If they had sold more copies of the PSP version I might be a little mad that they went back on what they said. If you can't sell it, port it.

I appreciate the inclusion of "can you blame them"; if people keep buying GTA, I can't fault Rockstar funding their more creative endeavours with the sure thing that GTA represents.

I am very surprised that they would release it on a platform with 5 times the potential buyers.

Ok, I don't own a PS2, but I do own a PSP. I have GTA: Vice City Stories. Aren't GTA Vice City and GTA Vice City Stories the exact same game just put on differant platforms?

Vice City and Vice City Stories aren't the same game... VCS is an extension - a prequel if you will to the VC game we all knew and loved.

Well, hmm.

Not a fan of GTA, but I hate to see them go back on their word like that. But, hey, you gotta do what pays the bills, right?

It's the smart business decision to do.

And it's fairly simple to port between PS2 and PSP, right?

According to the Video Game Street Date list on Wal*Mart's WIRE system, it's dated for next week. I don't really buy the notion that Wal*Mart internal memos would be better informed than the gaming media, but I thought it worth mentioning nonetheless.

you can't blame Rockstar. You can blame consumers for not buying more PSPs. Rockstar has to make a profit somewhere.

Wow... that was easier than I thought! Or you thought!

Yeah, I was kind of interested in getting the Liberty City Stories for PS2, but after I played it I realized that it was a STRAIGHT UP PORT from the PSP, the textures were TERRIBLE and the rest of the game was NOT the same as GTA3.

So, do not expect a straight pre/sequel to the PS2 GTA:Vice City, it's a PSP PORT to PS2 which (in my mind) means FUGLY.

I'm actually in the boat of wanting to see more PSP to PS2 ports. Even though I have a PSP, I despise playing games on the thing. Not to mention these ports usually get released at budget prices as opposed to the $40-50 price tag their PSP counterparts carry. So keep them coming.

Maybe you should have emailed joystiq when you heard about it. Or are you one of those assholes who doesn't call the fire department when you see a house in flames. "It's a fire! They're the fire department! They should already know!"

They would be stupid to not milk GTA at every opportunity. while I am not a fan of the series, thousands upon thousands are. I have known a few people that have logged 100+ hours into GTA3, and who bought a PS2 just for GTA.

"but I hate to see them go back on their word like that."

Why? It was a stupid comment. They just wanted to sell more PSP games and no one wants to buy them, so it's smart to port it to PS2.

Can't blame Rockstar for choosing to put the game on the PS2. This all Sony's fault for putting Memory Cards so people have the choice to download the game and don't have to pay for it.

I thought LCS was quite good on the PS2 (even with the graphics, I find the gameplay more important). Glad they're porting VCS to the PS2 tbh, hopefully at a budget price again too ;)
