BloodRayne flick up for six awards (hint: not Oscars)
Uwe Boll's BloodRayne has been nominated for six Golden Raspberry Awards, including Worst Actress (Kristanna Loken), Worst Supporting Actress, Worst Supporting Actor, Worst Screenplay, Worst Picture, and of course, Worst Director. Technically, BloodRayne is a 2005 movie, but seeing as how Boll missed out on a 'Razzie' last year, the foundation voted to give him another shot. Best of luck, Uwe!The Golden Raspberry Awards were established in 1980 to dis-honor the year's worst films, the people who star and them, and the people who make them. Boll will be up against directors Michael Caton-Jones, M. Night Shyamalan, and Keenan Ivory Wayans; while BloodRayne will face Basic Instinct 2, Lady in the Water, Little Man, and Wicker Man for Worst Picture rights. The award ceremony will be held at Hollywood's Ivar Theatre on Saturday, February 24.

Those were all terrible movies, so they are all winners (cough) to me.
Justin @ Jan 23rd 2007 7:11PM
God he's a disgusting piece of dog vomit. He just loves to ruin videogame stories.
mushiking @ Jan 23rd 2007 7:22PM
i honestly love Uwe Boll, the guy's brilliant. his movies bomb one after another, while everyone says he sucks and he's a failure... yet all the while no one realizes what he's actually doing.
StMadnes @ Jan 23rd 2007 8:40PM
I'd love to attend this event..
Norm @ Jan 23rd 2007 7:30PM

I know exactly what he's doing. He's making absolutely terrible movies based off of absolutely terrible games.
Hamicide @ Jan 23rd 2007 7:38PM
haha, mushiking is Uwe Boll in disguise.
nice try Uwe.
makesevenupyours @ Jan 23rd 2007 7:38PM
stupid hos that dont appreciate the great film that was "lady in the water."
redjack @ Jan 23rd 2007 9:12PM
Uwe Boll's pictures are like Paris Hilton. No amount of money will ever make them classy, there are holes so big you can crawl into them, and there's no original parts left. Probably a bit of corn if you look too.
Mike @ Jan 23rd 2007 7:50PM
Yeah, I liked Lady in the Water aswell.

Just remember that we are all laughing at him, too.

Sadly enough, that's not exactly redeeming when the movie sucks so bad that it's embarrassing.

Uwe Boll makes absolutely horrendous movies. I hope that BloodRayne wins every last Razzie it was nominated for.

you're also paying him. has it ever occurred to you why he has money to keep making these shitty films? well it's quite simple: Boll's exploiting a special loophole that allows him recoup losses off of any failed film he makes, meaning every time you DON'T see one of this movies, he gets paid money, so he can continue to make one shit after another and still turn a profit.
still think he's so stupid?
dirtyone @ Jan 23rd 2007 9:38PM
i liked lady in the water just remember it's a scary movie for kids
Ryan @ Jan 23rd 2007 9:13PM
You're Winner!
PhantomVI @ Jan 23rd 2007 9:15PM
@18
That's not exactly the way it works. His financiers used a now-closed loophole in the German tax law to write off their losses as a tax deduction.
Retro Otaku @ Jan 23rd 2007 9:24PM
@ 18
Yep, I still think he's stupid. It doesn't take a genius to bypass the tax laws. >_>
Jeremy @ Jan 26th 2007 12:11AM
luckyly i never saw his mvies
ViciousVariable @ Jan 23rd 2007 9:46PM
18 - It makes him a good producer. Not a good director; in fact, I would argue that if that's all he's doing he's not a director at all but just a guy with pretensions of artistry when he should be behind the scenes keeping charge of the books and funding.
By the by, do you mind not making films anymore man?
Shibathedog @ Jan 24th 2007 2:02AM
and here i was thinking i was the only one who thinks M. Night Shyamalan is a piece of crap director who makes piece of crap movies.
LK @ Jan 23rd 2007 11:35PM
In a more perfect world, it would be mandatory to pay a fine each time one gets nominated for a Razzie. Higher fines and a public apology would be charged if someone actually wins the award. After all this, the money will obviously go towards refunds to the unfortunate public that saw those movies.
If it were so, we would never have the horror that is Uwe Boll.
If only...
driven2sin @ Jan 23rd 2007 11:37PM
you are all ridiculous. you have to look at video ame movies for the few gems they provide. there is no way that these movies will be good for you so why not just be happy that BloodRayne was the first to the have the lead character get banged against jail bars.
none of you even like movies that is why you play video games...
LK @ Jan 24th 2007 12:08AM
@26
On the contrary, I'd think gamers love movies as seen by the sheer influence it has in much of gaming.
We have games like Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, etc. that has deep cinematic feel behind them that many of us have to say, "It feels just like playing a movie!" We also get numerous movie references and themes in our games. Dead Rising or Resident Evil games would not have the distinct surivial-horror feel without the numerous successes of zombie flicks, and Solid Snake would not look as badass if it wasn't for Kurt Russell in Escape from New York. Even basic storytelling in games ripped everything from cinema from the stories to the camera work. Games relied so heavily on movies for inspiration that to truly enjoy many of the games out there, gamers would have to watch movies.
Which is why it is so saddening to see video games fail to make the transitions on the silver screen especially since Video Games are a more similar medium to movies compared to books and graphic novels. It should not be difficult to produce a successful movie from a video game. Heck, Crank showed some promise of a decent movie in recent memory with many video game elements that should be familiar to the average gamer (despite the fact that the movie was not well-received).
For the tl;dr version, you're crazy. Gamers watch movies as much as they play video games. And with hope, we could have a good video game movie.
Rubang B @ Jan 24th 2007 12:13AM
That was the dumbest comment I've ever read. We don't like movies because we like video games? I'm sorry, but you can't just decide that two interests are mutually exclusive.
It's part of the backwards way society as a whole views gamers. When somebody gets the rights to make a film based on a popular book, everybody gets excited, hoping the director stays true to the story we all love. When they get the rights to a video game, we all cringe, because we know they think so poorly of us that they can give us this absolute crap and laugh while they take our money.
DarkNess @ Jan 26th 2007 4:46AM
What the fuck... Lady in the Water worst movie? Umm, there are far far far far more worse movies then it. Its acctually pretty good. What fucking cunts.
reppy @ Jan 24th 2007 3:08AM
I don't get why so many people hated Lady in the Water. If Never Ending Story came out right now, it'd get panned. And all the people that loved it growing up would be saying it was "too kiddie" and didn't have enough violence.
Frexy Q. @ Jan 24th 2007 7:09AM
Mmm...
Uwe Boll can suck my Boll...
I think this fits quite nicely in this topic, no? ^^;
jquadman @ Jan 24th 2007 4:02PM
Wait, Lady in the Water? M. Night Shyamalan? I just watch this movie for the first time last night, and I was floored. I'll agree that his movies take a bit of imagination and are rather fantastical in nature, but that is what I like about them. Maybe it's not for everyone, but worst director? Really?
Agent MOO @ Jan 24th 2007 11:43AM
He looks like a raving rabbid in that pic
dvnt @ Jan 24th 2007 1:35PM
Lady in the Water was a good movie. M. Night's movies are all imaginative. I think of them as modern Brother's Grimm tales.
