community and I prefer it to the largely christian community where I used to live. christians were busy talking shit about each other, and generally looking down on anyone outside of their little group. Despite being agnostic, I'm constantly invited to social gatherings here and even get to join in various musical "jams") when, to me, they seem like the most decent people I know. And notice how I left Atheists out as well. I'm so fucking tired of their "your god is dead" bullshit I can't even see straight.
So keep that in mind next time you make a blanket statement, k?
Frosty22 @ Jan 20th 2007 2:40PM
I've tried living my life selfishly based on what I have come up with, and I've lived my life trusting that God knows what is best for me based on the Bible. I've seen my life based on both instances. I did not like who I was becoming when I lived my life without God.
It takes a big person to blindly trust in something bigger than their self. You might call that weak, but I do not. Life is so much better when you trust in God. But you can't take my word for that, just as I wouldn't have taken someone else's word for it either at that point in my life. I went through a point where I thought religion was a crock too in college. Thought it was the best time of my life too at the time. Now I describe it as the worst part of my life. I belive there is a difference between thinking for yourself and making something up. Obviously a valid opinion should be based on SOMETHING. If you want to look at what we know about history, the fact that the wirters of most of the New Testament were killed for their beliefs, and sill have your own opinion that they were just making up the stories for fun, then so be it, but please dont try to act like you know everything about the bible and every christian is just some blind idiot. Is there a reason why people are converted to christianity every day? Is it because they felt the holy sprit moving in them or is it because they just arent as smart as you?
Would there be thousands of christians worshipping in caves in China, risking their lives, for no reason? Granted, they fact that people worship in secret is no valid argument (Muslims "martyr" themselves everyday), but you can't just go and dimiss christians as idiots. Isn't it worth aking the time and doing some research, reading the bible in context? It sounds like you are getting your information from a number of questionable sources (bible out of context, comedians).
Finally, how does the fact that the bible was used for power negate its validity?
I know that you now hav a mindset that I and most other Chrisian are just some ignorant retards that have a false faith and pray and sing to the clouds in vain, but I for on have no doubt in my mind that God exists.
I know that this sort of thing is only for those stupid in-your-face losers, but I invite you to take a few hours of your lif, and read the New Testamnt. Atleast then you will have a background on which to base your argument. I will pray for you.

There are many misuses of all religions.
I felt very bad after your response. I'm sorry that I invoked that emotional message from you. Yes, all religions have made their mistakes (Crusades, Jihad, Holocaust, etc) and some mistakes are still being continued. But religion aside, the Gospel is true. For those that are trying to live out the Gospel, amazing things are happening through them. There are many 'Christians' that do not make an effort to live as Jesus would have us, and bad things happen because of that. The fact that there is such hatred towards Christianity speaks that Christianity is obviously not doing all things right, but the Gospel is still true.
When Christians forget that it is all about love, bad things happen. And I'm sorry for that and for those 'Christians' that have done such things. We can only truly be accountable to God and to ourselves, however. The fact that this world is not the end all be all should be some consolation for all the travesties that false Christians have committed.
Once again, sorry that I brought about those feelings in you. That was not my intention.

But come on guys, if you're going to argue with people, make it about the games. We've already got excellent material:
Graphics v. Gameplay
Nintendo v. Sony v. Microsoft
Hit franchise v. Hit franchise
MMOs v. everything else
Derivative v. Innovative
The point being, if you want to argue with someone about religion, abortion, gay rights, the war in Iraq, or more geeky things like Mac v. PC v. Linux, Marvel v. DC, or worst of all, Blu-ray v. HD-DVD, TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE. There are hundreds of websites (or forums) where the entire point is to have those arguments.
Also, the Wii is a second-rate system that you shouldn't camp out for.

The wiimote you can probably get without waiting in line--just go in the front of the line and walk right in as if you're shopping for something else (you are), although the BestBuy employees will do their best to deter you from getting one--the last "mini-launch" of stockpiles was when I was able to scour up an extra nunchuck from BestBuy, 2 Wiimotes from Walmart, and 1 Wiimote from Circuit City (so my friends and I could play 4-player tennis, 2-player boxing).
Just go and grab the items....just be forewarned the employees will say that they are for the people that waited in line. I waited in line on the original launch day, and own a Wii, and could've gotten all the accessories originally but didn't think I'd have a problem finding them (silly me--but probably because it was after the first claims of straps breaking to replace them with thicker straps).
The box looks like a Wii accessory box, white, and a Wiimote inside. Am sure there's a pic you could scrounge for on BestBuy/CircuitCity website. Hope that helps.
