Halo 3 Beta notices this week, phase one registration closed

The first wave of Halo 3 Beta registrants will be notified of their acceptances this week, bringing phase one of Bungie's registration process to a close. A brief statement posted on Halo3.com reads: "If you have been selected to participate, congratulations and stay tuned for an email notification on the week of January 22-26, 2007." Anyone expecting?

Two additional registration phases will follow, beginning with the "Rule of Three" Halo 2 playathon (Feb. 1). The final invitations to join the beta will be granted through the purchase of specially-marked retail boxes of Crackdown, which releases February 20.

In related news, Microsoft has confirmed that the Crackdown demo, which will not offer access to Halo 3 Beta, will launch on Xbox Live tomorrow, January 23 (2:00 A.M. PST).

Even if I get selected for the MP beta, I'm still picking up Crackdown.

Thank God for this article! I was starting to think there would be no Halo 3 news today, and was starting to panic!! God knows what will happen if we don't get a new article about Halo 3 EVERY SINGLE DAY! Thankfully that won't happen.

That last mention of the Crackdown demo excites more than all of news for the Halo beta. Mainly because my chances of actually getting to play that demo are better than "a cold day in Hell".

As much as I really want the Halo 3 beta, I don't know if shelling out $60 for Crackdown is worth it.

Then again, once I play the Crackdown demo, I may change my mind. If it really is like old-school GTA reborn, then I might pick it up, but if it's just another blatant GTA ripoff (a la Saint's Row), then no way.

If i am accepted it would be nice. but i am buying crackdown for the fact that i want this game, if they say i get a halo 3 beta invite i think ill just ask them to give it to someone else while just take the game. i want to play the beta but not as much as crackdown.

I'm looking forward to the game Crackdown, but can't get over the fact that you are guaranteed a spot on the H3 beta. It will be nice playing Halo 2 on February 1st, I bet there won't be any waiting for people in matchmaking, just like old times.

I have just recieved my invatation!!! Wonder how many people have gotten the oppertunity like me? Oh well, still picking up Crackdown regardless.

Yes!, I just looked in my email and it said i have been chosen for the Halo 3 Beta. Hell Yeah!. Dont have to buy crackdown anymore

They sent me a letter at 5 PM today to say that they would be shipping out invitations later this week, though it seems they have already begun to do so. I'm really starting to think that I should have used my hotmail account to register for the beta instead of my *gasp* G-Mail account, which is a thing I hadn't thought of at the time (Anyone using a G-mail account get an invite yet by any chance?) I'm waiting and hoping, but I'm not holding my breath. If all else fails, there is always Crackdown and the other promotion they've got going on. I'd really rather just get my invite and be done with it though.
