Trade your car for a PS3
Apparently, the offers to trade PS3s for Wiis on Cragislist were just the tip of the iceberg. This morning, tipster David Phillips pointed us to this interesting Craigslist listing offering a PS3 and two games for "a car or parts and labor on my jeep." A quick search finds a couple of other listings offering up a PS3 in exchange for a new ride or money to fix an existing ride. There are also some postings going the other way, offering a 1987 Volkswagon Golf, a 1991 Mazda Protege and even a 1968 Ford Falcon in exchange for a PS3 or other electronics.
Apparently entertainment is more important than mobility for some traders, which got us wondering what else people would be willing to give up for Sony's super-system. Food? Shelter? Warmth? First born? What would you give up for a PS3?

Probably the almost entrepreneurs, who were unable to sell their PS3 for $5K and are now stuck with a really expensive door stop.
There is justice in this world.

All those people who bought PS3's for above retail on ebay at launch... oh man, did you ever get screwed!
I'll buy a PS3 in a year, once it's hacked, and if they can keep any exclusives. It's looking really bad... HAHA!
Travis @ Jan 23rd 2007 11:46AM
Why don't the people who want cars and the people who want PS3s just get together?
RD @ Jan 23rd 2007 11:47AM
What would I give up for a PS3?
Absolutely nothing.
Especially not $599 US dollars.
Pointing_and_Laughing @ Jan 23rd 2007 11:50AM
That's what they get for holding on to them. I scalped three on launch day for 2 grand each!
mystyk23 @ Jan 23rd 2007 11:53AM
I would give up any system to not have to see the word "Fanboy" on Joystiq ever again.
Skwurl @ Jan 23rd 2007 12:00PM
Anyone who paid above retail for a PS3 is an idiot.
Actually, scratch that.
Anyone who paid the retail price for a PS3 is an idiot.
I've said it before, and I'll say it agagin: I'll take my 'Tacked on motion control GameCube' ANY DAY over a fucking paper weight.
Eric @ Jan 23rd 2007 12:03PM
I have some papers and and my bag from McDonald's this morning, I would trade that for a PS3, IF the shipping was free.
Jonathan Tran @ Jan 23rd 2007 12:03PM
I honestly figure even IF I got a PS3, just wait 1 year for a price drop (or buy it secondhand) when/if there are good games
of course, will ps3 have good games is grounds of contention
Agent MOO @ Jan 23rd 2007 12:08PM
I'd trade a klondike bar for one
Scooby Doo @ Jan 23rd 2007 12:19PM
I'll trade my other half for PS3. He's pretty much a paper weight anyways.
x876543 @ Jan 23rd 2007 12:24PM
For taking that PS3 off your hands, I'm already giving you some (not much) Common Sense.
dj @ Jan 23rd 2007 12:25PM
$400
Marty @ Jan 23rd 2007 12:45PM
I was going to say that you could trade a PS2 to get a PS3, but you'd be getting ripped off.
carg0 @ Jan 23rd 2007 12:50PM
i wouldn't even trade my lunch for a PS3. Sony would have to pay me just to consider taking one home.
SirGecko @ Jan 23rd 2007 1:04PM
What would I trade for a PS3? Everything I've got with me is pretty important but I might be willing to part with this empty paper coffe cup. It's even got one of those carboard things aroung the outside!
Zoot Suit Jedi @ Jan 23rd 2007 1:08PM
Poop. I don't mean that I would rescind the ability to poop. But rather, would send SONY poop instead of flushing said poop.
This however would be a futile trade, as in exchange for my poop, I would get a piece of crap.
PS - Poop.
Anthriel @ Jan 23rd 2007 1:31PM
It seems the PS3 has become extremely popular among the hardcore gamers.
Does anyone except those justifying the purchase like it anymore?
rodan32 @ Jan 23rd 2007 1:44PM
I guess I would trade my GameCube. But definitely NOT my Sega Nomad.
alyx devereux @ Jan 23rd 2007 1:47PM
my eternal soul for a ps3 a 360 or a wii, but i don't think i'd get much anyway.
meh @ Jan 23rd 2007 1:53PM
why dont they use their car, drive to their local store and see the 10 sitting on shelves and buy one
their cars probably dont work
MrSalamander @ Jan 23rd 2007 2:05PM
I don't see the point my local FutureShop has 35 instock for the past 2 weeks. They can't give them away. Just not selling. Its not worth the money.
crazyrabbits @ Jan 23rd 2007 3:09PM
I would give up my first-born child for a Playstation 3.
It was then that I realized that by the time I have a kid, the Playstation 13 will be out.
Attack the weak point for MASSIVE DAMAGE
Belly Dancer @ Jan 23rd 2007 3:52PM
I'll trade what is sitting in my toilet for a PS3.
Pulse @ Jan 23rd 2007 5:18PM
I'd trade all the fanboys in the world for PS3 :) Thats about it for the moment.
SuicideNinja @ Jan 23rd 2007 6:30PM
I gave up my bonus check for a PS3.
It wasn't worth it. Where the hell can I find a Wii?
Tom @ Jan 24th 2007 12:55AM
I'd be willing to part a whopping one hundred and twenty nine dollars for a PS3!!!
ima747 @ Jan 25th 2007 6:12PM
Anyone else find it really funny, and yet suprisingly honest that no one posting is actually willing to give up anything of value for a PS3?
I might trade my 360 for a PS3 for the following reasons.
I don't play the 360 since I got a Wii
I'd like to play some PS2 rpgs, but I'm too cheep/lazy to buy a PS2.
And that's a might... And if I did I know I'd buy another 360 as soon as there was a price drop (which will be before they can possibly figure out a way to drop the price of a PS3)
So yea, 1 more for the "why the hell would I want that?" pile...
If only sony had released it a year ago as a game system rather than put it on hold so they can bundle it with the rounder, and shinny beta-max 2 (blue-ray) they would have had another success, but they got greedy (even for a huge multinational corporation they got greedy)
