GRAW 2 delayed for PS3, demo soon for Xbox 360
Absent from Ubisoft's latest financial report, detailing the publisher's release lineup through March, is the PlayStation 3 version of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2. The Xbox 360, PC, and PSP versions of GRAW 2 are each listed. Ubisoft has confirmed with 1UP that the PS3 effort has not been canceled, but simply delayed. A tentative release date has not been given. As for the Xbox 360 version, development seems to be right on schedule. Xbox 360 Fanboy reports that a demo will be deployed to Xbox Live Marketplace in the near future (possibly by the end of the month).

Yeah BABY! WTF is up with the PS3 delay? Maybe it really is hard to develop for?
Matt @ Jan 23rd 2007 6:07PM
Am I alone in thinking that it's too early for a sequel? Ubisoft seems to have a problem with over-exploiting quality franchises by pushing out sequels too quickly with only marginal improvements.
BklynKid @ Jan 23rd 2007 6:14PM
Hahahahahaaaa. Must be too hard to get the game running in 4D and 1080p at 60fps like all the other PS3 games.
murphster @ Jan 23rd 2007 6:19PM
Yet another ps3 game delayed. this is starting to get old.
2slick @ Jan 23rd 2007 6:14PM
While I agree w/ #1, I think there marginal improvements validate a purchase, because the previous version was generally very good and simply left players wanting more.
One of the worst games Ubi put out lately was Rainbow Six for the Xbox...can't remember the last part. It was the last Rainbow Six for the Xbox. It was almost an MMO FPS, but many complained it sucked. They took that feedback and made Vegas...pretty damn good upgrade IMO.
Not to add to the EA bashing, but this is the difference between EA and Ubi, while they both do about the same thing to their series in terms of marginally updating franchises, EA does it w/ sports games, and marginal updates to a sports game just don't cut it anymore.
mike @ Jan 23rd 2007 6:18PM
no i enjoyed the original graw a lot and the chnages to crosscome to give you full screen views of what your soldiers are seeind and being able to command them from their view looks like a great idea
J.Goodwin @ Jan 23rd 2007 8:14PM
Seems like cross platform titles are increasingly becoming de-facto timed exclusives on the 360 because of development problems.
evildoer @ Jan 23rd 2007 8:55PM
my 360 is still broken.
theGreenGrunt @ Jan 23rd 2007 7:31PM
Joystiq is sabotaging PS3 development by going into the developers offices after hours and destroying the code for PS3. Why is Joystiq sabotaging PS3 development.
Kidding obviously. Some PS3 fanboy will make some outrageous comment like that of course. There is no bad PS3 news of course its all Joystiqs fault or Kotakus fault for reporting it. PS3 fanboys make me giggle.
Squarg @ Jan 23rd 2007 7:07PM
From the screenshots I've seen, GRAW2 looks even more dull and colourless than any other "next-gen" game yet. Not that I'm saying that's a bad thing, I mean real is brown, right?
Anywho, looking forward to this one, enjoyed the first but couldn't really get into the online part of it.
Arno @ Jan 23rd 2007 6:50PM
Hellooooooo comment upgrade! Now if I could just change my password to something I could actually remember...

multiplayer sucked and so did the story fanboys you kno you dont even have a ps3 and are bashing it get and if u dont like then bash it
AirIntake @ Jan 23rd 2007 6:59PM
Password entered. Major improvement guys! I'd often not comment just because I didn't feel like logging into hotmail.
Back to the topic, I'll buy GRAW 2 if it's near as good as GRAW. I sure hope they fix the 'floating jesus' bug where you stand up with your arms out when trying to crawl in prone. It only happened on some levels, but when it did, it made the prone position mostly useless.
MrPolarBare @ Jan 23rd 2007 7:02PM
The biggest suckers of the new video game generation.....us!!!
Funny how we are spending $60 for games due to higher development costs and increased game development times. It sure seems like they are shipping these sequels out the door as quick (if not quicker) than last generation. So this game will basically be an upgrade of the existing X360 GRAW game. What's the chances we see a price break on this title? Yep, thought so...
Hey I liked GRAW for 360 a lot, and to me $60 or $50...who cares. I just dislike how it seems developers are deceiving the gaming public with this high cost BS.

demo supposed to be within 7 days, im surprised! to busy playing the crackdown demo though

360 FTW! PS3 suxxorz!
But seriously, I'll rent this, but won't buy it. The single-player of GRAW was a lot of fun but I didn't care for the multiplayer, hence I haven't touched it since I finished the campaign.
Gamefly FTW!

Finally they added the "Remember Me" feature, I hope they don't expect people to confirm via email, because that's the main reason many of us don't bother commenting.
StMadnes @ Jan 23rd 2007 8:31PM
In the past, i've heard that the 360 version for this game was waaay better than the ps2 version. I played the 360 version on my friend's 42inch HDTV and i was f'n blown away! Ok so the next installment is being delayed for the PS3. As much as that may irk some nerves, at least Sony goers still have the PSP version of the game to look forward to. heh, heh..
Sanchinos @ Jan 23rd 2007 7:37PM
I actually never got through the original GRAW because, having made it to the 2nd to last level on hard (I always play through on hard right from the start) my game save got corrupted with an unfixable bug. I wasn't about to go back and start the game all over again, so I just never played it again. Hopefully Ubi can get this one out the door without so many bugs - considering it's essentially just a rehash of last year's game with marginal improvements to smoke effects and a new story line.
Grindstone @ Jan 23rd 2007 7:38PM
My beautiful stars... GONE! But, I'll take the new password anyday. Man I hated having to wait for it to show up in email.
Oh, and with regards to the topic at hand, uhm, cool. GRAW was pretty good, but the bar better be raised higher for GRAW2, especially considering the competition: Gears and RS:V.
pandaboy99 @ Jan 23rd 2007 7:47PM
If the ps3 has a few more maps and options I can wait while i play motorstorm... in the meantime ill just continue to play gears of war with a side of resistance on my 1080p sharp aquos

Sorry, If I do not have the latest NHL players, teams, coaches, uniforms, I will cry. EA and 2K Sports, keep coming out with a new NHL every year, and I will keep giving you my money. As for GRAW 2, I have GRAW, so this will be wait and see.

Well, I was planning to get the XBox 360° ver... I´m hoping some online multiplayer to go with it. Why is everything going horribly wrong for the PS3???.
I hope that MGS4 gets released this year with no delays.. but I can only hope.
pattyblades @ Jan 23rd 2007 8:14PM
graw 2 ftw, better pimp out that online though

Everytime there is a Sony news story its like a punch line to some joke. Honestly if my company was being run like Sony is being run into the ground I would fire them all and start over.
Sony is a billion dollar company that is being run into the ground. WTF?

As to why they're putting a sequel out so quick: I'd be really surprised if this had a new engine. That's a full half to three-quarters of the dev time right there (the levels, art, etc don't really come together til the last few weeks). So they get/make the engine, and then can just crank out content every year, hopefully improving on it.
honkyjesus @ Jan 23rd 2007 8:36PM
ppl bash the ps3 for one reason - at this point, it kinda sucks and there is only one good game for it
are we all supposed to pay 600 for a system none of us want just to comment on how much it sucks - developers have bashing the ps3 for a while, ask them if they have played it lol

graw rocked.....can't wait fer graw2the multi player is why i play the game so much.........f the deathmatch modes every game is adding, where it's at is on the 16 player co-op.........the 8 maps are'nt enough......we need way more, and 1200 mspts sucked too.......the maps rock though............GRAW 2! sux fer you ps3 fanboys.................i played it, but since 360, was'nt impressed......if i did'nt blow my wad maybe i'd be a ps3 fanboy too....... sony just does'nt tool me anymore.........
Dane @ Jan 23rd 2007 9:38PM
I hope Graw 2 is a little more like Rainbow Six: Vegas; the controls are so much more precise I feel. The duck and cover feature had better be implemented or I probrably won't buy it.
Carl W @ Jan 23rd 2007 9:43PM
That's it man, I am bringing back my PS3 and getting a 360.

@MrPolarBare "I just dislike how it seems developers are deceiving the gaming public with this high cost BS."
What makes you think they are deceiving us? Many of these are publicly traded companies, and are legally required to publish their costs.
It's a fact that the development costs for original first-rate 360 or PS3 games are over double that of first-rate PS2 games, but even with the rise in retail price, developers are not taking in double the revenue.
