Too Human emerging from a "very cold place"

Silicon's Knights founder Denis Dyack crawls out from a dark hole to deliver a new Too Human screenshot (pictured) and a few promises. Too Human went AWOL after its sketchy E3 showing (slide show, anyone?), but Dyack vows the game has undergone some significant tuning. The evidence is in the image, he claims. Hmmm ... maybe we're missing a cybernetic upgrade or something, but we're not able to judge frame rate, camera movement, and load times from a still shot. But oh yes, those are indeed some soft shadows...
Microsoft is expecting Too Human by July. The onus is on Silicon Knights to deliver. Is the pain from shame enough to drive this project beyond crushed expectations? We can't wait for this one to be dumped outta its ice bucket.

I still think this game has a ton of potential. We shall see come December (no way it's coming out in July).
Jay @ Jan 25th 2007 10:39PM
Oh, really? Soft shadows?
Excuse me while I try to cool off here. I hope something like this isn't such a big deal, because I wouldn't know who would appear more foolish: Dyack for being boastful about a special effect, or people overly complaining about it in the first place.
I think I wanna know more about the game itself being any good before I can start complaining about astethics.

Oh James, please read the article carefully next time. At the end he mentions that people can notice some things, including AA etc., and then goes on to mention that in addition, frame rates and camera have also been fixed.

This is gonna be a trilogy so they better get the first one right.

i want to see new videos of this and I think IGN is going to have them
next week

Well, I for one can tell that the story is far too long and convoluted, just from the screenshot, so I'm gonna pass on the game...
I will admit, the visuals do appear to have improved by a significant degree, though.

So the PS1, N64, GC, Xbox 360 game will finally come out, and won't be crap? yeah right. And why July? July is a blah month to launch a game, give them more time! (Because it seems 10 years wasn't enough)
fawazr @ Jan 25th 2007 11:41PM
Wasn't Too Human supposed to be a Gamecube launch title way, way back? This game has been in development of some sort for nearly a decade.
fawazr @ Jan 25th 2007 11:42PM
eery... David beat me by mere seconds.
Jay @ Jan 25th 2007 11:50PM
Well, the environments do look better in the screenshot -- have no idea if the game sucks or not, though. I do remember how terrible it looked before.
Dirtyboy @ Jan 25th 2007 11:58PM
I think it's a bad sign when a developer plans a trilogy before the first game is even out.

I hope this is coming out in July. The summer gaming drought could use a possible AAA title like this.

I never really comment on stuff but this post annoyed me a bit.
James, did you even read the entire blog he posted? The screenshot was barely a footnote at the end. Instead of taking the screen shot and 'saying how the hell does this prove anything' read a little more and realize that they went through alot of criticism and in the next couple months he hopes they can redeem themselves.

I love how you can come up with a conclusion - that this game's "story is far too long and convoluted, just from the screenshot..." Congratulations on your uncanny ability to know the depth of a game from one screenshot. Unf#ckingbelievable.
Spiderfish @ Jan 26th 2007 12:48AM
joel that was the best comment I've read in a while. Thanks.

Its not like Silicon Knights doesn't know how to make a video game, MGS: Twin Snakes, Eternal Darkness, and Blood Omen. Its kind of dream project in the studio, and I don't think they'd let it see the light of day unless it was something they were proud of.
evolgenius @ Jan 26th 2007 9:08AM
I'm really looking forward to this game. The 360 really could use a God of War style action game.

I am SOOOOO very glad Silicon Knights has no relationship with Nintendo anymore. So what if they left because Nintendo makes less advanced technology... and I've also heard that they bitch and moan when a game isn't done on time (ala Rare). This game has taken forever... I bet the majority of the people working on it want to shoot themselves because they haven't seen anything new or done anything new in over 10 years. There comes a point in a game's life cycle where you say "F' it... its done... we could do more... but its done."
Silicon Knights doesn't seem to get that.
Jake @ Jan 26th 2007 10:29AM
This game could be very, very good. Or, it could be meh. With the developer and the time and resources spent, my guess is that it will be a solid title. I'm looking forward to it with cautious optimism.
Oh, and Joel, I think that person was being sarcastic to say the story is too long based on a screenshot. I actually thought it was funny. If you were seriously annoyed by his comment, you may have commited the act of self pwnage.
ck @ Jan 26th 2007 11:02AM
I'm with you Jake on this one. This game was built on too much hype - it may deliver, but if it doesn't - it will be mostly because the media (and MS) decided to treat this game as the Holy Grail and disappointment, I think, factors into reviews/enjoyment of games more than anything.
